I agree, and remember that because I had thought it was a complete waste especially for a player picked first. Not sure who makes the call on where each player plays in the skills competition, but I was surprised to see he wasnt in the shootout. Knowing pav though, he would just backhand forehand miss the next three times anyway

Id rather just Dats go, I like seeing him in all the skills competitions. Not very often you get a player with his skill set placed in an environment where he gets a chance to show off. (Even though he never does, I always hope) Everyone else I'd rather take the time off.

I agree with most posters. Although Martin isnt exactly the cleanest player in the league, I give him the benefit of the doubt here. This is an unfortunate result of avoiding a hit which Martin read he was going to do. Ballard shouldn't have dipped low like that, placing his head/neck towards the boards. We saw the same thing with Dekeyser last season when he broke his wrist, its a textbook thing avoiding hits and if you don't do it right this can happen.

Not a justified firing in the slightest. Ottawa fans also seem to be up in arms.. He'll get another gig elsewhere

Going to be at this game...my first one since going to the Joe in 09. EXTREMELY disappointed Dats won't be playing, especially since his status was up in the air. This was probably my last chance to be able to see him live Hoping for a good game though, should be entertaining with all the ruckus going on with the Toronto media right now. Going to be wearing my Zetterberg jersey. (with the A) Hoping for a good game! Anything but a blowout loss for the boys and i'll be happy

Who cares about Nestrasil, like really. We have 8 "hard working grinders" on our team as is, and a hundred more in the minors. I've watched every game he played in this year, and all he has going for him is that hes really good along the boards.

Nobody wanted Quincey in free agency...why would they want him now via trade? Plus hes 2M overpaid.. Franzens return value is also very low. He's what, 34 now? Hes signed til hes 42...we don't want the contract why would someone trade assets to take it on. The only way Franzen would have gone was with the buyout

Pronger was one of the biggest game changers of his generation.Every team he played for excelled and then flustered when he left. Sure, he was a dirtbag, but his impact on a team cant be denied. Also, pronger only missed the playoffs in his first 2 seasons. Kariya missed 9/15

Datsyuk is my favorite player of all time, and I mirror his playing style myself, but I'm really getting tired of these injuries. Ive seen him take one hit in the past 2 games and hes hurt again. Worried that the end is closer than 3 years for him..

We could, but tatar is our only player who doesn't have the personality of a robot....I want to see him stick around his whole career. Hes our only player with sass and swagger

Nyquist is nowhere near hudler....like at all..... Nyquist is our fastest skater (next to helm....gus is more explosive). Nyquist has the second best hands on our team. Nyquist is our most likely player to score a goal on a given night. Hudler was small and he showed it every night...gus doesnt. This is an awful comparison Nyquist is is more comparable to a young zetterberg...

Our offense is fine. They just arent scoring as much because they need to consistently back up our defence. Literally every pairing we can throw out has a dummy on it. Having said that, its crucial we have dats and Z in the lineup, or we just can't roll 2 lines because our players are just too easy to shut down without support. Kronwall Ericsson Dekeyser Quincey Smith Kindl Lashoff Quincey has been better, but hes inept when it comes to offense. Ericsson has been getting turnovers like he did in his rookie season. Smith is great but he still makes at least 2 plays a game that are just terrible. Kindl is Kindl. Lashoff is okay defensively but brings nothing on offense. We have a glut of "defensive defenceman" who arent good at playing defense. Replacing Kindl or Quincey with a serviceable defenceman makes our D look sooooo much better. We are really lacking a legit #2 defenceman who can play both sides of the puck. Everyone aside from Kronwall and dekeyser are playing on one pairing higher then they should be. Ericcson is a 4th/5th defenceman plays on the top line.. Smith right now is also a 4th/5th Kindl should be in the ECHL Quincey IMO is a 4th defenceman Lashoff is good for what he is i guess Of course, we could use a trade on the wing for a goal scorer. But who's team couldnt?

I'd be more willing to trade a player with one year left on their contract to the islanders as opposed to a pittsburgh or detroit as theres more a chance that they would be willing to come back as a free agent.
