As much as I really don't like JayBo, I don't think it would take much to land him. He's been pretty disappointing for Calgary thus far and there were talks of trading him throughout last season. Still, with his cap hit, the only way I'd be okay with the deal is if we didn't have to give much to get him. -
I think its pretty obvious now that the main FA left that Holland is targeting is Doan, especially considering all his "we need veteran leadership comments". While he's a great player, can someone please explain to me why we need him of all people? I just don't get it. Veteran leadership? Most of our core team are seasoned veterans! Datsyuk - 33 Zetterberg - 31 Franzen - 32 Kronwall - 31 Bertuzzi - 37 Sammy - 36 Clearly - 33 Given this, it seems we have plenty of veteran leadership and I just fail to see what Doan could possibly provide except some toughness and some more goals. We should be trying to get younger, trying to get a sniper to play wing with Pav. Another 35+ player on a team of aging veterans? I just don't get it.....

And that's another thing. Holland needs to understand the press and excitement that come with signing new players. He's given us NOTHING to be excited about. I can't wait to see next season's Red Wings commercial. "The 2012 Detroit Red Wings.......we got Tootoo!!!".

I really feel this is gonna completely reenergize their team. I see them going into the playoffs either a 5th or 6th seed. All we've gotten is older and weaker with no intentions to change it. Quote me on it though, Wild will top the Wings next year.

Elite or not, as it stands, they have a much stronger roster than us and I'm willing to guarantee that they finish ahead of us in the standings next season.

That was July 4th. Holland isn't about NEEDS, he's about......yeah I'm still not sure. Anyway yeah, even though trading for Yandle and signing Semin is our best option, all I can see Holland doing is inquiring about bringing Williams back for another run.

Uhhhh.... Had to break it to you bud, but we LITERALLY do not have enough assets to trade for both. We can possibly get one, in which case I say definitely go for Yandle, but getting both? Impossible.- 61 replies

In all honesty, if Holland is having reserves about his attitude, I think the best thing to do would be have Dats give him a call and see how it goes. I mean, with the right leadership, I think this guy could blossom. Imagine Semin on the same line as Dats......possibilities are endless.

That's easy. Was simply waiting for the Parise fiasco to be done with to drive Nash's price up even more. Might even wait until Semin is signed too. Wouldn't you wait to trade your player until his market value is at his highest?

I have no faith in Kenny Holland whatsoever, so I definitely didn't think Suter coming here was locked. I was hoping and praying it was, but yeah, not surprised in the least it didn't happen. In regards to Nash, it's just not gonna happen, especially considering the Rangers have way more quality assets than us and are willing to part with them.

You guys are dreammmmin. If we trade for anybody, it will be a defenseman, which is why we really need to sign Semin.

I like Doan, I really do......just can not afford another 35+ guy. Unfortunately, Sammy stole his spot.
