I'm all for a fighter. After watching Downey's fights, does anyone else think that the guy has 1 freaking move? Same move every fight. I'm not trying to start an argument, just wondering if anyone else thought that.
-
Being healthy is why I'm nervous. If Lebda goes down before/during the playoffs, then who do we replace him with (assuming we are already using our 7th to replace an injured Kronwall)?
-
The purpose of Drake was to mentor Kopecky. My guess is that Maltby and Kopecky will split a little bit of time. Maltby is a cheap/experienced reserve and I think Holland probably let him know that when he re-signed for so many years.
-
Drake will be better and here is why: Remember how Bert would just skate past a scrum at the wall and then call for the puck down by the goal line extended? If not, go back and watch some playoff tapes. I remember the commentators even saying a few times of "Bertuzzi needs to go in there and help [Wings player] get that puck out." Drake will do that. Everyone is talking about the offensive upsides, but Bertuzzi was more of a liability than a help. Think about it this way: with Drake on the team, that is X many times that a skilled player won't go into the scrum to dig the puck out. I think Dallas will be way more helpful than alot of people give him credit for.

I wonder if Selanne really appreciates Burke's man-love for all things Canadian...How would you feel if you were the old hero and Burke was busy signing more Canadians while at the same time not knocking down your door to come back? Hurts the pride.
-
Selanne. He meets more needs than any of the other names.
-
I always thought he was better than people gave him credit for. Damn hard to follow Roy, but I think COL made a huge mistake trading him.
-
Why is Lemeiux so high on some of your lists? The guy had great skills for quite a while, but I think he got by on so much hype. No way I put him before Richard or Yzerman.
-
A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. I'd trade Howard and then some if we could get Kipper on a sign and trade. EDIT: Just to make this on topic - I am sad to say that Grigs was probably over-hyped. At the rate he was scoring in Russia (with no drop off) he'd be a 20 goal scorer. He's already 25, so I don't know if he'll progress much more physically.

Mr. Glass - Kronwall

And they're are definitely overpriced right now...

Eklund says Wings are interested in Josef Melichar
Turretin replied to SwedeLundin77's topic in General
Amen. I am ready to strap in and watch the young guys make some stupid mistakes. That is how you learn at every level of the game, in all areas of life. I hope Quincey gets over 41 games this season. -
Really? Because you think Norton is a realist that isn't full of himself? The guy thinks that he has the skill level to play in the NHL, and was pissed at the Wings for not giving him time.
-
I promise you a lot of bitching and moaning that he is NHL material while he stinks up your AHL team.

Sharks big offseason acquisition. Hanta yo.

I understand, I am tryig to point out that NSH took a lot of liberties in their series against SJ. If you have evidence that an enforcer reduces injuries during the regular season, I would enjoy reading it. However, I don't think it makes a difference in the playoffs (for which I blame the rule makers).
-
How many enforcers does SJ have? Did that stop Nashville?
-
I'm not going to start something on these boards (because that's not what they're for). And, I haven't seen you be an ass in the past, so I won't pretend like you are. However, if something I say bothers your personal likes and dislikes because you have some pet peeve then, in the future, just keep it to yourself. People are here to talk about hockey, not to learn your personal posting guidelines.
-
Well, I think your right, for right NOW, but I would like to see the Wings develop Quincy throughout the season. I'd also like to see him get plenty of playoff experience so that we don't hit a whole generation of defenseman who have little to no experience
-
Oh shut up. Someone missed naptime...

Amen. Only trade Lilja if we get Markov back. Otherwise, keep him. Also, I know it's tough to watch, but how are the kids going to be able to handle the NHL if you don't let them go out there and screw up without fear of demotion?
-
Yeah...ouch. Seriously though, what do we need? A pure goal scorer on the Wing. If we could go all cheap youth and then find a way to keep Homer, Dats, Hank and Hossa up front, we'd be awesome.
-
Hey Bro, don't put words in my mouth. There is no way Lilja's stock is objectively high, but it is relatively high (relative to him). I think there are a number of teams that could use Lilja in a much greater capacity. Think about how many minutes he logged in the playoffs. If we could trade him for picks/prospects, then we've lost some salary and can use that now or later. Addition by subtraction.
-
That is why we need to trade him IMMEDIATELY. His stock is higher than ever.
-
It it is for 1.36 mil, what is Markov going to say now? I want Markov back: Lids - Markov Rafalski - Quincy Chelios - Lebda Lilja This is at the end of the season when Kronner is on the IR.
