10/13 GDT : at Tampa Bay Lighting 6, Red Wings 4

Dopey Jeff can't get his guys on and off the ice, or the players aren't great at math. Either way not good. -

I'm with ya buddy. Ericsson should fight more, he can handle anyone outside of legit heavies who are pretty much out of the game. Plus it gets him off the ice for 5 minutes at a time! -

Hilarious how bad Miller looked on the go ahead goal, the guy isn't an NHL player. He wouldn't score 20 points in the ECHL. Anyone else having deja-vu? Can't hold a lead, defenceman making bad reads/pinches, too many men penalties. Can only go up from here. At least Mrazek still looks fabulous, if only we could put a solid six d-men in front of him. -
As a forum grey beard, must say the new look out looks great.

Drew Miller will be in Detroit so long his hair will pull a Benjamin button and start turning black. Long live penalty killers! (Not torn about Pulks, kinda pissed about Frk, laughing at Kenny for not being able to package assets into a defenceman trade.)

Because his genius GM keeps re-signing the grey haired boat anchor every year. There's no question Callahan brings more to the table than Miller, but we're the Red Wings, so loyalty trumps all. -

If he gets top line & top PP unit ice, he'll score 30 goals. I'd personally like to see Tatar-Larkin-Abdelkader as a line to start the year. Then Zetterberg-Nielsen-Vanek and Sheahan-Helm-Nyquist. Then the black hole of possession Miller-Glendening-Ott... unfortunately that means no Mantha or AA but I'm expecting that to be the case anyway. -

All the goals he's scoring, all I can think of is how Blash demoted him to the 4th line last year while continuing to play Glendening 15+ minutes every night. Hopefully he's learned his lesson, but I'll have to see it to believe it. -
9/27 Exhibition GDT : Pittsburgh Penguins at Red Wings, 7:30 EST
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Good thing we have boat anchor Drew Miller and 100 year old Steve Ott playing on our 4th line instead of Callahan, you know the guy who's shown he can scrap and chip in offensively for much cheaper. Oh, and the MOST important thing in the history of Red Wings hockey, he can PK too. Prepare to puke kip. We're gonna see Miller-Glendening-Ott get caved in shift after shift every game cuz they play hard and compete -

Last three way trade Holland pulled involved Kyle Calder and Jason Williams.... this has nothing to do with anything -

Saw this too. Gonna be gutted if he goes to someone in our division. Everything looks so perfect too.... this could be the trade that puts Kenny back in everyone's good graces. -

I'm with ya. But Kenny's track record of player for player trades isn't great, so I'm not holding my breath. But if he managed to pull it off and the price was good? Well I'd change my tune Nyquist+Marchenko+1st I'd be all over, but would that be enough? I wish he'd just request a trade to Detroit since he's from Michigan -

Everything I'm reading on Twitter is saying Winnipeg wants a haul for Trouba. Even when the asking price inevitably comes down, still don't see Kenny pulling the trigger. Which sucks because Trouba would be awesome in the red and white. -
Dano would probably struggle to keep up with the pace in the St. John's senior league back home, but god bless him for wanting to continue his career. I don't want him to take up a spot in the AHL, but since Jeff Hoggan has moved on it wouldn't be the WORST thing ever.

It's never a good thing to have injuries, but I think Ericsson's hip and Kronwall's knee might be a blessing in disguise. Hear me out here... Ericsson on his best day is a solid #5 big bodied penalty killer. But on his worst day, he's a turnover machine whose breakout pass isn't the same since his hand injury a few years ago. Kronwall, up until last year, did as good a job as a career #2D could do filling in as a #1. But injuries killed him last year, and in both of these cases their injuries don't seem like they can be fixed for sure by surgery. Now, why this could be a blessing in disguise. Since Kenny won't make a trade, because he doesn't make trades, I'd like to see Ouellet and Sproul get chances this season. Ouellet has looked NHL ready since 2013-2014 when he played against Boston in the playoffs, and has had tons of games since. Just like Marchenko, I feel when he gets a real chance he won't give it up. I think he could be a solid #4 guy, I really do. And Sproul, I've always believed has untapped potential. He's 6'4, can skate, can move the puck and has been improving in his own zone every year. We won't contend for the cup with the defence we have right now, so I'd rather these "overripe" guys get a chance. I don't want to lose either of them to keep Ericsson, or a broken down Kronwall. Those guys can be put on IR if need be, and we can get looks at two second round picks who deserve a chance. -
Shawn Horcoff to join Red Wings in player development role
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Horcoff has lived in Detroit forever and trains in Detroit before the season every year. Surprised he got a role with the Wings, but I guess he was tigher with Kenny than I thought. Him and Dano are buddies too, hopefully this will make Dano finally realize its time to give up with the playing career. -

Trouba needs to come home to Michigan. -
Yupp, I'm going with my dad as well (his first time too) Would've been nice when we were a better team, but the last year of the Joe is still special.

Actually getting to go to some games at the Joe this year. I'll be sure to move quick on Monday

Patrick Roy steps down as Head Coach and VP of Hockey Operations

Well, we all know if there's one thing Patty has always been good at it's quitting on his team. This actually sucks though, because the Avs might actually be decent now -

If Blashill figures out lines, usage and deployment we could have a really good season. If he coaches like he did last season, well then I don't see much success. -

Trouba and the Jets far apart on everything: http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/jets-trouba-still-cant-agree-on-money-term-but-usage-concerns-stand-out-most/ God, I'd love for him to play next to DeKeyser on the top pair and get all the PP time his heart desires. -
Mrazek avoids arbitration... signs 2 year deal
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Great deal for all parties. Only thing I'm worried about is being so close to the cap with a mediocre team, doesn't affect Mrazek, but still worrisome. Hopefully George McPhee helps us out a bit next summer. -

Signed Glendening signs 4-year, $1.8m AAV extension
Detroit # 1 Fan replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Yeah, after reading about the extension I went to check out our cap situation and it's pretty ugly. Bad contracts, and a lot of long contracts. I really hope George McPhee likes Howard and Ericsson....
