Naslund without a doubt. Like it was stated in the previous thread about the 2 million offer, he's worth 2 million, no more. Way overspent on a player that's way past his prime. 4 on Naslund is much more reasonable.
-
Shouldn't Philadelphia be on that list?!? Sorry... bad joke.
-
Fine then... offer him $2.1 million. He's one of those few NHL players that it IS all about the money. He isn't worth anything more than what the Caps offered him, and if it doesn't suit his liking, then he can retire. He's cried about contracts and money before, about the same time I lost respect for the guy when he was on Detroit. I agree with the poster that said he didn't play like he was worth 6 million when he did get his money. You are way past your prime Mr. Fedorov, stop embarassing yourself, anyone can put up more points on a line with Ovechkin.

MikeG2008 Is the brilliant young man offering enlighting input with such memorable posts as "Shut the F**K up" and "You are a f***ing idiot" earlier in this thread.

Alright, a few good points. But check it out, regardless if the fight is one in regards to momentum, any fight, even if your guy gets beat is going to rile up the home crowd. Everyone loves a fight. Bootland NEVER won a fight, but does that mean we still didn't enjoy watching him try? It still gave a boost to the crowd when he did, and he was spoken about very frequently on the boards here just because of how often he dropped the gloves. People wanted him to have a slot on the team as much as they do Downey right now. I understand fully the aspect about protecting one of your star players, but dropping the gloves to begin with already sends a message. I'm a little biased towards seeing more of Darren as i've watched him play hockey since his rookie season, and i'd love to see him net 10-15 goals for us this season. Will it happen? Probably not, but as much as i've seen Darren play compared to Downey, It's hard to not call DMac the better player. Maybe if Downey played in the playoffs i'd be singing a different tune, but that isn't the case. Not saying he didn't earn his spot, but how you play in the playoffs is more important than how you play in the regular season, and Darren has proven to me to be a solid contender. I think MikeG2008's wannabe thug butthole is sore and he's really a disgruntled Penguins fan who's still crying in a corner about Hossa coming to the better team. Seems like he became a member right about the time of the finals... coincidence? I think not... If not a pens fan, then he's been a loyal wings fan for about three weeks now. Way to go buddy!

Fighting ability = zero contribution to the team. This isn't mutant league hockey (sega genesis reference) where the loser of the fight gets an extra penalty. It's irrelevant besides the sake of entertainment purposes. I'll take the better hockey player over the better fighter, regardless if they are both trying to fill the enforcer position.
-
Not gonna lie that it already hasn't crossed my mind about wanting to keep Hossa long term and who we'd have to sacrifice, but I agree that this can be held off until the end of next season and see who does what this year. That's going to determine who stays, who goes, and who can be traded.

Obligatory forward lines thread for next season

I don't think Kopecky is going to make the lineup over Hudler. Where does Huds tie into this? I agree with the guy who called out Kopecky... Why is he on most of the lists over Helm? I'd just as soon say trade Kopecky away for a draft pick, wouldn't break my heart. As for Leino making the squad over everyone else that's going to be fighting for the spot, i'll take the bet against that. Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Holmstrom Hossa - Flippula - Franzen Cleary - Draper - Sammy Hudler - Helm - Maltby/McCarty I see Hudler being shuffled around, but I don't see him out of the lineup at all. Above is what makes sense to me. -
I'm with the guy who stated the top quote when I first read about this deal. "Who the f*** is Jeff Finger?!?!" I'd like to consider myself well versed in the world of hockey, been a fan for over 20 years, and was wondering if I wasn't following the sport like I used to not knowing who this guy was. After reading more into it, I don't feel as bad. Worst deal I have ever seen in hockey. Ever.

Should be a breeze for any hockey fan that's been around for a while, but it's what I can pull off of the top of my drunken head. Who was the last NHL player (skater) to NOT wear a helmet?
-
Wow... and people wonder why the Isles are consistantly terrible.
-
Shanahan and Shanahan alone i'd take back. It's preached and preached "bring back feds! oh yay, he's almost 40 and can get us 10 goals! SIGN HIM SIGN HIM!". Fedorov is WAY past his prime, and I have zero interest in him ever being a Wing again. Avery is a complete c*** and has no place in a organization with class. Period. I hope him and his tortoise shell poet glasses wind up on Florida or the Isles. I have NO respect for a player like that and will not support him being a part of or representing our team. Bertuzzi just didn't fit with us, always kind of liked him as a player, but he seemed to be a non-factor with the Wings. Lapointe well, liked the guy when he was here, was way overpaid to go to Boston, and really doesn't have much to offer us anymore. It's like a less skilled Lang who simply can't skate and isn't just lazy. Shanahan i'll welcome back, i'd scratch the rest off the list if it were in my hands.
-
It sounded like the announcers were heartbroken when the wings won, seriously. No excitement, just a low monotone voice explaining what was going on.
-
For Osgood who came in and lit a spark under the ass of this team. Never saw the guy play so solid, he deserved the Conn Smythe IMO, but regardless, congrats Ozzie.
-
Fine by me, i'll take Chelios for another season.

Oh... ha ha... so funny... geez we are all cracking up at our computers... quote the other 10+ posters that took your "sarcasm" seriously too because it was just so humorously well done.

Getting a little nervous, Detroit fans?
MabusIncarnate replied to BewareThePenguin's topic in General
I was about to say... not like any Pens fans are coming back to this page again, especially the OP to check up on his thread. GO WINGS!!! I hope Stuart smashed the baby girl out of Crosby and he grows up for next season. -
What a stupid assed thread, the night we won the cup, yeah, BIG changes need to be made... okay, makes sense. Let's improve so we sweep every playoff series next year. Our team is obviously fine, i'd reread your thread in the morning when you aren't drunk.

The best team won. Congrats to the young penguins team, but it wasn't your year. Here's to a 2008 Wings cup victory, and many to come in the future!

Congrats Wings for a great season and a cup in 2008. The best team one, how great it is. -
I think one of the biggest discouragements people had about Hasek coming back to Detroit for a 2nd time was the Hasek/Cujo situation that wasn't very pretty. Hasek then compared to his actions now is excellent, and he deserves applause for his sportsmanship in this situation. Good topic Shoe.

Funny how everyone poked and laughed about the penguins crying about penalties when they lose, and now suddenly we lose and people are crying about penalties.

Better off with the NBA's 2-3-2 finals format?
MabusIncarnate replied to SFwingsfan's topic in General
Nah, kind of eliminates home ice advantage IMO. Sure you get the first two games, then the next three go to the other team's ice. It's really only relevant if it goes to a game 7 to technically get home ice advantage. I like it how it is, 2-2-1-1-1. -
Thank you all for a wonderful time!

Best wishes, i've been there. Nothing quite as severe, but i'll man up and put this out there, I lost a ******** to cancer and went through Kemo. People make cancer seem like an inevitable end, but that's simply not the truth. I have a close friend and two family members that survived Skin and Throat cancer, didn't lose any of the three. I'm confident in the abilities of treatment centers these days, and we'll be seeing you back here soon enough. My thoughts and prayers are with you. -
