This does not involve the Red Wings, Hockey, or the NHL, hence it was moved to The Water Cooler. As previously stated with Olympic threads this year, tread lightly as a turn into political discussion in any form will see this thread locked as well. With that said, i'm glad there was a resolution and no one was hurt.

Edler has since had some injury issues and not been quite on his game. To me that says more eager to be dealt from Vancouver and a potentially cheaper asking price.

I'm generally the optimist fan, always in high spirits, confident, and faithful in this team. I gotta say, watching all the games this season, I believe the offense can get the job done if we are entirely healthy. The defense... without adding at least one more impact defender, ideally a top 2, It's hard for me to visualize a deep run in the playoffs this year. We have too many average defenders that make average defender mistakes that prove to be costly in playoffs as we saw in the series against Chicago last year. If we can land one more good/great defenseman, the sky is the limit once playoffs start and who knows what can happen. As it sits now it's very hard for me to remain confident.

I'm not all familiar with medical stuff like this, but I didn't think a stroke at his age was even all that common. What a terrifying ordeal, I wish the best for him and his health going forward. From what I understand a stroke can lead to partial paralysis on one side of the body but this isn't always the case. You can have a stroke and still retain full function of your body afterwards.

I think a lot of people have trouble grasping that even the worlds most top level elite goalie is going to struggle and have bad games. It's just going to happen. They will struggle at times, they will slump, they will have a bad stretch. Laying it out simply, he isn't an elite goalie, but he's a great goalie. Like any NHL goalie, he has his ups and he has his downs. For whatever the reason expectations for him to be top level and elite every single game resulting in a 60-0-0 regular season record is unrealistic as a hockey fan, yet he continues to get more grief than praise. This is just where I stand and how I see it, opinions differ and clash, but that's where I stand and I remain confident with Howard as our starting netminder for upcoming seasons.

I agree, it's not an ideal time to trade a player when they have been out with injury for an extended period of time, especially a concussion. One of those articles did say there was an offer with "three pieces" but Vancouver wanted a 4th which inevitably ended the talks at that time. I don't think a 1 for 1 scenario would be the kind of deal on the table here.

Actually it's kind of odd this speculation was posted up, last night I was talking with a couple of friends of mine that live in Vancouver and are both big nucks fans. They started talking about hearing on the local radio station that the Red Wings had interest in Edler and had inquired with the team. One brought it up and the other confirmed that he heard the same kind of rumor going around. Take it as you will, it's just word of mouth from an unconfirmed source, but this rumor (not involving Franzen or any Wings player names mentioned) does have a little bit of validity for the sake of it being a rumor. I pretty much only play Club/OTP outside of the GM Connected league I run. My EASHL skater is RD, 94 goals 343 assists +117 in 507 games. Legend 3 card, I only play defense.

My wife has a Civilization Revolution addiction, it pleases me that she has her own account and plays games but sometimes, especially now with her having a broken foot, she marathon games for hours on end and keeps my precious xbox away from me. I've been working on the backlog lately, just finished up Mafia 2 and started on Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Next on the list will likely be Final Fantasy XIII-2 or i'll return to Dark Souls. I buy up a lot of "Deal of the Week" digital downloads when they are five bucks and now I have a healthy stack of games I need to play. I'm also eagerly awaiting the 2nd part of Burial at Sea DLC for Bioshock Infinite.

Unfortunately Monster left the game during first intermission with injury, I hope it doesn't damage his change his path to the Olympics at all and it was something minor. It was a great combined effort from the two tonight.

I'll take on the homework, something new to unleash during the next GDT if all goes well.
