He understood him just fine alright, thats what makes it work so well for Pavel. He can play innocent while making a joke, and sometimes people can't be sure if he was joking or not, that makes for the best humor in my opinion. Like for example he did a interview with VS and before the interview he joked with them about charging them for him wearing a VS towel during the interview. At the end of the interview whoever was doing it mentioned Datsyuk saying about getting paid to wear the towel, its just his humor. Similar to the famous interview a few years back when they were done he said " are we done? ok 5 bucks" Great to have such skilled players and good all around guys on our team, seems like they all treat the fans and press good and are always in good spirits. good discussion guys carry on

these are very good points, I wonder about all of them. what about, how does the Red Wings feel about him coming back? former teammates and guys who have never played along side him. only bad thing about Fedorov is he craves the spotlight, but IF he did come back to Detroit he better be willing to live in the Shadow of our Stars, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidstrom, etc.

This was a silly post my friend, Ozzie had a terrible game, combined with no help down low, especially by Lilly-Pad. Everyone has bad games, Ozzie has been in a slump since the All-Star game if you ask me but he is a great goalie and will come out of it. Good to see Howard finally get some action he played well and needs to get some more experice because The Dominator and Ozzy won't be around forever, he is the future and we need our future to develop to its full potential, can't do that never playing NHL games. not trying to flame but your statement makes no sense. try goaltending is not about looks, but don't bash butterfly, style goaltenders, Just because Ozzie isn't a straight butterfly style goaltender and has low GAA. some of the best goaltenders to ever play I know us Wings fans hate the guy but Patrick Roy (whaa ) so when you bash, the butterfly stle and say its all looks you are also bashing guys like legends Glen Hall,Vladislav Tretiak,Patrick Roy and current goaltenders like Jean-Sebastien Giguere, Roberto Luongo, Henrik Lundqvist, Rick DiPietro, all great goaltenders all play(ed) Butterfly. I agree it was nice to see a Detroit goalie playing a modernized style of butterfly, rather than a hybrid type style. I personally play Butterfly and feel it has its many advantages, each and every style does, have both its pros and cons, but some work for well for others some don't. so don't bash on Howard, butterfly goalies, and guys who prefer regular style mask, just because your upset Ozzie had a bad game.

Yes bring back Fedorov so he can tear it up with Pavel Russian Style.

I have to agree Mario should have been listed, had he been healthy his whole career he would have beat The Great One's records or atleast most of them.

Noone suggested him "smoking guys" but that is what people implied by saying he needs to be bulk up more, and my point was, conditioning aside Datsyuk isn't a physical type of player, he is pure talent. I still say I have to disagree with you, Pavel doesen't get thrown on his ass as it is now, he gets knocked around just like every other Red Wing. I don't know if it would be possible for one to hold on to the puck any longer than Pavel does, he usually has 3 guys all over him and manages to maintain possesion of the puck.

I see your point, but The context of what the other poster above was saying was more about being a physical forward. All the players condition and lift weights, its part of getting in shape staying sharp through the season. I'm just stating that Pavel lifting weights is not because he is trying to be more or need to be more a physical hitting player. I know what your saying and thanks for pointing out the difference, I agree its always better to have strength training but don't expect Pavel to be slamming people around out their, he will continue to play his game just the same.

I've tried to do this as well, but my will power must not be as strong as yours, this thread brought it out in me. I just think its funny how many people change their opinions from night to day. One minute half the forums hates the guy says he is over-rated trade him now, then a season later is is one of the Top 5 favorite players on the forums, I'm not complaining I love the fact that people like him now and see how talented he really is. but fact that half the people that were bashing him now, back-pedal and say NO I never said that I simply said he needed to work on some things. with that all the way, its good to see all the support Pavel gets now, and is starting to receive some of the much needed credit he deserves. I haven't had the chance to read this entire thread but I would say us getting rid of cleary would be a mistake the guy plays with so much heart and always makes big plays. He may not be a flashy player or have the type of skill some of our other guys do, but he has heart, and works hard every night, he fights, he hits, he grinds it out in the corners, he makes plays, shots, scores, blocks shots. In the playoffs he never gives up keeps playing his game and does whatever he can to help the team. He deserves a raise yes but just a slight one, his role hasn't changed a whole lot, but he has earned himself more ice time and the respect from all his teammates. I like Dan and hope to see him in a Wings jersey for a while.

so your saying you'd still prefer Shane Doan over Pavel?? Pavel will never be a physical player, he has so much talent he don't need it, he leads the league in take-aways, can deke anyone out of their jock, and is quick on his feet and a extremly inteligent player who sees the ice well. So he really has no need to be a muscle, he can take the puck with his talent no need to smash into the guy and risk personal injury. I'm not saying a team doesen't need a physical presence just saying your goal scorers and playmakers don't need it. Noone says these things about Zetterberg and in my opinion is less physical than Pavel is, they both are just so talented. another good example would be Nick Lidstrom the best Defensman in the league and one of thee best if not the best of all time, and he is not that much of a physical player either, he shuts down people with his talent. same as Pavel and Hank.

like I said before the Capitals have been getting worse standing wise the past two years, and have been getting better players every year, the problem I feel was the old Coach Glen Hanlon, they have since replaced him after a shaky or infact terrible start to this season, and have been finding ways to win every since, Alex is still playing his game and is starting to show signs of taking it to the next level, Backstrom is starting to come around late in the season, and I don't have to say anything about Alexander Semin he has been playing spectacular lately, so with that, the Caps have Ovechkin, Semin, Backstom, Kozlov, Pettinger and Green to name a few. and many other young "hungry" players leading them with a new coach Bruce Boudreau Veteran Chris Clark as the captain, veteran goaltender who has had playoff experience in the finals, Olie Kolzig. They have the enforcer Brasher. I don't see why this team can't compete and make it to the playoffs. I expect this team to be real deadly the more time goes by.
