I think Elliot in Ottawa this season would have been a much different story. Ottawa has been a pretty miserable team in the past few seasons which I think reflected on Elliot's numbers. Spezza was injured, and they didn't have solid core players stepping up like Greening and Foligno. He's a solid goaltender and I think St. Louis right now is in a great situation with the pair, I think once they solidify a starter they are gonna get a better contract.

i'm convinced at this point that every goalie that lands in Philly is doomed to suck. Honestly, since Ron Hextall when was the last time they had a solid consistent goaltender in that organization? I also read that Doan and Iginla will not be dealt, not that i'd necessarily want them here but all those rumors floating around those guys can now pretty much be put to rest unless it's strategy. I'd guess that if the GM says these guys aren't available now and another team really wants them, they may offer a bit more for that last push to get them.

Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium Finalized
MabusIncarnate replied to MabusIncarnate's topic in General
Absolutely thrilled, it's gonna be an excellent event and you gotta love the original 6 matchup. Not to mention we get a behind the scenes look in the Wings locker room when HBO airs 24/7! -
http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2012/01/red_wings_plan_to_explore_opti.html Article that was posted up a few minutes ago, states Ruutu and Hemsky specifically as players of interest.
-
Hemsky has only missed a handful of games more than Franzen since 05-06, and I don't think Franzen is worthless. Not to mention he'd come at about a quarter of the price. Even with my ongoing love for Hemsky, i'd rather have Ruutu of the two if it came down to it.

You gotta break it down though, look at his nearly full seasons 05-06 81GP 77PTS 07-08 74GP 71PTS 08-09 72GP 66PTS And even the past two seasons not including this year 09-10 22GP 22PTS 10-11 47GP 42PTS That combines for 64 points in 69 games, which means he remains consistent and bounces back from injury. Aside from the past two years, he really hasn't missed all that much time either, the girth was the past two seasons with his reoccurring problems that seem to be in check for the time being. Fact is he would probably come pretty cheap and i'd take a potential 70 point player for a 40 point player price anyday.

lmao @ the vid, I haven't seen that before. 100 ways to die in skyrim is also pretty amusing. To answer your question, side quests do not include miscellaneous quests, so that's probably why you haven't received the achievement yet.

Doing wonders for my fantasy team so far, keep it up guys.

I feel you completely, I'm really starting to miss the good old days when Ties existed. I'll predict this one 5-3 in the Wings favor, in a fast paced and slightly lapsed defensive effort on both ends.

Anyone see Verlander on Conan O'Brian the other night? He confessed that he eats Taco Bell before each start, breakfast of champions.
-
Yeah pretty much shocked that the Packers blew it to Eli and company, I was pretty confident that they were going to be the super bowl victors this year. Congrats to the Giants and all but damn Green Bay, way to throw out a brilliant season.

I've still managed to never visit or use Twitter, i'm an internet failure. Social networking in general isn't really interesting to me, yeah I have a facebook account that I check twice a year, but thats just because of peer pressure. All I see is a hub for people to find you that you never really liked and people you went to school with 10 years ago that you didn't know or talk to then and wonder why they want to be friends now.

I stated in another thread and I stand by it firmly, Hemsky and Ruutu on this team would be incredible. I don't think people realize how good of a player Hemsky is because of his absence due to injury these past few years, and lately this season he's shooting more and putting up a few more points. He's only 28, and has put up 70+ points in two seasons and falling just shy of a ppg pace on several other occasions. This guy can flat out play, injury risk or not. Ruutu is like a poor man's Nash, he hits, he shoots, and is gonna be consistently good for 50+ points in any healthy season. A prime example of a great balanced player stuck on a bad team that can potentially thrive in a Bertuzzi-like situation here in Detroit. He is also flexable as he's played C, LW, and RW this season, who doesn't want a guy like that? Both of them could land here and we could afford it, and i'd be thrilled to see either if not both wind up in the winged wheel.

If they made Datsyuk sheets i'd sleep on his face every night. I wouldn't say that about just anyone. I love you Pav!

This topic blew my mind until I read the thread, I thought it was in reference to the video game. I was thinkin.. is it really gonna be 24 years before a Red Wing is on the cover of an NHL game again and do they really determine it that far into the future? lol...

