Are we sure these aren't for the figure skating squad? These jerseys are just horrible. I mean.. eww.

I do, and play a lot of video games. Television is right up there with chicken soup in the healing process. The person below me has a themed calendar hanging in their home somewhere.

State your unpopular opinion *Mod Warning Post #'s 200 & 219*
MabusIncarnate replied to Jedi's topic in Water Cooler
I despise Walmart, I don't shop there, and it pisses me off when people tell me "It's cheaper at Walmart". No one considers the tens of thousands of businesses and jobs they crushed when they save nine cents on a can of baked beans. To further Euro_Twins statement, I like Zachary Quinto a lot as Spock and think the modern movies (Into Darkness as well) are the best variants of the Star Trek films. I thought Waterworld was also an excellent movie. From now on anyone's "unpopular opinion" that I agree with is getting a like from me. This thread is fun. -
Yeah I constantly see you online playing something different, not a lot of people play that much of a variety like you and I do. Dark Souls does have a very steep learning curve, it's complex, and you are looking at close to 200 hours to get 1000 gamerscore out of it. I invested about 35 hours and took a small break but now i'm getting back into it again. It's really up to you what direction you go, it allows you to go to insanely difficult points early on so there's a lot of experimenting and figuring out what you can handle and what you can't depending on your level and class. Wiki has a good walkthrough and beginners path that i've looked to a few times, as it's a game that takes multiple playthroughs to finish, there's parts you tend to favor and avoid initially and you can finish a playthrough while passing over 2/3rds of the game. The most important thing is you need to accept are going to die a lot and you need to welcome it as part of the learning process and not get frustrated. If you do get back into it I can offer up assistance and you can even open up humanity and I can jump in your game with you to help with the tougher bosses.

MabusIncarnate replied to MabusIncarnate's topic in Water Cooler

Would have been cooler if it was a ninja instead. Or Chuck Norris.

All the power to Teemu, the man can obviously still play hockey, age is a number. Hope he tosses together another 70 point season and goes out with a bang. Love the guy personally and glad he's decided to give it one last go.

He went to the Alex Semin school of fighting. Kid will be on cloud 9 telling all his friends he got into a brawl with Evgeni Malkin, good for him.

I'm playing Fallout New Vegas right now along with Dark Souls. Anyone who enjoys personal torture in gaming would enjoy Dark Souls, it has the reputation of being among the most difficult games in this current generation. It's viciously punishing when you make mistakes, but the game is truly brilliant if you are willing to play patient and die a lot to learn from your mistakes. It easily has some of the best enemy design i've ever seen in a game. I love the game, but it's a tremendous challenge that can push you to your limits in gaming and is very rewarding in the long run.

I'd be all for a new NHL Hitz game, Konami actually built a fun hockey game back in the day and i'm confident they could still produce something of quality. I mean it's a video game after all, it doesn't HAVE TO be sim hockey, it can be a bit over the top and I don't mind as long as it plays tight and it's fun. It's getting easier these days to pinpoint what developers care about creating good games and what ones only want to make money.

I mean.. how many years has it been since the backhand forehand breakaway move was labeled as a "glitch" because when executed properly it will go in 100% of the time. Same with the short side drag wrister over the goalies shoulder. Yet both still exist, playing the NHL 14 demo, they are both as unfairly effective as they have been in previous years. I don't know EA, maybe FIX this? And I agree its the same as Madden and Call of Duty games, minimal change or improvements, just the constant recycling of the same game on the same engine that performs the same way year after year to milk out a profit. But as long as people are buying them every single year, which they are, they will continue to do so because minimal effort at maximum profit is ideal for any company. I continue to hope that 2k decides to throw themselves back out there and develop hockey games again next gen, i'd like to have the option again as I used to rotate on which one i'd purchase each year. NFL 2k games were always superior to Madden in my opinion, and there were a few solid NHL 2k titles along the way also. When there is really only one option that exists, you are left with a "take it or leave it" mentality from the developers, and I think that's about where EA sits now.

