Anyone catch this in the highlights? Man this had an old school feel to it, gotta love the heated rivalry.

I set it aside for a while, kinda waiting for the expansions at this point. When I left off, I was at the 205 hour mark, level 58.

I would love this, Visnovsky is probably my favorite non-wing defensemen. The guy had 68 points last season, granted he is 35, but if Lidstrom does decide to leave, Visnovsky could fill that defensive scoring void for a few more seasons.

I just got off work and I was watching highlights on NHL net and they said the Red Wings are pursuing Ruutu and have verbally expressed interest in adding him at the deadline. I know it's been mentioned a lot in this thread, but I think this further validates our suspicions, and i'd welcome adding him to our roster.

Yeah very doubtful, he might be the only player on that team that has been consistent and productive for the last three seasons. Even with as poor as they are playing this year he is still quietly putting together a solid season.

We do have a lot of depth at D, and I agree that we need to add a productive winger. Having Commodore as one of your reserves is a good sign that we are pretty well off. Living in Atlanta, I did see a lot of Thrashers games and Exelby was also a solid regular on their squad, i'm kinda surprised we haven't seen more of him since he's signed here.

I completely forgot we even had Exelby, I think Moen in this situation is a bit more logical. It really doesn't make a lot of sense to add another Center but i'd take Plekanec in a deal.

Yeah my thoughts exactly, They would be pretty lethal offensively if they pulled that off.

I consider Visnovsky much higher profile but he's one of my favorite active defensemen. He's an offensive threat night in and night out, I don't care how old he is, i'd love to see him in red and white.

Ryan is not consistent at all, didn't he have a 20+ game stretch without a point last season? He had a slump this year also, he's extremely streaky and I don't know how we would benefit more from him over Franzen. Considering playoff production i'd take Franzen over Ryan.

I wonder how many of them were crying and complaining about the management the day they signed Jeff Carter. It's not like there wasn't an effort to improve the team this past offseason, they added a key forward and defensemen. Sorry injuries have been keeping both off the ice but that's not really the fault of the team's management, what exactly do they want them to do? Thinking your team is going to go from crap to gold in half a season is unrealistic.

I'm just gonna go for unrealistic here, because there's definitely a handful of lesser known guys out there that I would like to see land here. Cal Clutterbuck, Chris Neil, Ladislav Smid, Michael Grabner, Nick Foligno, and Steve Ott just to name a few. Most have the physical qualities and can produce from time to time.

I'm much more attracted to the skills competition personally, I really haven't watched more than a period of an all-star game in a few years. I think with the recent addition of the Winter Classic it's suffering even more because the Classic does matter and counts as a regular season game, and there's a genuine excitement from the players and they go at it hard. Look at how many hits were in the Flyers/Rangers game this year, it was like a playoff game. With this event now taking place annually, i'm not sure there really is a need for an all-star game altogether. I prefer the Winter Classic much more as an overall NHL event.

I love the idea of Morrow on this team, not crazy about his age but what he can offer short term is substantial.

This lol... all this newer reality crap on tv like Pawn Stars, American Pickers, Storage Wars, it's all pretty bad but I keep watching it. Hardcore Pawn is definitely the worst of the bunch though.

I think about some of the contract hits out there like Scott Gomez at 7 mil and DiPietro signed through what, 10 years? Jeff Finger at $4 mil (yeah, Jeff who?) and suddenly a $2.8 mil contract for a hard working player doesn't sound so bad. It's not like we are at max on the cap either where his $2.8 mil is keeping us from signing someone else, we still have the room to do so.

Yeah we can nix any possibilities of Beauchemin as any kind of viable option now, i'm not sure about 3.5 mil a season though. I'd be more comfortable around 2.5 for the kind of player he is and his age. A lot of his value is in his play not in his production. He's still managed a +1 this season regardless of Anaheim's horrible start, and hes quickly approaching 100 hits and 100 shots blocked.

Being reported that Beauchemin resigns with Anaheim 3 years worth $10.5 million ($3.5 mil per year).

Hearing from a friend of mine that's a hab's fan that they may be landing Derek Roy. I don't know how credible this is but it's the only thing i've heard about what's potentially happening between the two teams today.

Wings are looking for a productive winger that will fill some depth needs on the team. Hemsky is just that, and is an inexpensive option for the package. I don't want him "so bad" but he's one of the tops on my list of guys I realistically hope we sign that will still leave us with cap room.

That's just embarrassing, I don't care what one said to the other to spark it if that was even the case. The game is over, this was unnecessary, i'd expect to see this in the NFL but not in hockey.

Oh and I think I would welcome a rental of Selanne for our playoff run this year. Wings have been interested in the past and rumors of him wanting to go to a contender and win a cup are buzzing around. Even if it was for half a season, look at the impact Jagr is having in Philly.
