Because Brunner is supposed to be "in our top 6" and then Nyquist is supposed to be a rostered player and then Abdelkader will just replace his old spot. 16 Forwards is way to many to carry. I know our D isn't set you and it will be interesting how that pans out. I don't know how Smith cap hit works out but we have 5 signed with Smith and hoping Suter will be on that list too. After that we have Quincey that can be resigned and guys like Garrison are still remaining. It all depends which way we want to go. We have 19 left according to NHLnumbers.com but Adding smith, nyquist, and Brunner that drops. Also add abby when he resigns. Then you add cap when we have to trade guys away cause somebody has to get moved or waived.

I just hope holland gives us something to get excited about. If the price of staal was so high, I'm afraid of what te price for Ryan would be. I can understand being gun shy to go after Ryan when there is a chance that you can sign Parise without losing any assets If I read the article correctly, Ryan didn't come out saying he wanted to go to Philly. I believe he said that out if the 4 teams that he heard were interested that Philly would be his top destination. I could be wrong...

I think the hardest part about judging there value is the inflating cap. 7+ million 4-5 years ago was rediculous, now it isn't so bad... If Datayuk was signing a contract now I think he would be in the 7.5-8 area because teams can afford those rates now.... This is why the long term deal is a risk but a risk worth taking... When the cap inflates the deals look even better then they did the year before.
