And the playoffs before did'nt he have a boken hand or something else...I seem to remember him being injured then too. so to bag on his playoffs is not really understanding, or at the very least ignoring, significant contributing factors to performance....It would be nice if all of the players were machines like Lidstrom but alas it is not the case. That being said, 6 mil is fine with me but I would prefer a 5-5.5 with incentive bonuses...perhaps linked to personal playoff performance with a total comp package in the 6-6.5 range MAX....and Ibet that is what he gets. brutus

Very understandable. Question though...even if the preds sold out every game would they still qualify for revenue sharing? I dont know if it is based on total revenue or % of possible ticket sales or what...I honestly don't know about how the whole revenus sharing thing works. I suppose that if they did sell out every game then they would probably be bumped above 50% of actual team ticket sales...as it would require every other team with a larger arena to also sell out to keep them in the bottom half of the league...if that makes sense... fwiw: it is nice to have a level headed opposing fan here...please don't misinterpret my disdain for some of the decisions made by the NHL head office as dislike in general for the fans of opposing teams. I am sure sometime it must feel like you are banging your head ona wall. brutus

which is a prime example of why there should not be team in Nashville. In the first place, building an arena with the maximum potential of lower half of the league attendance is kinda sad and sees to me to be bad business. If the marketing analysis determined that this number was the maximum number of seats that could be sold then I believe it was a poor decision to locate a team there. As far as being 23rd...what are the records of the 7 teams are below Nashville in attendance....I don't know nor do I really care but my instinct tells me they are not among the elite successful teams in the NHL...that is why they are often mentioned as being moved...a recently moderately successful franchise that has no hope of ever garnering the revenue in Nashville that could be had elsewhere. Won't/Can't happen because as you stated above it is impossible...well OK not IMPOSSIBLE but pretty darn near so and if that happens the whole NHL will probably fold....as far as being raked above theirs...I can't speak to that because it is such a recent phenomena and I will be surprised to see it continue so a rather moot point as far as I am concerned. And don't even get me started about being proud to be ABLE to receive revenue sharing...that is symptomatic of a failure to thrive and be self sufficient

I just saw the thread on the preds and someone mentioned about not walking on the logos, not letting jerseys touch the ground etc....just wondering what the player folks around here do or don't do pregame...or if there are any known rituals of NHLers. Thought it might make for a good change of pace from the stress of the so-and-so sucks threads, trade deadline threads and the upcoming playoffs...feel free to share! Release your quirks and oddities! Mine is kinda boring but I always put the left of anything on first...socks, pads, arm in the jersey etc... could be an injury but I bet it is because of the way the Hawks were throwing around the body last game...WHy risk Cheli in a game with a team who has nothing to lose....stick a young guy in or a depth player...plus he is old and a little extra rest won't hurt...and if it is an injury, groin or other, a couple games here or there wont matter...they should start doing it for all the regulars pretty soon...screw the presidents trophy...I dont want it anyway. brutus

Say what you want but you can't say Holland did'nt get exactly what we need, take a calculated risk and keep the core chemistry intact....seems to me to be pretty solid job performance. So there it is... I figured with all the Holland bashing this would be a good place for those of you haters and "Holland sucks" folks to begin to make amends for the final push through the playoffs and can all have a group hug and move on. Great deadline acquisitions and we are a MUCH better suited team for the playoffs. Excellent work Mr. Holland! brutus

I actually dont think this is a bad thing at all...let them play our skeleton crew team and frankly i dont want the presidents trophy or to win the west...it seems like bad luck for us when we do....let someone else go in as the "favorite" brutus

No...you are not...but I am still giving him benefit of the doubt as he has only played like 100+/- games so far in the NHL and is basically what could be considered about halfway through his second year...I am not quite as bad a Lilja basher as many around here, although I have seen flashes of ineptitude by him, he is not as bad as many would have us believe. I do think he is an average D-man at best and by playing with Nick, Chris and the rest that makes him look even worse than he really is. I think he is a solid 4-5 D-man on many if not most teams. I WOULD like to see him use his size a little more on the 'protection' side of things but he has clearly dempnstrated that it is not his nature nor his game to do so...I dont know very much abot him before he came to Detroit...was he ever, and I hate to use this term with him but I couldnt think of a better one, a 'tough guy'...term used very liberally in this case? brutus brutus

You know...I was reading some of the other team forums, which I dont usually do because who has time for them. Between work, kids and my life I usually could care less about what they have to say. But I was surprised by some of the vitriolic venom spewed forth at some of our players. Particularly Holmstrom and Matlby; I guess I never truly realized how good these guys are at what they do...KUDOS to them. On both the St. Louis (B)lose forum and the divealanch forum there seems to be a hatred that goes beyond normal rationalization. And now throwing Bertuzzi into the mix it becomes downright comical Oh...and note to self and others... don't get into a pissing contest with betterREDthandead...he will win. I have seen it happen all too often. brutus

HALF! ...only half?? I think that is one of the largest understatements I have seen in a long time. Between the grit slappies, the Holland sucks crowd, the various player hating bandwagons and the general unreasonable expectations I think that number is WAAAAY higher. I think fairyforsberg hit it right on the head...or the ankle as the case may be. brutus
