I think it's because he is a whiny brat. He talks crap about Giguere in the off-season, but you don't see any fire to be a true competitor when the games don't mean quite as much. I wouldn't want him on the wings.

I am with you on this one Legionnaire, I though Hartnell's hit was pretty intentional (especially when I saw a super slow motion version, but I was also surprised to see Chechoo out there after all of the "He's done, his career might be over talk" especially to hear of him out there without any sort of brace. All of us who have had major joint issues know that if he can play a playoff game without a brace, then the Sharks' rhetoric was way over the top. I don't know about the play in question, but the one thing I can say after watching the first two games is this: I want Radulov on the Wings. I would trade Kronner for Rads. I don't get to play as much hockey as I'd like, but I will say that when I saw Forsberg go down, my first thought was "Boy, he went down pretty easy for a guy who can be stronger on his skates than almost anyone in the league." I thought it was a good call, or would have been a good non-call. I don't think the SJ player should have been called for anything.

Once Detroit acquired alot of my favorite players: Yzerman Fedorov Chelios Hull Hasek I started following them. The 02 Avs Series got me absolutely hooked on hockey. I have loved the Wings ever since, and even when a player I like leaves, I seem to like the team even more because I am learning about young guys, etc. For someone outside of the area, the only downside is Detroit. It is not exactly the sort of place I want to go on vacation to and catch a couple of games. So, pretty much, it would be really expensive to fly to Detroit solely for the games.

Bad idea. Sammy is no Fedorov.

Couple of thoughts: With the strong win last night, it isn't unreasonable to be cautious with Bert and sit him for another game if necessary. However, if he does come back, I think Babcock should keep an eye on doing what's best for the franchise. As much as I prefer Hudler's play over Samuelsson's play, there is a more important reason to sit Sammy. You invest in your future. The reason Hudler and Flip made a couple mistakes out there is because that was their first taste of playoff hockey. I don't think anyone is planning on signing Sammy after this contract is up. Hudler on the other hand has the possibility to be a franchise player, or a great trade piece in the future. If we want to develop the Wings for years to come, we need to play our rookies in the playoffs. All things being equal, playing Hudler is a smarter decision for the future of the franchise.

I was trying to use Sopcast, but I can't get it to work. Can anyone help me? I tried to ask on the GDT but it was going so fast I never got a response.
-
Any tips on how to get Sopcast to work?
-
EDIT: Double Post
-
I don't suppose Bert is out there?
-
Has anyone been able to get Sopcast to work?
-
Does anyone know if it will be on Sopcast tonight?

Dear me, Thanks for being a true American badass. - Me

I hate them too, but this is the best thing for the Wings. These two teams should go to 7 overtime games and destroy each other. Then, the Preds should win (because I think they aren't as good as SJ). Say yes to mutual destruction.
-
Just saying, if Bert cannot play for a while, it was financially better for the Wings that he got hurt before the playoffs than in Game 1 of the playoffs. Interesting component to any injury analysis.

Alright boys, get ready to go down: Detroit 4-3 over Calgary Anaheim 4-1 over Minnesota Dallas 4-2 over Vancouver San Jose 4-2 over Nashville Buffalo 4-0 over NYI New Jersey 4-3 over Tampa Bay NYR 4-3 over Atlanta Ottawa 4-2 over Pittsburgh I guess we'll do it all over again when the second round starts.

Read carefully, then comment (it's less embarrassing). It was a joke.
-
That really made me laugh. I love how small the "in the playoffs" text is.
-
Ahhhh! I get the feeling no one realized that my post was a joke. How could that be taken seriously?
-
That is insane! And they wonder why hockey has problems with its fan base. It's because we are down here, working to get by. Most of us don't wear suits to work every day.
-
You're right. If people cannot appreciate how in-game giveaways help the entire team, then I shouldn't really care about whether they apologize to Lang or not. It's called team defense - Langer knows how to prepare for the playoffs.
-
You are all such jerks to Rob. I guess he should apologize for realizing this team needed work on its defense and facilitating that? We'll see what you say when you see him remaining committed to that in game "practice" during the playoffs. When we win the cup, you owe him an apology.

Doesn't Tanguay have the same playoff reputation as Dats? I think COL fans hated how he disappeared in the playoffs. I really think if we can shut down Iginla, Conroy and Huselius there is not much left. EDIT: I have to go with Kipper (cause he is aweseome and so is his mask) and Iginla (a good guy from all reports and one hell of a hockey player)
-
This season Datsyuk has played hard in every facet of the game. He is a constant presence and does not disappear. There have been so many games where he is the only one on the scoresheet. Every D we play tries to key on him and this season, hasn't stopped him. I am going to back off of my criticism of him last year in the playoffs because of some new details coming out about just how injured he was. I think he deserves the deal he got. More up front, but it'll look REALLY good in 2 years or less. My prediction: Dats deal looks great in 2 years. Kronwall deal looks like money down the drain in 2 years.

We've been laughing at them all the way to the bank for the last 15 years, so I think I'll be okay.
