Official 2016 Detroit Red Wings Offseason Thread
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
That's my understanding. But I thought we could just suspend him for a year, keep him "active" and move his contract. This is completely out of left field, considering it was just days ago guys like McKenzie and Dreger were talking about the Wings moving his contract. -

So... anyone looking forward to an eventful offseason, well we may be s*** out of luck. Don't know how to quote tweets, but I'll just write them out. John Shannon of Sportsnet just said this: "Told that Datsyuk's contract will be terminated for anticipatory breach and he will be free to sign a new contract in Russia." "Because of Datsyuk's age, there will be a cap hit associated with his contract -- full cap hit because it's a 35 plus contract." If that is correct, we can no longer trade the contract because there won't be a contract. Tomorrow just got a whole lot more interesting, if we can't shed Pav's contract, we won't be able to make any moves at all. -

So, a 5th this year was the price for Goligoski. I wonder what the price for Stammer would be in Stevie figures he cant sign him. A 3rd this year? -

I've had similar thoughts to you guys, but would they take all that money in one deal? I really hope so, I'd probably buy a Francis jersey if he took all that off our hands -
Bad News... Dave Strader diagnosed with cancer

So s***ty. Not only that he has a history with the Wings, but a damn good play by play man. -
2016 SCF: San Jose Sharks vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Yeah, seriously. Whenever the Pens didn't have the puck, the Sharks were pounding pucks into shin pads over and over and over again. Forwards and defenceman alike, huge reason they won. -

Hopefully Blash was watching these games. Speed kills, no more slow garbage clogging the lineup next year. -
Gordie Howe has passed away. 1928-2016.
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
What a sad day. RIP to Gordie, the reason my Dad became a Wings fan which ultimately led to me loving this team. For that I'll never forget Mr Hockey, glad to say I have a retro #9 jersey. -

Would be pretty great to watch Skidney and Malkin choke, but unless the Sharks figure it out or Jones stands on his head for two more not happening. -
Wings hire John Torchetti as 2nd Assistant

The right choice based on who was available. Now onto making the team better! -

I don't want either of them back to be honest, but some of the things being said about Miller... lol. The guy is a plug, plain and simple. Average PKer, boat anchor at 5on5, not a speedy player to begin with coming off a major knee injury, and a non-physical 4th liner. I blame Kenny for this, only he would have fans arguing over plugs coming back over and over -

Hopefully Miller moves on. He could get more money on the open market, his PK abilities are highly overrated (numbers back this up, if you don't follow Prashanth Iyer on twitter, do it) and he's a boat anchor at even strength. Nosek/Callahan/etc. can give us everything Drew does for cheaper. -
The Wings request permission to interview Todd Richards

I'll take anyone but Dave Cameron, that guy couldn't get anything out of his forwards in Ottawa and we have a team that can't score goals as it is. -

On Insider Trading today Darren Dreger reporting Kenny is already working hard to move Pavs contract, mentioned Jurco or Pulks as guys who might be used to sweeten a deal. -
Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to TheDetroitRedWings's topic in General
Darren Dreger reported today that yeah, the Wings are interested in Radulov, but only for 1 year at 4.5-5 million. And, apparently, according to some NHL sources Radulov is looking for 2 years at 7.5 MIL PER SEASON. No thank you. -

Scared to see what horrible contract Kenny is going to sign Radulov for. -

f*** Fat Phil and Skidney, let's go Sharks. (in 2012 this would've been the worst finals I could've imagined) -

Sure sounds like Stamkos is playing tonight considering the way Cooper is dodging the question right now. Wouldn't that be something if Stamkos comes back and is the game 7 hero and eliminates Sid? -

How is AA ever supposed to learn the defensive game at center ice if he never plays? We are not cup contenders, it's time to move kids into the spots they need to be and have our coaches make them better. That's part of the job. If you have a strong system, you don't need every player to an ace defensively. We couldn't score to save our lives this year, that was our main problem. So get the kids who know how to score into the lineup, let them do what makes them successful and over time develop their defensive games. -

After his performance this season and in the playoffs, he'll have a chance. Depending on what happens at the draft and FA, I would be shocked if Sproul isn't the #7 out of camp. -

Disappointing Frk and Tangradi got hurt, I mean, nice that Svechnikov got some games under his belt and all, but the other two really would've helped the PP tonight. Plus I wanted to see some more of Frk before training camp. -

Too bad. Great showing by the prospects that matter, hopefully Dano retires after this Kids need the ice, not him. -

Coreau should've been playing from the get go, so this comeback win is huge if only to see him get more playoff time. Another two points for Mantha and Bertuzzi and a beauty snipe winner from AA. Coming back from down 3-0 is pretty tough, but even if they can just get it to Game 6/7 for the experience would be great. -