He truly is legitimately awesome. He's tossing together yet another stunning season and can do so without the Ryan Braun energy drink. I'm a big Braves fan, so I tend to hesitate to post here sometimes because i'm likely the only non-Tigers fan but that Heyward injury was pretty scary. Hoping for a speedy recovery out of him.

I think FrankGrimes about summed it up. Especially must consider that this is the final NHL game of this generation, as they are already working on the development of next gen hockey, even less effort will be going into NHL 14. With that said, I will likely be skipping this year because of what Frank mentioned and reasons above. I'm already a bit more excited for NHL 15 when everything is rebuilt from the ground up and everything is improved all around. I won't be shelling out another $60 this year for minor tweaks and existing problems going overlooked.

Not to my knowledge, but who knows what those creepy surgeons are doing when you are under... The person below me will make honorable mention of an older LGW poster that is never around anymore.

EXACTLY! This is one of the greatest shows ever created. And i'm not talking about in recent memory, I mean ever. The confrontation between Hank and Walt in the garage was so intense, with these knowingly being the final episodes, that feeling of absolutely anything can happen is making it so much better. A lot of friends were saying last weeks episode was weak and slow but I found it to be necessary for the overall build up until the final blow up in brilliant Breaking Bad fashion. The only thing wrong with this show is that it's coming to an end.

I hate Batman, the movies, the video games, and think he's a tremendously overrated superhero. -
This kind of irked me a little bit also to be honest, it may not have been the smartest idea to sign him given his injury history, but the guy had barely any opportunity at all last season to even attempt to prove his worth. I think he will be a bit more valuable than some of the people who have already written him off think he will.

Claude Giroux gets attacked by a golf club
MabusIncarnate replied to turbowhistle86's topic in General
He's gonna need to fine tune those golfing skills if he plans on being a Flyer for a while. -
Someone call Rev. Sharpton, there's discrimination against the "Black"hawks. Okay bad joke. Only an organization that thinks yellow ice is a good idea would come up with a plan like this, best wishes Trashville.

Agreed completely, i'm expecting a different team under a new coach. A sharp tongue in New York kept Torts there longer than he should have been and he doesn't fit anywhere as an NHL coach. Expect a big rebound for Brad Richards this season, and that team should be a stronger contender in coming seasons.

When this was all happening with Phoenix, I could personally care less if they relocated, disbanded, or fell from the face of the planet. I think it's a different story with the Devils, they have a rich history in the NHL, they belong and deserve to remain in New Jersey with financial problems aside. If the Devils moved or were cut from the NHL, as a fan, it would sting. I hope for their sake this financial disaster gets worked out somehow and NJ can remain where they are.

Console version of Diablo 3 is at the top of my list now, there's not a whole lot i'm looking forward to outside of that and the Flashback remake arcade release coming at the end of this month.

I believe it to be authentic. If you look at a bunch of examples, a lot of things stand out to this signature. Look at a few below. http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images;_ylt=A0oG7jPp.f1RHzsADS5XNyoA?p=al+arbour+autograph&fr=yfp-t-600&fr2=piv-web The open ended A in both the first and last name, how HOF '96' is written out in a lot of these autographs are very close. The fluidity of the autograph is also correct. I think your friend can breathe easy, also in general when you get phony autographs online the seller doesn't have anywhere close to a 12k positive ebay reputation. I worked for a legitimate sports collectibles business for years so i'm pretty familiar with determining what is authentic and what isn't and especially what to look for an warning signs of phony sigs. I think you are good to go with the example you provided.

This is kind of my thinking at this point also. Its tough to evaluate a rookie player from a shortened season looking for a contract asking for that kind of money, it's like buying a race horse after seeing it run half a lap. If he wants to stay in the NHL, take a smaller, short contract, see how it goes, worst case scenario he makes 4 million dollars to bring back home with him for playing two seasons of hockey.

Blackhawks selling melted ice from Finals
MabusIncarnate replied to turbowhistle86's topic in General
They would quadruple their money if they claimed Justin Bieber stepped on it.
