ECSF : Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Washington Capitals

I hate Malkin and Crosby more than the St Louis fans. I can handle a SJ victory, the hatred has lessened since we haven't played them in forever. -

I love the Wings, but I hate hockey. I ******* hate it, and it's because of the Pens and Hawks. Just lose! Hell, I could handle St Louis winning the cup after all of their futility, but one year it's the Pens and the next the Hawks, this year it looks like the Pens. It never fails. -
At least it wasn't Edmonton.

Amen brudder, not surprised another Newf would point it out! Tatar-Sheahan-Jurco was much more effective than Nyquist-Sheahan-Tatar ever was. Gotta have a different element on the line, two little guys on the 3rd line can't get it done. Truth be told, I'm not gung ho about size at any cost, but if we could add a defenceman by trading Nyquist+ in a package and then add a Troy Brouwer type I'm not sure anyone would be complaining about it. -
Definitely not embarrassing, but easily the hardest to swallow of all of em. Put a few buddies in headlocks for talking s*** after Game 7 that year to be sure

WCQF : Anaheim Ducks vs. Nashville Predators

Hawks out, Ducks out, if the Caps could take out the Pens this would be an ideal playoff scenario for an early Wings exit. -
One thing that always rubs me the wrong way about 03 and 04 were the people who blame Joseph for those loses. In a four game sweep, he had a .917 SV% and a 2.08 GAA. How anyone could blame the goalie for that, is just crazy to me. Then in 04, .939SV% and 1.39GAA, we were ******* anemic offensively against Anaheim and Calgary and that's why we lost. The performances of Kiprusoff and Giguere were just unreal. 2006 really bugs me, Ozzie was getting close to returning and re-injured his groin. I know we didn't lose just because of Legace, but he was brutal. And GMR is right too, Shanny was horrendous in those six games. Zetterberg was great, so was Yzerman despite only playing 4 games, and I'll agree Babs was out coached too.

This. Back to hating the Blues, but for tonight, WOOOOOOOO. So happy captain douchebag and Kane will be watching on the sidelines for the rest of the playoffs. Now onto hating the Pens. -

Man, after looking at that spread sheet: It really would make sense to package up some forwards/defenceman and bring in 1 forward and 1 defenceman. We have so many guys. Can Pulks play? Jurco? Is Smith a piece going forward? Can/will we move Ericsson? How about Tatar and Nyquist? There's a lot to work with here, I wouldn't mind seeing us carry 8D so as to not lose Jensen/Sproul and give them chances to play. I didn't know Frk is out of options, I've liked his development to this point and god knows we could use someone that can score goals. This team might be very similar next season, but hell, they could be very different too. I know people (myself included until I see otherwise) don't believe Kenny can wheel and deal anymore, but his words at the presser today at least gives me the tiniest bit of hope we might sort out the log jams. -

Never seen a team so hard to finish off, since 2013 it's like they do this every series... thank god for the Kings in 2014. -

Never ******* fails. ******* St Louis, they'll end up blowing this goddamn series now. I just want the Hawks to lose so I can forget about hockey for the year, is that too much to ask?! -

I just fist pumped for a St Louis goal.... I feel dirty, but that's a big one. Please, god, let the Hawks go out on the same night as us so I don't have to care about who wins the cup this year -
Kind of like Babs system in the prime years, but a lot faster and more physical. The D would jump into the rush and counterattack more often. Those teams just looked... creative. I think personnel plays a factor here, but to make no adjustments to the PP units and abandon the young guys was just a mistake. He coached them in GR and they helped him win games, I'm surprised he didn't trust them more. Then again, a 1st year coach maybe bends to the whims of the vets in the room. We'll never know, but he's only got up from here to go as a coach, because if he gets any worse the clock starts ticking.

"2nd year in a row we will say we were close, but they find a way to win, we don't. That's something we have to address." -Henrik Zetterberg Interesting quote from Z post game, he doesn't really have the stats the past two years to be saying this to teammates... management maybe? -
I don't hate him, but he consistently did things that made us worse throughout the year. HOWEVER, we did make the playoffs, and he gets some credit for that. But we needed to play the kids more, and not rely on aging (and broken) veterans. I hope he does a lot of soul searching in the offseason and coaches the way he did in GR that made him successful, and not trying to be Little Mike. Mantha and AA have to be in the top 9 next year, Marchenko and Ouellet need to be in the lineup every night. Mrazek has to be the starter.

s***ty outcome, but we just weren't very good this year. We didn't deserve to get in, but thankfully the Bruins sucked worse than us and gave us one last playoff series for the Magic Man. Love him, will miss him, but this series showed it's time. Mrazek gave us a chance, turnover is part him sure, but Ericsson sitting against the boards and Kronwall asleep in front of the net take more blame for me. Speaking of blame, Dopey Jeff showed that he was a rookie coach is this series. Not one single adjustment or player switch on the PP the whole series, could've used an effective powerplay what with the whole scoring 8 goals in 5 games thing. Kid in GR looked alright on the PP and scored a few goals in junior and the AHL but what do I know? Off to the offseason now, and dreams of Stamkos will dance in my head for sure! -
Really smart too, reads plays very well. Glad he has a one way deal next year, with Kronwall regressing so badly we need more defenceman who can really skate.

Hahaha love watching the Hawks melt down, if there's any solace in us going out early it would be if the Blues could actually finish the deal in Game 5. -
gdt ECQF Game 4 Post-GTD: Tampa Bay 3, at Red Wings 2
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to vladdy16's topic in General
I just want him to coach the way he did in GR. I watched the entire Calder Cup run, and some games the last few years. He always played the young guys in crunch time, he had creative systems, and his teams played tough. When we hit a rut halfway through the year, he turned into Baby Mike and ran down the vets trying desperately to just fall into the playoffs, and fall in we did. -

Well, that sucks. PK really let us down tonight, out of position constantly. Mrazek gave us more than a chance to win, when you can't score more than 2 goals in a game you don't deserve to win anyways. Was starting to believe, but at the end of the day we're not a very good team. I do wonder what a difference us having an effective PP would make, too bad we'll never know #FreeMantha -

The Wings looked dead in thef****** water at 2-0, but Mrazek held them in and they got a good bounce on the Helm goal and things changed. That Nyquist goal was obviously big, but man we're usually the team getting scored on late in a period so to flip the script is massive for momentum. Finish it in the 3rd!!!!!!!!!!!! -

We played great last game, but multiple guys still have another level to get too, and that's good for us. Pav, Nyquist, Kronwall all get on the board offensively tonight and Mrazek shuts the door. #LGRW -
Tampa radio host's harsh words for DET fans/players
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Watch any Canadian team/Original 6 team vs Tampa in Tampa's barn, and tell me what the crowd looks and sounds like. Spoiler: More fans of the away teams, and it would be like that in the playoffs if not for that "you can't buy tickets if your not a Tampa fan" bulls***. This guy sounds like a real bright fella. -
Whenever I watch his post game comments that's the vibe I get, the weird faces he makes when one of the reporters asks him about ice time for certain players is really annoying too.

He was brutal down the stretch, but he did look very good tonight. He always tends to play better when he's with Z.
