<---- Not a dog or a cat, but my pet Chameleon "Captain Steve" is always in red and white. He's within view of all televised wings games in my household. See my signature for a brief history of my little cold blooded wings supporter.

42" Samsung, I bought it for hockey and xbox gaming alone, not much of a TV or Movie watcher. Makes a world of difference for hockey, screw the glow puck, just go to high def.

You mean you all aren't gonna watch the world series of poker for the 240th time on ESPN Saturday night? ESPN is a complete joke, i'm glad VS picked up the NHL so I don't have to give that network ratings. The world wide leader in sports that shows fat men playing with cards 12 hours a day on ESPN classic. How about some classic cup playoff games? Blows my mind how the greatest sport on the planet can go so unnoticed.

Stick with Ozzie until it's all said and done. With that said, and if Turco still has his game tonight like he's had in the last two games, Osgood needs to shine. We need Osgood to be on top of his game tonight so we don't have to worry about a game 7. Should it go to 7, the game is still in our favor being at home, but we need some superb goaltending if we can't get our offense going again.

Hartigan would be my pick... suprised only one guy has mentioned this. Not interested in seeing Downey this playoff year.
-
We still gotta get past Dallas, but I agree with your logic. I'd rather the series go to 7 and the pens/flyers play in the cup tired, but if one of the two teams are going to win, i'd rather it be pittsburgh and keep any kind of prayer of a championship out of philadelphia. You know that it's been since 1980 I believe since any pro Philadelphia sports team has won a championship? The Flyers, Sixers, Phillies, and Eagles have been championship-proof for almost 30 years. If the wings make it to the cup finals, I don't care who we play in the east, we can beat either PA team hands down.
-
I hope the flyers drop out of it today, I probably dislike the flyers more than any current team in hockey. It brings me great joy when they lose and to know that their miserable excuses for fans are at home crying. Everytime the Flyers lose an angel gets it's wings.
-
Agreed, Ozzie needs to step up and steal us a game. He's been playing great, been playing solid, but if our goaltender can't step up and make some stellar saves, it's going to be hard to win the cup. No discredit to Osgood, like I said he's done his job, but a cup winning team needs those one or two games where the goalie is just unbeatable. Turco was that goalie in game 5, we need Ozzie to be that for us in game 6. Playing just solid right now isn't gonna cut it.

Yeah... call me superstitious, but each current series is 3-1. All this premature talk about the cup finals being Wings/Pens is making me nervous, don't want to jinx either team, but let's get that 4th win first, then debate who's stacking up against who else in the finals. Except for the whole Defense thing, the Wings D has been god on skates for as long as I can remember. No debate at all, the Wings are superior on defense, no doubt about it.

I'd rather see a shower of plastic rats again, or if we are talking about philly fans, they should throw rubber vomit on the ice. That's about the extent of the class of fans in Philadelphia.

An idea so this doesnt happen again

A 3-2 loss instead of a 3-1 loss is what it comes down to... it was a win for Dallas, you could sense that after the 1st period. It's one game, it wasn't a series determining game, nor was it a game changing non-goal. If it was called off in OT that would have been different, or if it was game 6 or 7. It doesn't bother me personally, we will more than likely take game 5 and this will all be an afterthought. Challenges and in-depth goal reviews will just make for more stoppages and a slower game, not necessary IMO. -

Suprised there isn't more talk about the called-off goal for the "hand pass" on Zetterberg. Would have been 3-1 instead of 2-1, a win regardless, but that's sticking out in my head more than the slash. -

It was directed to your comment, but not in argument. I think he deserves a game, and will get a game. I was more speaking toward the people saying give him 10-20 games, where that would really only be reasonable if Ozzie was injured on the play and missed a few games. -

I'll put a different view on this, imagine how much better game 3 is gonna be post Ozzie slash compared to if it never happened. I saw a thread earlier about people saying the playoffs are boring this year, there's no rivalries, no real nasty games or hard fights like we saw ten to fifteen years ago. I say this may be good to spark the rest of a hard hitting, nasty playoff series. Bring on the blood in Dallas. -

Would be much more severe if he was injured. You think Bertuzzi would have faced criminal charges and gotten that much of a suspension if Moore had just gotten back up on his feet and kept skating? -

