I'd take Nash in a second, but i'm not sure about giving up 3 players and 3 picks for him that's a bit excessive. Hes got great skill and would definitely be that top 6 forward this team needs.

I went to high school with Mike Piazza's brother (Former MLB Catcher) and spoke with Mike a few times if that counts for anything. Mike graduated before I was in high school so I never actually attended with him.

I'm involved with a few hockey leagues this year, and we are finding that agreeing on a goalie setup is becoming a problem. It's a 2nd year keeper league head to head, 16 teams. How the layout is now is two goalies total per team, so everyone has a fair opportunity to own a starter. Last season there were no goalie restrictions and a few teams had 3 starters and two teams had nothing but backups. This wasn't due to drafting stupidity, its what those few owners got stuck with that had to autodraft. I'm curious to see how other leagues approach issues like this with goaltending. We are tossing around a ton of ideas, including if you own the starting goalie of one team then you will own the backup as well and roll the tandem all season. Downside to this is the constant changing of starting goalies, trades, injuries among other factors that would cause problems. In this format the guy that spent a good pick on Rask would have to give him up to the owner of Thomas which would cause problems so we scrapped that idea. We would like to find a more long term solution that we can stick with so that its fair to everyone, so any ideas anyone could provide would be great, if you are in a similar league and have found a logical and fair format please share it with me so we can get over this hump and focus on playing and winning. They just need to make it a requirement that every NHL ref and linesman are to memorize every player's name and number by their face between seasons, that way we won't have to worry about small numbers on the helmets.

Pretty sure Jeff Finger's contract is on every single "NHL signing fails" list on the internet, he must of bought Yashin's step by step book.

Its really hard for me to understand contracts like this after one successful season, especially when it's followed by an average one. He ended last season with 39 points and a plus 13, what about that performance screams to pay him 56 million? I get that you gotta lock up your future, but for his age and considering his lack in production, I think he held out and got what he wanted and didn't quite earn that hefty contract. Cheechoo had one monster season and look what happened, one of many examples of players getting overpaid after one big year. Half of me hopes that LA gets stuck with a Sheldon Souray, Wade Redden, DiPietro type of situation and regrets making such a big investment.

That would have been a much more civil response to begin with if you had said just that. I'm very unfamiliar with the writer and was unaware that he has made previous statements similar to the one here in the past, I took it as how it read. I figured it deserved some credibility considering the source was ESPN and not Eklund or someone alike.

I am capable of reading and i'm well aware that it's from the fantasy hockey section of ESPN. "It was only a matter of time. Jimmy Howard is now the Detroit Red Wings' starting netminder." It's a pretty bold statement I thought was worthy of bringing up in conversation. If it had the words "chances are" or "it's projected that" I would have passed it over and not bothered posting the link at all. Thanks for your input on the thread topic though, it apparently wasn't as much of as waste of space as my post was.

I think Phoenix has a pretty good team this year, and I'd expect them to make the playoffs, but the fans in Phoenix still won't care that they have a hockey team. Kopitar's production has dropped drastically after his brilliant start, and as previously said, he wants out of LA. I think Quick is a pretty poor goaltender, and isn't capable of carrying the Kings to a successful season. I think they have more luck than skill, and will barely make the playoffs if they do at all. I haven't watched enough Colorado games this season to form a fair opinion.

Nice to see him dish out an NHL performance finally, but i'm far from convinced.

I live in Metro Atlanta now, so I normally go to Thrashers games during the season. The Gwinnett Gladiators ECHL arena is like ten minutes away, so I go to about a dozen of those games a season, and usually make it to about 6 Thrashers games a year. I've been in a trend the last few years to fly out to Detroit overnight in early January to catch a home game, which i've done once a year for the last 4.

Hockey: Steve Yzerman, Brett Hull, Al MacInnis Football: Steve Young, Randall Cunningham Baseball: Cal Ripkin Jr, Greg Maddox I have, and always have had zero interest in Basketball, so that category doesn't apply to me.

With that said.. Kopitar is horrible defensively, and where this team stands right now, we don't need anymore defensive slackers.

Kovalchuk has probably been my best fantasy player so far this year, so it's bad news for both the Thrashers and on my squad.

I like the new look a lot, the cream on green is much better than the christmas-like green with red. I do like the logo of their previous jerseys, but wasn't too crazy about their circle logo jerseys.

Think I read somewhere that his Saw mask was part of a promotion and he was paid to wear it. I wouldn't be surprised to see more advertising in goalie masks in the future.

Obviously the third one is Vampire Gandolf, which makes perfect sense. Geez. The first one above is definitely the worst, others around the league that I just flat out don't like are Ray Emery's mask that displays a boxer, and Khabibulin's mask featuring two regurgitating pelicans and a clock tower. Giguere's Terminator Duck is just dumb also. Osgood's mask sucks too. He could at least scribble on it with whiteout or something.
