I think taking away the crease would be like taking away home plate from a pitcher. I played a few years as goalie for my high school hockey team, and I relied heavily on the crease to figure out my dimensions. I think it would be catastrophic to introduce this and especially toward veteran goalies it would present a very steep challenge. The crease, even if it has no standing with the current rules, is an essential guideline for any NHL goalie and it would be too significant of a change for it to be removed. You need to maintain some kind of regularity not only for the integrity of the sport, but keeping a balance in the record books and not changing too much from the game how it used to be played to the current layout.

Yeah it's definitely more of a Madden "curse" over an EA sports game curse. Regardless, I really don't think an athlete making the cover of a video game has any impact on how they perform that season. I'm not the superstitious type so it's tough to buy into any of the curse talk, so with that said, I love that pic up top with Dat's number being the 13 and want to own it this upcoming October.

That's awesome, I bet it was pretty electric, it's a shame you didn't get to witness the no-no. I can't recall being at a baseball game when a pitcher was even close to a no hitter or a perfect game.

Honestly this is probably the primary cause of all the negs to the posters above. It's taking something that's been posted about and discussed and debated multiple times in other threads and it's just grinding it further then it needs to go. I've been a member for a long time but i'm relatively new to posting here, and i've found that the majority of the people here are knowledgeable and fair as long as you aren't constantly falling outside of the guidelines of the forum rules. Fact is, we made the playoffs, broke the home ice record for most consecutive regular season wins, and overall had a successful season even through major injury problems. Filppula is emerging as a valuable young player for this team, and Smith really looks like he can develop into a franchise player. Sure we got knocked out of the first round, but look at all the other excellent teams that fell out in the first round also. It's gonna happen, and i'm not very concerned about the future of this team because we really haven't fallen all that far. Once we go a season or two missing the playoffs i'll begin to look for answers.

This league can't suffer another lockout. I don't even want to think about it as a possibility right now, the idea scares me.

Scoring 40 goals in one season does not make him a 40 goal scoring forward. Cheechoo had a 50 goal season once, should we lock him up with a contract? Past couple seasons he averaged 24 goals per season and he's had a severe decline in production and overall attitude. He isn't not scoring because he's shooting a ton and getting unlucky, he's not scoring because he doesn't give a damn. His one 84 point season was a fluke and i'm confident in predicting that he doesn't come close to a season like that from here on out. I'm seriously not trying to be a jerk or anything like that, but this guy has bad news written all over him. Overall package, i'll take Hudler underwhelming us over Semin floating around and bringing a s*** attitude to the locker room. We don't need it. Again, no disrespect intended at all to Tr!PoD, I value everyone's opinion. I just disagree with this one.

Agreed completely, i'm honestly surprised that they have retained Spezza this long and it really paid off this past season. Losing Chara was one of their biggest mistakes imo, imagine if their top D pairing right now was Chara and Karlsson, they might still be hanging around in the playoffs.

I think you've exhausted your point with illogical references, its just digging and beating the dead horse at this point. Let's keep on track here. Getting Karlsson on this team would be close to impossible, considering the sudden success of the Sens due to his offensive explosion this season I don't see Ottawa letting him go anytime soon. With that said, props to the OP for posting up something original here, it's still May and i'm already beginning to get bored with all the Parise and Suter talk. July can't come soon enough.

I'm still kicking myself for taking Ian White over Karlsson off waivers at the beginning of my fantasy hockey season this year. I pretty much agree with the first two replies to this thread, Crymson was dead on and Dabura is absolutely right, we'd benefit so much from a defensemen like Girardi on this team. He's the complete package in what you'd want out of a Defensemen even if he doesn't put up elite scoring numbers.
