10/1 NHL Out of Town GDT - Opening Night
CopenhagenWing replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
For a nano second a Danish player led the league in scoring. Allow me to be excited as that happens once in a billion years. -
http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=680812&navid=nhl:topheads Interesting. Personally, I'd preferred they'd do something about the width but this is a step in the right direction.

There's a time and a place. This wasn't one of them for Zetterberg and Pierre should have known better.

gdt WCQF Game 7 GDT - Red Wings 3 @ Ducks 2 - (DET wins series, 4-3)

Nice composure by the younger players during the 3rd. -
Henrik Sedin trying to decapitate Logan Couture.

signed Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr

This. Shell out the extra dough that Prust apparently commands. Tootoo is a POS. And now we're having to defend him coldcocking people. BARF! -

Topic, please.... -
#8 Los Angeles Kings vs. #2 St. Louis Blues

The Blues got away from the game that got them the 2nd seed. Goaltending didn't hold up and a lot of players took the kind of retaliatory penalties that's got to piss a coach like Hitchcock off, including their "leaders". However, the Blues took multiple steps forward this season. It'll be interesting to see if it was another flash in the pan or if they can build on this season. -
We might see more trades of star players due to the teams that were ousted from the playoffs early.

Something different and useless to talk about
CopenhagenWing replied to toby91_ca's topic in General
That irks the hell out of me, too. That's being classified as a save while you can ring a shot off all the bars of the net and it's not a SOG. -
"Frank" it, pull a Pittsburgh. Tank on purpose 5 years in a row for those early picks.

WCQF Game Three GDT : Predators 3 at Red Wings 2

Nah, it was Bertuzzi. Had it been Lilja, she should've been deeply concerned. -
WCQF Game Three GDT : Predators 3 at Red Wings 2

While I'm not disagreeing with you, Kronwall should have enough common sense to know better. Stick parallel to the ice near a player's hands and nobody else around... Is it a ticky-tack call? Sure, but that's today's NHL for you. -
#8 Ottawa Senators vs. #1 New York Rangers

Carkner takes Dubinsky out of the game. Good trade for the Senators. I can't remember the last time I've seen a player get a game misconduct for 3rd man in in the playoffs. -
#5 Philadelphia Flyers vs. #4 Pittsburgh Penguins

Now, I know there were a couple of D-men, but Crosby certainly didn't over-exert himself on that back-check. -
Fortunelately for the Wings' spoiled fans, no other teams will even consider offering the 2 premier free agents contracts.
-
Curt, do you have an idea as to which goalie is starting the playoffs?
-
Change it. Scrap the automatic seeds for the division winners. Top eight point totals in each conference makes the playoffs. If you don't like it, work on improving your team. What I'd like to see in the playoffs is the top teams being able to pick their opponent. Let's say the Wings win the West and they like a certain match-up. They'd be able to pick that opponent no matter where that team is placed in the top eight. So you could see a No 1 seed play a No 2 seed in the opening round.

I understand what you are saying but it's not like Eaves is a dinosaur. He's only 27 and would be a significant upgrade to the bottom six forwards if he'd be able to go.
-
Torts had a few choice words for the Devils' coaching staff because of that starting line-up.
-
Right now, I don't see a clear cut favourite. The Penguins won 10 in a row and they still didn't manage to overtake a slumping Rangers team. Malkin seems to step up his game when Crosby is hurt, time will tell how he'll handle Crosby's return. Detroit's in a funk right now, Canucks are right there with them as are Boston. As impressive as the Blues have been so far, will they be able to keep rolling in the postseason? Maybe their goaltending has been too hot for too long.

The NHL and NHLPA are still uncommitted to the Sochi Olympics.

Cleary's been playing on a bum knee for at least half this season. Just sayin'...
-
A lot of people have also forgotten that Franzen was a bottom 6 checking player when he initially broke in. Nobody bitched about his work ethic back then. Blissful days...
