Who would you take in a shootout for the Wings?
MabusIncarnate replied to wingedominance13's topic in General
If last season was an indication, trade for Oshie and put it on his shoulders. On the current team, probably Datsyuk, but it's tough to have much faith in any of our players being consistent in a shootout enough to pinpoint one as the unquestionable go-to shootout player. -
I have over 200,000 miles on my SUV. I'll keep driving it until it dies on me and then i'll move on. The person below me is watching the Lions in their NFL season opener.

That's actually a pretty solid looking jersey honestly, add a gray stripe to the bottom and a couple on the sleeves and we might be on to something here.

Signed Wings re-sign Cleary $1.5 mill + $1mill in game bonuses
MabusIncarnate replied to anthonyn66's topic in General
You left out the part where you went running after him, pen and paper in hand, screaming "Danny, Danny!" trying to get an autograph. We know how much you love your Danny Cleary. -
I was under this logic until I got a dog, the pitiful eyes of a "starving" dog make me weak and force me to share. The person below me has been surprised by a sighting of an insect or animal they didn't know lived in their region.

Sounds like a solid FlashyG photoshop opportunity.

Las Vegas rumored to get an expansion team
MabusIncarnate replied to Bannedforlife's topic in General
Yeah, I mean Phoenix is doing so well, let's toss another team right next to them. So what fun and exciting name are they going to slap on this one? If any of those cities was going to be the first "lock" to get an NHL expansion team, Vegas is the last one on the list I thought would be receiving one. Seattle or QC makes the most sense. -
Oh but of course their cash cow HUT will still be there, so they can have their $20 player card pack deals and bank on those every week. EA has proven time and time again that money is top priority. I've been playing versus since Sega Genesis hockey games. For me it's run it's course, that's why I loved EASHL so much because it was an entirely different way to play the game. With full human control, there is no "glitching" or exploiting the AI goaltender all game with short side high corner goals that go in 100% of the time if you shoot from the right area of the ice. With the human element there, 6 human players versus 6 human players, it's true competition and team work to succeed and win games. NHL 13 and 14 combined, I had about 2,700 EASHL games played, got my Legend 3 card within the first 6 weeks of the games release and played it around 5 times a week. Now I gotta find something new to binge out on when i'm bored at night and looking to game.

I'll be the minority here and say Datsyuk. I won't deny that Feds was super skilled, but he also had a pretty tremendous team around him. Datsyuk would have better numbers if he was playing with the team that Fedorov was playing for back then. Again, no discredit to skill level, sometimes the quality of players around you make you play better. Fedorov, there is no reason why he shouldn't make the HOF. Datsyuk, I feel like he absolutely should, I feel pretty confident that he will, but I understand if he doesn't.

I was originally going to purchase an Xbox One and NHL 15 the same day, with the news that there will be no EASHL, I won't be purchasing NHL 15 this year at all. I run a team for an organized EASHL league, and it's about the only mode I play. With the announcement that it will not be in 15 on next gen consoles, I really don't have much reason anymore to buy it, and i'm pretty annoyed to be honest. The league I am in may do NHL 15 on the 360 next season because it will still contain EASHL, and i'm still deciding if I will pick it up because I know how minimal the differences will be compared to NHL 14 and I don't know if I want to support EA for another $60 this year after this decision.

So next gen consoles? Who is making the jump
MabusIncarnate replied to frankgrimes's topic in Water Cooler
I was given access to the Destiny beta, and the game is pretty phenomenal even in it's early stages. It reminds me of a blend of Mass Effect and Halo, with MMO elements like Phantasy Star. I'm really excited for it, i've played a lot of online games, but nothing quite like this, and it feels fresh and different compared to other sci-fi shooter/RPGs. -
For some reason, going by the topic title I thought this was going to be some kind of Game of Thrones related thread. If I had to wear one ugly sweater this winter, that would be the one.

I don't like Game of Thrones. -
Flashy congrats man, i'll make sure I put you down for half of the GDT work for us this upcoming season.

Surprised there was no inclusion of the Minnesota Wild logo, it's both a nature scene with trees and a river, and the head of a bear. Cool share, I haven't seen/noticed a few of these.

MabusIncarnate replied to frankgrimes's topic in Water Cooler
Yeah I just added 8 games this week due to the "Ultimate Summer Sale", including Forza Horizon, Payday 2, Plants Vs Zombies Garden Warfare, Halo: Spartan Assault, and a few others. The backlog seems to grow more than it shrinks. -
Looks like you are standing tall with a comfortable 78 vote lead. Keep it up, i'd love to see you get the W this year.
-
Any HFBoards users out there, please support Flashy here and get your vote in. He puts in countless hours into GDTs not only there, but here on LGW also. This is an opportunity for us to give back to someone who dedicates a lot of time and effort for free just for our entertainment. Let's bring him to the final and get him the recognition he deserves.

Last season, Buff scored 56 points in 78 games, 256 shots, 213 hits and 80 blocked shots. For someone that plays that physical, still managed under 100 PIM. Just saying, heavy point shot PP guy that rips it on net a LOT, will take the body and put up points like a top 6 forward, i'll take him in a second. Sounds like he has a lot of attributes we were severely lacking last season, especially in playoffs.

Can Z and Pav do anything to protest? (not that they would)
MabusIncarnate replied to wheelchairwing's topic in General
A fan perspective and a player perspective are two entirely different things. Who knows what the feeling is in the locker room, how Pav and Zett feel about the current condition and standing of the team. We are on the outside watching, they are the ones playing the game. Considering the respect levels, the commitment by both players, no. I don't see a thing coming from either player as an effort of protest because the first day of free agent signing didn't go our way. The offers were put in place, some guys took less to play elsewhere. I'm not sure what good it would do to have our most valued players start turning against the organization instead of trying to make the best of a bad situation and win games as they are paid to do. -

I've been on the road most of the day and just got in to see what the Wings did today. So uh, what? We bolster the defense by giving one of our problematic defenders a raise and bring in Porter? I really don't even know what to say looking at what happened today. -
39/50... Only two I missed on the left column were #2 and #23. I too was pretty surprised by who it was, not even sure why the name didn't come to mind at all.

Land both and most of our issues from last season, injuries aside, are resolved. Get Kindl and Lashoff off that blue line in place of Myers and Yandle? Yes please. Realistically, knowing only one will happen, we land one of these guys and another like Meszaros or Gilbert and the Wings really bolster their D this upcoming season. It's all about filling needs and what Kenny can git dun.

I feel like Stastny would make more sense, but still don't feel like we have the need for another center right now. He is younger, he is skilled, and comes with a better price tag over Thornton which I approve of also.
