I'm not particularly "offended" by this, and i'm not sure really what the rage is all about. He's not standing on a podium saying historically the original six is now the original twelve and throw the tradition of the original six out the window. He could call them part of "The First Expansion six" but that's just kind of dumb. If you want to get technical the Wings joined the league 15 years after Toronto and Boston, but neither of them are trying to claim they should be "The Original Two" or anything like that. St. Louis is one of the first 12 NHL teams, just like Vancouver and Buffalo are part of the original 14, and so on and so forth. He isn't claiming to change the historical original six to the original twelve, I think the quotation was taken very out of context if you read it again, all that's being stated here is St. Louis was one of the first 12 teams to join the NHL, which in fact they were. Guys I know it's the offseason and we are really bored, but come on. If I can be honest, they can market whatever they want, I remember growing up and there being a lot of speculation if there would even be an NHL in the future because of the lack of fan base and it was a struggling sport for a long time. Anything he does to improve the status of the sport, bring in more fans, and keep it afloat doesn't bother me in the slightest, but I don't even think it will go as far as a marketing scheme or anything like that. I think it was just a completely misinterpreted quotation from an article. Yeah especially with Beltre back in the lineup. Considering his offseason "issues", it's good to see Hamilton producing like a beast to start the year. I hate to be a homer, but the Braves have themselves a hell of a team this year also. Freeman and Heyward stepping up has been huge for their offense, and it doesn't hurt that Uggla is batting above .200.

Its all overblown speculation at this point, sure it makes sense, but has Holland flat out said "We are going to pursue Parise" or has Parise said "Detroit is one of my options"? If it has been said I apologize, but I don't recall either end mentioning eachother at this point, the deal makes sense but for all we know Holland could have no interest in paying out for Parise whatsoever and plans on going after someone else. I thought I was being generous voting 40% but everyone that voted above 50% may be gravely disappointed when you put it into perspective. Not trying to be a killjoy but we gotta consider the facts on top of how much we want this guy to play here.

Hypothetically does his viewpoint change if the Devils win the cup this year? Would he be more inclined to take the best offer from any team if he's fresh off of a Cup win or be more tempted to remain in NJ with the championship team? I think how deep the Devils go in the playoffs will impact a final decision from him when it's July. With that said it's kind of hard to judge at this point when there's still a few questions unanswered like is the cap really going to go up next season and what Lids is going to do. There's a lot of speculation right now and it's kind of irritating to wait until July especially when we aren't competing in the playoffs right now. Oh, and I picked 40%.

A big for Parise, Prust, Wideman. Penner doesn't interest me much, and Konopka is just a flat out goon who will put us on the PK more than we'd like. I like the idea of Prust because he will put up a decent amount of points on top of grinding, hitting, and fighting. Konopka offers no scoring depth whatsoever, he might get lucky with a small handful of assists but that's about it. I'm more into guys like Prust, Neil, Clutterbuck who can contribute offensively on top of being rough and intimidating. Hartnell, Backes or Marchand would be ideal adds if it were even a possibility, which it isn't.

Unreal.. I love hockey for this reason. Team barely makes it into the playoffs and is coasting through the playoffs like they are the favorite. I will say this may be a different series with a healthy Halak, he is the reason why I liked St. Louis so much to go far in the playoffs this year. I was never quite sold on Elliot but I knew what kind of damage Halak could do in the playoffs.
