Tampa Bay Head Coach Jon Cooper Accuses Red Wings Of Cheating
WingsallTheway replied to WingsAlways's topic in General
Zetterberg and Nyquist are the best in the league at holding the stick then diving to get a hooking/holding penalty. fact. Multiple teams have complained about us cheating on faceoffs and we've even had players admit it. (Draper, i believe?) We interfere with players on the rush more then anyone in the league. I've noticed recently that other teams are starting to do it more and more as well. (side note, ive also noticed other teams using the same entry into the zone on the PP as us; the one where we drop it to Dats) Now I wouldn't say were flat out CHEATING, were just milking the rules to our advantage as much as possible. Its a double edged sword as we saw in the first 5 games with all the penalties. Lets not be biased here, if you don't see these things happening all game your watching with a blind eye. We have experienced vets on our team and these skills have been passed down. Any sport I've ever played, I've bent the rules as much as possible to gain an advantage. Its a skill. -
Ekblad, Gaudreau, Stone voted Calder Trophy finalists
WingsallTheway replied to PredsFanTheBayouState's topic in General
Quite possibly the best group of rookies the NHL has had in awhile. All 3 guys are deserving of winning and you could make a case for any of them. I think Gaudreau deserves it, but Ekblad will be the best player out of them in the future. Ekblad is from Windsor so can we hope he comes home when hes a UFA? -
I guarantee we ice the puck more often then any team. Quincey and Ericcsson seem to be the worst for this. Its odd, because even when we get a turnover in the neutral zone, instead of turning around and restarting a breakout, we just whip it back into theyre zone and give it back to them. This is obviously followed by a too many men penalty

Howard edit: Actually, this Lyon character is probably a better choice
-
He doesn't have attitude problems, he just has monkeys riding tricycles in circles in his head

I agree we should have put in Ouellete. If were going to play dmen that are turnover machines and defensive liabilities we might as well play D who we can count on to play actual defence. Noone we have on D can play offence (other than Kron, Zids) so we might as well just suit up 4 defensive Dmen. Although, I just tried to make lines that would make sense and there arent any so theres also that point... Kronwall - Dekeyser Ericcson - Quincey Oulette - Zidlicky I really don't know.... A legit Dman would do wonders for this team. I really wish we had a potential top 2 guy coming up. Still pains me to see Parise and Suter in MIN haha
-
I think it would be really smart for TOR to draft Strome. Hes a good player and obviously pals with McDavid... I can see in 4-5 years Connor jumping ship to go play there.
-
Have to think he would be an option if Babs leaves Yes, I'm aware of Blashill's presence. Blash seems to be a good coach for development and maybe he is best suited in the AHL. If he gets paid like an NHL coach, why wouldn't he just stay with the Griffs anyway?

slightly off topic but, this point made me want to post this I don't see how we are expected to win a series with the lines we have right now. Maybe its the roster but looking up and down the lineup you have to wonder how we even have a chance. Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Helm <---- great line and the only threat, if they dont get it done we lose. You could see that in game 1 Nyquist - Sheahan - Tatar <---- Doesn't seem to be able to get it done in the playoffs yet. Turnovers and little offence and a defensive liability Weiss - Andersson - Jurco <---- possibly the softest and worst line i could come up with on our roster. No puck possession Miller - Glendenning - Ferarro <---- I'd prefer someone else over Ferarro but this line is what it is and good at what it does Basically, if the top line doesn't get it done offensively, noone else will. All we can do is hope that we get some lucky goals and win a game by 1 goal. It sucks. Were playing defensive hockey with a joke of a defence and skeptical goaltending. We need to spread out Z and D to have 2 legitimate lines. The days of our stacked rosters are over, we can't play them together anymore. Regarding Ericcson, he NEEDS TO BE DELEGATED. He can be used on this team, but with favorable matchups, not the best players in the NHL. He slows down Kronwall as well, who is literally our only offensive threat on defence. Play Kronwall with anyone else, we don't have another top 2 dman but noone else aside from Smith/Kindl is a liability like Ericcson is.

You don't look at points to see how terrible Ericsson is. You just watch him for a game, on any given night. You can argue that he looks bad because hes on the top pairing getting exposed, but that explains that hes just a bad defenceman. "shut down" Dmen are supposed to shut down guys. He doesnt do that, or bring offence. He actually destroys all offence. Whenever we cycle in the O-zone, he just throws it on goal the second it touches his stick. Other team gets possesion, puck goes the other way.

Increased speed and less hitting but more big contact hits. I dont know if that would be good for the NHL

gdt ECQF Game 1 GDT : Red Wings at Tampa Bay Lightning, 7:30 EST
WingsallTheway replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
third line is soft as hell but good thing for us so is TB. We are gonna have to rely 100% on our top 2 lines for scoring. That might be a problem though since Z and D might be used to shut down the top lines as well. Kid line is an X -factor for sure. I fully expect Glendennings line to go up against the Stammer line. Gotta get those 20 mins -
signed up as gelinas18 since my extremely generic username on here was taken also made my picks at 6:57 so I didn't have alot of time to think .......... also looks like I missed signing up for the league looks like I made my picks just as an outsider edit: lol 55fan, your tabs: "3 ways to take a screenshot" I found that funny

Every single Bruins fan I've seen respond to this seems to be in extreme favor of the decision so it must have been warranted. BOS has been on an obvious decline though, and don't seem to have the prospects to keep pushing kind of like we've done.
-
Huge news Also confirmed from various sources on twitter. Straight out of babcock's mouth Im sure his leash will be very short though. From what I've seen from Mraz in big games, I think we'll be okay!
-
Yeah our depth prospect is great we just need to get a hold of that bonafide top 3 forward and #1dman and we have a bright future Luckily we have a few years for either one of our prospects to surprise us, or for Holland to sign somebody

Its simple, score 5 goals a game -
haha i LOLed as well
-
Good insight, actually
-
Yeah they're definitely 2 different types of players. Both goal scorers, but JVR is a quick hands around the net guy and uses his size. Tatar is probably the exact opposite lol They really are 2 guys that could be traded for eachother based on what each team wanted
-
More in a production/age comparison. JVR is better. Just kind of added it as a situation i might be okay trading Tatar in. I'd personally rather keep Tats but thats probably just because I've been following him since he got drafted JVR is way better than Sheahan, but they do play the same style.
-
Tatar should not be traded. Ever. Once he stops getting turnovers (which will happen with experience) he may wind up being our best goal scorer Hes better then nyquist. Looks like he always will be too Although, someone did mention JVR. That is someone Tatar is comparable to

I didn't expect Ferraro to score a single point, I just thought hed play hard and win some battles. I didn't see him win a single battle lastnight, and he just didnt seem like a player wanting to play in the NHL. Everytime we call a player up they run around like freight trains, he certainly didnt He was certainly our worst forward lastnight, which I guess should be expected from a call-up... but we have other players in the minors who could make an impact whether it be on the bottom or top 6
