10/20 GDT: Red Wings 5, Phoenix Coyotes 2

I almost choked on my beer.. there was a commercial on Phoenix radio with Shane Doan saying "Since last season we've lost 2000 fans to tobacco", I was thinking they were put out of their misery.

    The 3-2 score does.

10/20 GDT: Red Wings 5, Phoenix Coyotes 2

In the game i'm seeing.. had it not been for Detroit's late goal, penalties would be 4-3 Phoenix. Hmmm.. and in the math that I learned.. that means MORE penalties on the Coyotes.

    No Respect

This could be completely off, but something that has bothered me over the years was the lack of attention to Hockey from ESPN. I know it isn't nationally popular like the other sports out there, but when you think of the 4 main sports in the US, it's Football, Baseball, Basketball, HOCKEY. Again, I can be wrong on this, but these are some observations. Visit the ESPN homepage and click on any sport but hockey, look at the toolbar on top and highlight sports. It isn't in alphabetical order, but the top 3 right off the bat are NFL, MLB, and NBA. Top three are fitting, but it is followed by College football, Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Nascar, Autos, and THEN NHL. Why not set that at least in the 4th spot? Why does the NHL have to sit under Women's basketball and Nascar?? When watching ESPN or ESPN news, especially off-season, we get all of 30 seconds of NHL footage or news if we are lucky, and if something major does happen, it takes them hours to finally post it on the bottom line. And then they will show it every 5 cycles, but of course the off-season NFL news about an assistant trainer that didn't report to training camp in the right color shirt is shown twenty times an hour. Last year in preseason, I was checking espn.com for preseason scores when the wings were playing, and two DAYS after the game was played, the latest score on their scoreboard was the last game of the stanley cup final. It's like they just stopped bothering with posting NHL preseason scores. Places like TSN keep you up to the minute on news, scores, and anything you want to know about the NHL. Why don't we see this support from "The Worldwide Leader In Sports"? What the hell does ESPN stand for anyway? Oh, and ESPN not even covering the NHL anymore makes this all that much worse.

    Agreed, no thanks.

    Official: Hasek signs 1-year deal

Excellent news, especially for only 2 mil.

    Kozlov re-signs with Atlanta

Glad this happened.. I don't recall Kozlov being a superb player when he played for the wings the first time.

Wings sign (G) Adam Berkhoel, (D) Brad Ference

So replace Sammy with Asham, that will solve all of our problems...

My final two free agent requests

Sorry, but I hate the neglect that McCarty received in Calgary. I'd take him back in a second. Ottawa also has a player on the UFA list named Cory Pecker. I want Pecker on the back of my Wings jersey.

    Just read.....

You must have meant that new Dallas Thrashers team everyone is talking about.

Would Jeff O'Neil be a good fit?

With the remaining options, O'Neill would be one of my top picks. No more a gamble than Calder, who proved to be useless in the playoffs, for a bargain price, i'd give this guy a chance to make a name for himself again. The talent is there, he showed that in Carolina, and he isn't exactly close to retirement, unless he is in the Niedermayer family tree.

    NHL 2k7 or NHL 07

With the current time of next-gen gaming, hockey was a little different in the video game world this year. 360 owners got to experience a brand new take on hockey with NHL 07, using the left thumbstick to deke and shoot, giving you full stick control unlike any hockey game created to date. It virtually ends the era of "only score when you launch a one-timer". NHL 2k7 cracked back with the traditional style using the face buttons to pass and shoot, while introducing some amazing animations and extremely smooth gameplay. The cinematic camera is brilliant, it lets you see wherever you need to see on the ice improving offensive visualization. I've purchased both on 360 and put many hours into them.. what's your pick? My pick.. NHL 2k7. The full stick control in 07 is great, but the rest of the game seemed to drag from it. It's never felt so boring to score a goal either. 2k7 is definitely not the graphical powerhouse of the two, but it does play better.

How many wins in Hockeytown 2006-2007

45-50 is a fair bet.. with a healthy Hasek you can add at least 4 or 5 more. I don't care how old he is, the man can steal you some games.

    Wings talking to Panthers

Like it or not, I think Bertuzzi's reputation still dents his value a little bit. I could see Pavel for him straight up, but i'm not sure if i'd like it.

Who's wearing the "C" this year?

NHL2k7 has the same.. It also has Theo Fleury on the free agent list too though, so who knows.