I'd take on Beauchemin as a comparable replacement, the guy plays physical, blocks a ton of shots and is a very underrated defensemen. I wouldn't necessarily prefer him over Stuart but I think if the situation required a deal to be made, this guy would be a good replacement. Unrealistically Visnovsky would be a better option

Eklund? Sometimes credible? Name one instance Seriously.. because I can't. I think the time to move JVR would be when he's healthy again, and I'm not entirely sure that's going to be before the deadline this year. I don't see him being dealt this season personally, but i've been wrong before. I don't see the wings making much of any impact either, I think we are gonna be much more active in the offseason when we have a better idea of who's going and who isn't. I think this is gonna be a fun ongoing thread that's gonna heat up at the weeks go by, as long as Hockey Buzz gibberish is kept to a minimum. It's my favorite time of the year, and it's honestly been a relatively dull past two years on deadline day so i'd love to see some blockbusters and shockers this year.

Not really sure what you disagree with here and the reason for that comment, you wouldn't want players like Ryan, Perry, Iginla, or Parise to wind up playing here? I would, and i'd take Nabokov over Conklin as our backup any day. Aside from Doan and Gill who are both gross, if feasable i'd take on just about anyone else mentioned above. As for the deadline, realistically for this season, my expectations are low. The primary complaint or question at the beginning of the season was whether or not Flip and Huds were gonna be productive enough to play consistently in our top 6 and well, they have been. There's always room for improvement, but if these two were sitting on 10-15 points on the season at this point I would say the chances of us adding another player at the deadline would be much more likely.

Well you still have the Civil War quests, which is either the Stormcloaks or the Imperials which is a lengthy campaign. You also have the Mage's College, even if you have no interest in magic or becoming a mage it still shouldn't be overlooked. There's a lot of fun moments with good equipment during both, and opens up a lot more to do upon completion. There's also the Bard's college, the Daedra quests, The Blades quests, which all consist of about 5 to 6 quests each. If you finish all of these and still feel like you want to do more before the expansions come out, shoot for achievements. Finding all 20 shouts and 15 daedric artifacts will easily take up another week of your time, and they are worth seeking out. Earlier in this thread I posted up tips for improving your smithing, which is going to give you better equipment and armor both when you forge it and upgrade it. You are gonna find that when you start to tie up your side quests that a lot of them are just as fun as the main quests, there's a lot of unique ones that offer up rare equipment and experiences. Sometimes I just explore when i'm bored, look for those black icons when i'm walking around and see what they have to offer. Doing everything I stated above, i'm a level 58 and still haven't finished the thieves guild or the blades quests. It's all about how you want to play and how much you want to put into it. Upcoming downloadable content has hinted at revisiting Morrowind, which is mentioned a lot during gameplay but not a lot of people played Morrowind on the first xbox or PC. If you want more beyond that, and you haven't played Oblivion, it's a no brainer for the price these days and is still a fun and lengthy experience.

For anyone still interested in this, ecseller.com seems to be a reasonably reliable source for jerseys. Myself and a number of friends have ordered and been satisfied with the final product. As mentioned hundreds of times in this thread, these are fake jerseys, purchase at your own risk.

Cammalleri was obviously unhappy in Montreal, and he had the best season of his career during the one season he played in Calgary previously. He's a good player and I think he's going to be more productive outside of Montreal's obscure system, where Bourque is probably more like a short term 3rd liner that plays for 9 teams during his career. I say big win for Calgary and Cammalleri here.

I've watched the Sens play a handful of times this year, I think the unexpected play and production out of Greening and Foligno is the kind of boost that team needed. The pair have combined for 51 points and 206 hits, and are still very young players. As long as they don't make any stupid deals they are looking promising and I do think Ottawa will continue to sustain for the rest of the season.

Radek Faksa is fun to say so I pick him. It would be better if his last name was Bonk.

I'd be in support of Nabokov over Conklin, and the Wings upper management making a push for him last year tells me it's a strong possibility. When it comes to backups you always need to consider if your number 1 guy gets injured if your backup can carry the weight for as long as necessary. I would personally have more confidence in Nabokov over Conklin in that type if situation.
