It came down to us or Minnesota for Parise and Suter, they chose to play together in Minnesota. The effort was there, he recognized what we needed and threw a generous offer to both, they elected to play for Minny instead. Other opportunities like this will come up again in the future, I can guarantee it. I don't think because we missed out on that situation that our future is now doomed and we'll be a non-playoff team for the next 10 years or so. I have faith in the management system to get what we need and continue to contend going forward.

Don't forget about the salary gone when those two are gone, which can be used to sign 2-3 quality free agents. It's not all about minor system development or nothing, they are capable of getting players outside of the existing team.

I personally like the fact that Babs realized the vets weren't getting it done and buried them on the 3rd line. Let the kids do the work, they have been the ones winning us games.

For me it's the perfect scenario. Monster came from Toronto that didn't give him much of a chance, gave up on him quick, and he likely has a bit of a bone to pick. Toronto is slumping and recent goaltending has been atrocious. It's a game we have to win, it's a game that Gus can have his hand in, damage his former team's playoff hopes a bit, send a message that he can be a big time goalie when called upon, and most importantly, get us that W and 2 points. I haven't given up on Howard, I know what he's capable of, I know what he's like when he's on top of his game, and I don't think that goalie is lost. Right now, it's too important to remain patient regardless if this game was his fault or not. Look at the winning percentages of both goalies, and we need wins. Plain and simple.

I want to see Monster in net against Toronto. Big, meaningful game, get in Howard's head a bit and start the backup. Send that message that faith is dwindling a bit and maybe he'll get back on his A game. We seem to win more with Gus between the pipes, it's worth a shot at this point.

Howard gave up one weak one, been more of a defensive lapse but some will still claim it's Howard's fault 100% i'm sure. Kronwall has been uncharacteristically bad tonight.

Kronwall has consistently been a bright spot in this dismal season, I can't count how many "bad games" he's had on one hand. He's human, even Lidstrom had the occasional bad game, burying him like this is a bit ridiculous right now.
