Probably the ducks new starting goalie.. look at his numbers besides his win/loss record. He's been phenomenal for them. -

...or can he? Z - Flip - Brunner 1st and 4th lines tonight FTW. Injuries are killing us it's going to be pretty amazing if we pull off a win tonight. -

Dislike! Just kidding, Ducks have been among the hottest teams lately I just like to stay optimistic. Going to be a very tough one tonight. -

Looks like it's Howard going again tonight, hoping for a bright performance and really hoping that he doesn't start to get burned out with the hefty workload. Mikeal really hoping they pull off a win for you after making that road trip to see them play. That's commitment. -

Roast Duck, Peking Duck, Orange Duck, Braised Duck, Seared Duck, Crispy Duck, Duck on a stick... End their hot quacking streak boys, Wings take it 5-2. GO WiNGS!!! -
I would be opposed to splitting up Z and Brunner this soon. Brunner is still pretty green in the NHL and Zett is his one source of familiarity and chemistry. In the future sure, but look at Zett's production so far, you can't argue with the results. There's not much reason to split things up at this time, but once the scoring slumps come, and i'm sure they will, i'd be willing to see the top two lines get mixed up and see what works better.

We could just throw everyone off and leave it to the discretion of the team's own arena like they do in baseball. We could have "Mile Long Stadium" and "The Glass Monster" with 40 foot tall boards where over the glass delay of game penalties become a non-factor. Random length and width for each stadium would be entertaining, imagine the ice space in Phoenix with all that extra seating room to spare.

I used to love Super Metroid and the Star Wars games on SNES. I didn't know they were making Pikmin 3, I played the first one on Gamecube and loved it, never got a chance to play the second one though. I plan on picking up Dead Space 3 very soon.

To me it came down to Flip or Huds, and Huds was the odd man out. Val needs to stay, people need to consider the age of Dats and Zett and that we need some younger skill for our future that aren't unproven prospects. Considering options, Filppula is among the last i'd move because long term we need him pretty badly and he's an important part of our overall development.

You have a tattoo of Calvin pissing on the logo also? Even now you make excuses for why we aren't playing worse and why we will in the near future. Come March and we are still playing well it's gonna turn into "Just wait til April when we are good and tired, boy will we suck then." And i'm just waiting for the new thread to pop up as soon as we go on a 4-5 losing skid at some point this season making sure everyone here knows you were "right". I'm fine with criticism, I really am, but I don't think i've read a positive word you've typed about this team. Ever. A balance of good and bad is fine on a team fan site, but the consistent and repetitive ripping is bound to draw some negative attention, it's nothing personal but ffs act like you are a fan of the team once a month. And no, cutting Howard and letting Mrazek play after he played one NHL game and performed well would definitely make Holland look like a fool, which is your every wish but isn't going to happen in the real NHL. So no, I don't see how that works, a Victor Fasth scenario is very rare and far between, and outside of injury Hiller has been much worse than Howard over the last couple seasons. Mrazek is hardly a proven and viable replacement for Howard if we even did need one, which we don't. The vote tally on this thread sitting at 1 star about sums it up.

I'll shadow what i've said about a lot of aging defensemen that have come up in discussion, for the right price, why not? Whitney has shown signs of being an assist machine, and our D is hurting. I wouldn't be opposed to trying, and it's better than spending too much for the likes of a D guy like Bouwmeester.
-
Axe you also continued to rail this team saying we were pretty much doomed to fail this season and Holland would get what's coming to him at the end of the year because of our miserable performance... As we sit in a playoff spot. Now that it appears you are wrong about that so far, it's time to start stabbing elsewhere, in this case, Howard. And of course it's followed by another new thread by you self assuring yourself that you have to get some point across to drag this team down further. I'm really starting to question whether or not you are a Wings fan or a fan of another team incognito. Howard is fine, more importantly, WE HAVE A WINNING RECORD. Only Yankees and Flyers fans should have room to complain considering the season that's been put forth so far, but we aren't those kinds of fans. Is it that hard to sit back, appreciate the fact that we have hockey back and we are playing a hell of a lot better than most people anticipated?

Yeah this, it was a bit of sarcasm. Nashville wasn't exactly the smartest move either but a fan base surprisingly caught on. But yeah, more a stab at them putting a team in Phoenix, Florida, and Atlanta (That failed once already).
-
Surprised they aren't putting teams in Nevada and New Mexico. Smart decision to put a couple teams in Canada, not entirely sure if expanding is the best decision but if it helps the NHL recover from it's losses during the lockout then why not?
-
It's similar in reference to how they addressed their defensive losses, they lost Pronger Carle, replaced them with Schenn Foster which both are a downgrade. We lost Lidstrom Stuart and replaced them with Quincey Colaiacovo, both are also a downgrade. I do agree that overall our defense is better, but neither team replaced their top D with other top D players.
-
You need to factor in the players on their lines for all of those seasons, how often they were on the same line together, injuries and length of time missed, etc. There's nothing reflecting favoritism here at all because the differences are so small and there's a tremendous amount of factors outside of the numbers.
-
Kurtis Foster if that even counts. Philly about did what we did in replacing their two top defensemen.
-
Yeah i'm pretty confident he pots his 10th tonight. At this pace he may meet last seasons goal total in half the games.
-
Games already underway but here's my picks for the night. Center Ice is acting up so i'll be watching Pittsburgh New York Islanders.. New Jersey Buffalo Flyers RED WINGS Jets Capitals Islanders Panthers Wild Ducks Vanek with the assist.. he's looking pretty awesome in the early stages of this season.
-
Good news is we are most likely facing whatever backup replaced the injured Nilstrop as Lehtonen played last night unless he's getting double duty. I want a showing like we had against Minnesota, let's win definitively boys. I predict 6-2 final Wings. Nevermind looks like Lehtonen again..
-
This is different.. but I like it.

RTooDToo needs to be someone's username on this site. Boba Fetterov is the only thing I can think of and it doesn't even apply to the current team, got some creative Star Wars minds around here. I love this thread.

All opinions aside... props to the OP for creating a new thread as a new member that isn't a recycled version of 10 other active threads. I enjoyed reading through this, league perspectives like this aren't normally a point of discussion around here. I'm reasonably ignorant to hockey leagues outside of the NHL so I don't have much to contribute but I wanted to compliment the OP and got a little more educated in the process.

Finding a dance partner and rebuilding our team.

Be patient he's still typing out the 6th continuation of this post. Datsyuk should and will retire in Detroit. -
Oh yeah you are absolutely right, my bad. I was kinda wondering why people were saying 5.75 was a steal didn't realize that was total over the two year span. So yeah, that's a steal.