Versus hates Detroit so much that they have carried every single Red Wings playoff game that NBC hasn't this year... Osgood sold it, you can take a 98 mph slapshot off of that shoulder pad without flinching, but a slash took him to the ice? Please... he may get a game, important fact is the 2-1 score and the 2-0 series lead. Otherwise, Ozzie walked away, no harm done. It's called hockey, not basketball. -
I'll make sure I cross my T's and dot my I's and completely research the details, dates, and years of my past to appease everyone from now on to avoid being made out to be a liar. I mixed up Larionov and Fetisov too, damn my memory from 8 years ago. Typical forum garbage, I suppose it's about as believable as dude's brother going to high school and knowing Raf and his personality enough to disprove my experience.
-
No he didn't, because it was Fetisov, not Larionov. Fetisov was on the devils coaching staff.
-
I had my years mixed up, it more than likely was 2000. I don't have proof that I met Rafalski, nor do I think I need to justify myself as not being a liar on some forums, but I do have photographs of myself with Brodeur, Vanbiesbrouck, Elias, Sykora, and Larionov from that afternoon, along with a photo with Ozzie and Datsyuk at the later date. You can tell your good buddy brian being you all are so tight and everything that I apologize for having a bad experience with him acting like a swollen headed basketball player, simply stating that most have class and my single experience with him was pretty classless. I'm not some aggressive autograph hunter or anything, I wasn't running him down to his car, like I stated, we were just standing there waiting for the rain to end, he had an issue with us being there when he stepped outside and had security remove us. Believe what you like, maybe he was having a bad day, but it's not everyday that you get to meet professional athletes so my memory of this day is pretty damn clear.
-
I met Datsyuk about two years ago when JLA gave myself, a friend of mine, and his grandmother locker room access to meet Ozzie. He was an absolute gentleman, always had a smile on his face, and was a pleasure to be around. I hold a strong respect for athletes that are good people on and off of their field of play, and Pavel is among some of the best. I've been one of the lucky ones to have been able to meet most of the team that I love, in 97 or 98 I was able to meet the entire team in New Jersey as they were all standing outside of the arena after practice, it was pouring rain and they were in front all waiting for the bus. I literally almost fainted when I got to meet Stevie Y, most of them were gentleman, signed some autographs for me while they waited. In the same day I got to meet some Devils too, Brodeur and ironically Rafalski. Raf was an absolute ****** bag, we were waiting for the rain to die down just like everyone else, and he called security over and said "get these children out of my sight, they don't stand here with us." I was 19 with a buddy of mine that was in his late 20's. Brodeur had approached us offering to sign something, we didn't say a word to Raf, he was just being a dick. Sure enough, we got drenched running back to our car when security sent us on our way.

Lidstrom, being his typical self, breaking up plays and putting up the numbers. Pavel was great too. Helm, Huds, and Filppula made themselves known on the ice on numerous occasions too, Zetterberg seem to make some uncharacteristic decisions in game 6, two come to mind, the two on one with Draper to his right, and he pushed the puck right into the d-mans skates, and the one-timer feed that he got from datsyuk that instead of shooting he took to the backhand and just pushed it into Ellis' leg pad. There were a few instances where hank should have shot and could have scored, but elected to make a strange play instead. Regardless, we won, bring on Colorado or Calgary.

My thoughts on the situation are this... Look at the price we paid for Hasek. We stack heavily and pay just as heavy into our defense, which should be the focus, not the goaltending. During the trading talks with Luongo, everyone wanted him to land here. Fact is, we pay a heavy price for a better goaltender like Luongo, Turco, or anyone of that calibur sure goaltending is a little better, but then we can kiss a new contract to Zetterberg goodbye and be two short on scoring wingers, which will be the next thing people will complain about. We aren't letting up many goals, but we aren't scoring many either. It's a vicious cycle. Point being, with the salary cap and the quality of goaltender that we got for the price, we have a good balance overall and it's the best decision for the future to ride Hasek who may not be stellar, but is by all means solid for a cheap price so we can afford to keep the players we need. Being number one and getting outplayed by number eight should be a team concern, not a goaltending concern. I'm not saying blame the defense, we've only been outshot in game three, but there's more to be looking at aside from Hasek.

I was born and raised in Philadelphia, and the fans are garbage. It's hard going to any philly sporting event without the risk of getting into a fight or getting something thrown at you. I went to a flyers game and one fan had a pocket full of batteries that he was throwing at a woman who was wearing a Devils jersey. Veterans stadium (The Eagles old stadium) was the first ever sports facility with jail cells in it. The fans cheer when an opposing player gets seriously injured, and yell profanity when he gets pulls off on a stretcher. They even booed santa clause during halftime of an eagles/cowboys game because they were losing and tossed snowballs at him. It's a garbage city to go to for sporting events, I wouldn't be caught dead wearing a wings jersey at a flyers game out of risk of some drunken fool picking a fight with me. My uncle who is a Michigan native was the one who got me into hockey about 20 years ago, hence my love for the wings and not the flyers.

Not Dom, it was a team failure. They had the game, tried to sit on the lead, drank their Lang juice, and seemed to just putt around the ice until Nashville got back into it. There's plenty of games where they have a small lead and just lose their step, and that's more fustrating than the play of Hasek. It's playoff time, Nashville played a full 60 minutes, Detroit didn't, and that's why we lost.
