Matt Martin hit on Keith Ballard.. DIRTY
MabusIncarnate replied to HadThomasVokounOnFortSt's topic in General
It really looked like Martin was going in to finish his check, and last second for whatever the reason Ballard spun around and decided to put his face in the direction of the boards instead of letting Martin hit him on the side. It looked like he lined him up for a clean hit, elbows were down, leading with the shoulder, and Ballard's reaction movement caused it to be a dangerous hit. If he would have just taken it where he stood, it would have been just a check. In my opinion, Martin shouldn't get a suspension. I don't think it was dirty with vicious intent, I think the reaction to the incoming check was the worst part of the scenario. -
I've been to a lot of hockey games in a bunch of cities, i've seen the Flyers at both The Spectrum and First Union Center, Devils at Continental Airlines Arena, Rangerss at MSG, the Pens at the Igloo, Thrashers at Phillips Arena, Predators at Bridgestone Arena, Carolina at RBC Center, The Whalers at the Civic Center, and of course the Wings at the Joe. I would put the Joe first, i've never had a bad seat, the atmosphere is great, and I always have a great experience when I attend. If I had to pick a second, it would be Phillips Arena where the Thrashers used to play. I got free club seat tickets with my job 5-6 times per season and always went, the arena itself is awesome although half of it was typically empty. Good food, fair prices, and it was attached directly to a bunch of restaurants and CNN so at intermission it was easy to go get some Moes or Taco Bell if you didnt want a hot dog, and you didn't have to walk outside of the stadium at all. It was also likely the cleanest stadium I have visited. My least favorite as a Wings fan in an enemy stadium was both Flyers arenas, with the Rangers in close 2nd.

Foreigner (Although there is a band called "Immigrant" that fits also but figured wasn't what you were going for) The slayer of Goliath meets the name of an old pioneer knife.

Strongly considering banning Jimmyemeryhunter for posting something so offensive on the forums. That video is clearly a violation of some rule and I want that minute of my life back. (Yes. I made it a minute).

Just when I think I have it all down, I know it all, I can make bold predictions that come true, I take Jonathan Cheechoo in the 2nd round of my fantasy hockey draft and finish in dead last place. There is a fact in that amusing (and true) statement, that even as incredible as one player can look for one or two week, up to two full seasons, there is always the chance that they flop, fall off, stop producing, lose that "spark" to the point where I am not only very reserved on my predictions and statements about players, I only find comfort in those like Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidstrom that have proven time and time again for most of their career that they just have it. On LGW here, we see many sides of a lot of fans, those who still aren't convinced about a lot of our players, to those who debated and argued for a year about Brunner and Clarkson being on this team or not, just to see them inevitably flop hard and become terrible acquisitions for the teams they signed with. Yet a lot were tooth and nail convinced they were the answer, Clarkson after one good season was worth 5 million to bring in here and take the place of some of the youth that eventually came up like Nyquist and Tatar. If you look on it now, which I can safely say 30% of the LGW community wanted us to have Brunner and Clarkson right now, what position would we be in if both were signed to 4-5 year conctracts keeping Nyquist and Tatar in the minors? But the fact is, no one knows what the future will bring. We make predictions on our observations as fans, sometimes they are right, a lot of times they are wrong. It's part of the spine that makes a forum posting sports fan thrive, it sparks our conversations and debates, disagreements and arguments. We like to act like we know everything, that management is moronic and we could run the team better than the real higher ups do, but at the end of the day we are just passionate fans with strong opinions on the team that we dedicate a portion of our life watching, loving, and talking about who are more often wrong than we care to admit.

If You Could Be Mod For A Day, What Would You Do
MabusIncarnate replied to Rivalred's topic in Water Cooler
I'd tell that Mabus mod how awesome he was and bask in his greatness for the full 24 hours. -
Yes, especially the one where you have to taste baby food. The person below me has neglected the person below me thread for a while.

Let's get back on track here and stick with the topic, which is the Tatar appreciation thread, not the Weiss debate thread. I didn't honestly expect this kind of start out of Tatar, I think a lot of us were focused on Nyquist emerging as the young goal scorer this season, but it's been a pleasant surprise to see Tatar scoring out there as much as he has been. I hope it keeps up and he stays consistent, and it's been exciting to watch this far.

GDT 12/7 GDT : Red Wings 3 at Hurricanes 1
MabusIncarnate replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
GDT looks fantastic. 2 more points to be had, let's snag them up and keep this great start to the season rolling. I've been thrilled with the resilience this team has shown, the ability to come back and hold leads in tight games, kill off important PK situations and secure these much needed wins and points early on. With Weiss playing as well as he has, Howard's strong play, and the kids stepping it up, there truly is a strong balance out there that is capable of competing every night. It's an exciting season so far to be a Wings fan. Keep it up boys, LGW! -

Flashy, any games i'm scheduled in for that you want to grab up, by all means shoot me a PM and we'll make it happen. You know how we've done it in the past, i'll gladly step out of a slot if it means we get an original FlashyG creation this season.

Updated original post, sorry for the lack of a normal GDT, work life calls. Did my best to put out the general information with lines, starting goalies, and game time. LGW!

I would love to know how you know DeKeyser is her favorite. Scratch that, maybe I wouldn't. Regardless, I have faith we can beat the ginger twins and take another W against the Nucks. LGW!! -
I'm taking the vacant Vancouver spot for today just so we have a GDT up for the afternoon discussion. Also bumping this back up to the front of the forum in efforts to garner more interest from our fellow artistic LGW posters.

gdt 11/28 GDT - Red Wings @ Devils - 7:00 PM EST
MabusIncarnate replied to MabusIncarnate's topic in General
I'm feeling a lot more comfortable with Weiss having 5 points in his first 3 games back. It's not like he's old either, he's sitting at 31 and had a lot of health issues. If he keeps producing and stays healthy, he can be the difference maker we thought we were getting to begin with. -
