The loss was a team effort, could have easily taken it in the 3rd, and again in OT1, and again in OT2. My stomach is always in my throat with Osgood in net when we have a 1 goal lead in the 3rd, and I can count on my hands and toes how many big one goal leads he has blown and we went on to lose the game. I'm an Osgood fan, but all he is and all he will ever be is a solid goaltender with the ability to play the position, never to steal a game, and never be considered stellar. I still pick him over Hasek, but people put too much stock into him and his abilities. Look at his year with the Islanders to see what kind of goalie he is without a phenomonal team in front of him. If you want to point fingers, point them at our "two greatest forwards in hockey".

I busted out my Wings dvd box set last night and watched the cup championship game against the Flyers in 97. It got me so stoked, i'm beyond ready for another cup. Let's go boys, get it done at home tonight. "Mccarty draws, McCarty in, McCarty... SCORES!!! A MAGNIFICANT GOAL!! DARREN MCCARTY!" Still give me tingles.

Good revisit to an old post, kind of neat to see the results. My answers to your questions are as follows... 1) Yes, norris candidate for at least the next two seasons. 2) 40? No.. may get in the high 20's/low 30's 3) I think Zetterberg will break the 100 point mark, as balanced as scoring is, I don't see a 50+ goal scorer next season. 4) Nope. 5) I think Ozzie will be #1, and I think Howard will be a sound back-up, maybe pitch out two shutouts during the season. 6) I predict Hudler with the most points and goals of the three. 7) Helm makes the lineup, I think Darren McCarty will be the 13th man. 8) I see Kopecky as a non-factor, won't play many games and won't break 20 points. 9) I see 40 points, 50 is a stretch for next season. Give him one more season before he puts up those kinds of numbers. 10) 54 Wins, 4-1-1 against Chicago (if they play 6 games against them)

I'm in agreement of Raf being overrated, and i'll add Downey to the list. People have a hard on for downey, he can fight, great, moving on. He'll be on Bootland status soon enough, I perfer players that can score. I can insert at least 5 names of D-men that i'd rather have over Raf for what we are paying out for him and his 5 year contract. Sammy is underrated, sure he shoots a lot, and misses a lot, but it's a game of getting goals and scoring off of rebounds. He has a good shot, he puts it on net pretty often, and has shown in the finals that he is a skilled player and can make things happen. I think the quote Gretzky made once was "100% of shots not taken don't go in". Sammy can shoot all he wants as far as i'm concerned. Franzen all by himself destroyed the Avs for us, and I hold him completely responsible for our easy 2nd round victory. He's been nothing short of brilliant.

We are proud to hold so many incredible and talented swedish players on our roster. It's an honor to have the likes of Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Holmstrom, and others on our side. Here's to a 2008 Wings cup for Detroit and the fans in Sweden supporting their hometown heroes.

Crosby doesn't deserve the C on his chest, he needs to grow up, actually learn what composure is, and stop acting like a damned child. I'd be embarrassed after his little confrontation with hank after game 4 and all the whining he's done. They got their precious calls in game 4, we were obstructed against easily on three occasions that weren't called. They were handed a 5 on 3 (not to say Lilja's dumb ass didn't cause it) and couldn't capitalize. You reach a point when you need to stop crying and step up as the team leader, and Crosby simply isn't that. They are being outplayed, it isn't because of non-calls or because our players are "average". I'd like to see another captain in Pittsburgh next season. Bitching to the press and not giving credit to the other team isn't going to win them anything.

Sorry, but that's a pretty mindless statement, what would factor him not being the favorite? 3 shut outs, two in the finals, and an absolutely stellar GAA and SV%. I'd love to hear the logic behind Ozzie having no chance of getting it.

Fact is it's Detroit's cup in 2008. The Pens couldn't even score a goal until the 3rd game, their coach is dragging down what respect the Penguins had by crying and bitching and being a completely piss poor example of a head coach. The wings played very off in game 3, probably their most off game in the entire playoffs, and lost by one goal. The Penguins can't keep up, their defense is about two leagues below the Wings, and they don't have the makings of a championship team, not for at least a few more seasons. So spew your obstruction woes all you want, let your piss ant coach cry his way to a few calls and still go out a loser, even better, a sore loser. Unless Zetterberg, Lidstrom, and Osgood all collide with eachother and crack their heads open unable to finish the series, it's a cup for the Wings. Not to mention we just got our #1 playoff goal scorer back, as long as no one punches him in the side of the head attempting a reoccurance of his concussion. He had his warm up game, then scored in the next, so watch out for the Mule in game 4, he'll be picking Penguin s*** out of his hoofs until game 5.

I lived in Philadelphia during the Domi pounding the fan in the penalty box incident. Shortly after that happened, the fan who attacked him was on a radio station and asked Domi to participate in a charity boxing match between himself and Tie. Domi replied with something along the lines of "i'm not going to push the fame of a drunken fan who violently attacked an athlete during a hockey game. You can get in the ring and play with yourself for charity." The "charity box" obviously didn't happen, but I gave props to Domi for calling him out for being a drunken idiot.

Thought his cousin was Wendell Clark? Maybe that was just a joke because of the haircuts but I thought I remember hearing that Barry and Wendell were related when the wings picked up Clark.

No concern and no worries on my end. They caught us on a bad night and we still barely lost. The Penguins won't have that type of game again, which is what they need to play for the next 5 games to have a prayer of winning the cup. It's just not going to happen. Fact is, it took the wings having an off-night for the penguins to be able to keep up with us, and that's not saying a lot about the pens, and we STILL outshot them. I'm sticking with Wings in 5, we take the next game in Pittsburgh and take it home in Detroit.

The Penguins were on top of their game and BARELY won it tonight, i'm not concerned. The wings almost won tonight and didn't play well. Expect the normal dominating wings for game 4.

With big bad Sidney and Malkin getting all of those points this series, I don't know... We have such an even team defense that scoring against the Pens has been such a struggle so far. We all know that Osgood has played like garbage too, so we may as well just assume that the Pens are gonna blow us out tonight... I have zero concern and can about guarantee a maximum of a 5 game series, just because I want to see the cup hoisted on home ice, i'm more confident in this series than any series so far this playoff year. There's no stopping us, even if they do happen to take one game.

I've always wondered if his last name is really "Cherry" or if it's his television name, or he changed it to sound like a bigger ass. I'd imagine you'd get whaled on a lot in school with a name like Don Cherry.

Sorry, but I found this amusing. I was cruising through the "lets go pens" forums just to see how much they were complaining, and came across a topic about the Roberts cheapshot on Franzen. "An I would say it's thuggery and something that is beneath GR, or at least I thought it was. If Gary hit him with a bone crushing check and Franzen got knocked down, that is one thing and perfectly acceptable in the game. Cleary that wasnt what occured." I thought the misspelling of "Clearly" to "Cleary" was priceless. The wings are rolling around in their minds and they don't even realize it. They do for the most part agree that it was uncalled for though and realized that Franzen has just returned from concussion symptoms, although some fools reccomended that he stopped playing hockey if he has concussion problems. First game back from concussion symptoms... it isn't Johan Lindros, get it together Pens fans.

You lost me at the "white dog says" paragraph and beyond. Crosby hasn't earned himself to be "the face of the NHL" yet IMO, give him a few years of experience and growing up, live up to the hype, then maybe. He's good, but he isn't a leap above all of the players in hockey, he wouldn't make my top 5 list of best players in hockey right now.
