While I would love a player like Lucic I dont trust the guy. Ive said before I feel he will be the next NHL to come out as having a major chemical dependence problem. Dude has to be coked up to act the way he does sometimes. Dont want him getting a big money contract. I would have loved the Martin rumors had Miller not gotten the new contract. Only really makes sense if Holland is looking to offer up some of our younger bottom six guys in a move for a dman but in reality who would want any of them outside of AA. You cant trade away AA with Helm walking. Hes a direct replacement with a higher ceiling. It seems Detroit is exploring everyone on the market. Maybe thats Kenny's plan. Be in on everyone so nobody knows your true plans. So is Crosby but that wouldnt stop every team in the league from jumping at the chance to acquire him

Vegas taking him would be a blessing. Only way Detroit gets rid of him is if they take part of his contract or takes another contract back. This way hes gone clean. I doubt they take him though. Especially if he craps the bed again this year. There will be quite a few good goalies available for them to choose from.

The same argument could be applied to Detroit. Lets hope he doesn't value the city to highly as Toronto would win in a landslide compared to the other two.

Obviously the guy was just angling for the highest contract possible. Probably told KHL teams if they dont meet his demands he will go to the NHL and then told NHL teams if they dont meet his demands he would stay in the KHL. Eventually he knew someone would overpay him.

Detroit has quite a bit of space now but let's remember we still have RFA's to get done. My worry is if KH misses on Stamkos what he will do then. I would rather him overpay for one guy in Stamkos than overpaying on 2-3 other guys. We all know that with free agency nowadays getting quality means your paying players salaries over market value. I would have had preferred Fersch be gone completely as I dont see what he brought to the organization. Bedard is a bit of a shock but when you look at it it I think its a good thing. 18 years is a long time in one spot and the game changes. Theres a chance management doesn't see him keeping up with the changes. Now add into the fact that in those 18 years he really hasn't developed a young goalie to reach there top potential. McCollum, Patterson, Larsson, and Howard are examples of guys drafted in the top 3 rounds while hes here that never reached the potential they had when drafted. The team has a young stud in Mrazek. Getting a guy in with a proven record of developing goalies is a plus in my opinion.
