Is the feed on ahllive.com messed up for anyone else right now? -
2013 Stanley Cup Finals - Boston Bruins vs. Chicago Blackhawks

I think it will be a close series, but I NEVER want to see Patrick Kane win another Cup. The Bruins know how to get it done so I'm hoping they can seal the deal. -

Man, does Jurco have some sick moves. If he's able to make the NHL while Datsyuk is still playing, those two would be amazing to watch together. -

The Blackhawks will do anything to try to get more PP time, since that seems to be just about the only way they can score on the Wings. -

The 'Hawks think playing "angry" is going to get them the win. So far, it looks like they're just going to continue to be frustrated and take stupid penalties for being overly aggressive. -

Blackhawks getting really frustrated. Have they not learned that trying to goon it up on the Wings never works? -
Kane being nominated is an insult to the award and all previous winners. Hard to not take his off-ice conduct into account here.

Wings had the puck for most of the period after that initial surge by the Hawks. Just gotta keep forechecking hard and make smart passes out of their own zone and they should start getting more chances. -

These CBC announcers are worse than the NBC crew. They talk about Chicago like they're a Canadian team or something. -

I see the "classy" Chicago fans are already at it with their "Detroit sucks" chant. Let's shut these idiots up. -
There will probably never be anyone better at screening the goalie and redirecting pucks as Tomas Holmstrom, but Franzen, Abby and Cleary do a pretty decent job of "Holmstroming by committee," if you will. It seems like this season there have been a number of goals that bounced off of some part of Cleary's body just because he happened to be in the right spot.

Why is everyone blaming Smith for that goal? It was Quincey who threw that pass right to a Duck in the neutral zone then got caught standing still. If Quincey makes the right play, that shot never hits the net or the crossbar. -
Ovechkin with a nice dive tonight that caught the Rangers' and announcers' attention. The guy makes me sick. He has all the talent in the world and acts like a spoiled brat.
-
That's just a blatant lack of effort right there. Players standing around the crease at least look like they're doing something. Ovie is slow coming off the bench and takes maybe 2 strides towards the play before completely giving up. That kind of attitude is what allows a team to come back from down 0 - 2 in a series.

Samuelsson on the top line tonight - god help us all !
Wings_Toledo replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
While I would like to see Tootoo in the lineup as well, the fact is that Abby played on the 1st line and Babs has to replace him with someone who can contribute offensively. Unfortunately, the best option is Samuelsson because Bert isn't ready to play top six minutes yet. -
Gotta admire the way the Islanders are playing. They've pretty much controlled the entire game aside from the first few minutes.
-
He doesn't put up points because no one that he passes to can finish. From the games I've watched, he seems to be one of the more responsible defensemen in his own zone. I assume that he was brought in to play defense first and to help contribute offensively, but when practically NO ONE is producing, it's hard to blame Quincey for the lack of production. That said, I don't think he was worth a first-rounder, but he's not the reason the Wings aren't winning. Anyone notice Ericsson turn the puck over time after time when trying to get out of the D-zone?
-
On the bright side, the Wings are getting plenty of chances. Just can't finish. Vancouver is going to be in serious trouble once the playoffs start...
-
The problem with having a top line of Z - Dats - Brunner is that if the opposing team shuts down that line, they pretty much shut down the entire team. If Z and Dats are separated, then there's a least a chance that something could happen. There just isn't enough offensive talent on this team to keep them together for the entire short season.
-
I could see Iginla and Jagr going to free agency after this season, but would either of them be worth it? I know he hasn't looked as good without Suter, but would Nashville consider trading Weber to the Wings next season since they'll be in different conferences? Holland said that he thinks the bigger deals will happen at the draft, so maybe he'll be able to acquire either a top six winger or a first-pairing defenseman at that time.
-
While the Wings certainly do have a good number of prospects that could be used in a trade, giving up 2 of them and a pick for a 41 year-old rental winger to play for a team that (in my opinion) isn't a true Cup contender this season would be a waste. If the Wings are getting Vanek for a few prospects and a pick/s, then yeah. But, so far I don't mind Kenny sitting on the Bouwmeester and Jagr deals.
-
Good to see that Kenny isn't going to give up that 1st round pick so easily. With such a deep draft this coming offseason, I'd be surprised to see the Wings make many trades involving draft picks.

Crosby left the game after puck to the face
Wings_Toledo replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
When I first saw the video I thought it was kind of funny that Crosby looks like he's diving even when taking a puck to the mouth from a teammate. However, I know that getting hit in the face with a 90 MPH slapshot is not going to feel good at all so his reaction is appropriate. Someone else had to be thinking the same thing, though. -
This is exactly why I'm looking forward to the last stretch of the regular season. Now if the 2nd line isn't producing, Babs can throw in different guys every game if he chooses to do so. A top six of: Zetterberg - Datysuk - Franzen Tatar/Nyquist - Filppula - Brunner or some combination of that. Looks pretty good to me.
