edit: misinterpretation

ugh mike green SUCKS Hes injury prone and can't play a lick of defence for his life. Hes better than Kindl but for the cost of 6M and a Holland style trade it is just not worth it in the least. WAS has too many defenceman thats why green is on the market. They won't want Kindl or any of our other 5 fringe-NHL defenceman in return, they are going to go after our forward prospects. Already frustrated at the fact that this will probably happen: Tatar + 1st + Pulkinnen But knowing Holland I'm sure he could pull off something worse Regarding his offence: Whens the last time a player came to Detroit having previously put up solid offensive numbers and then continued that production? Hossa comes to mind, but before that? nobody.

2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades
WingsallTheway replied to Datsyukian-Deke's topic in General
I really hope Quincey doesn't lurk the internet. Guy would probably enter Legace territory -
I just don't see the point in signing a rental veteran Dman at this point, especially since we signed quincey again. The only thing that would have been a good signing is a Dman such as Erhoff or Niskanen that can improve the team now and in the future. Because that wasn't possible, we should have just stayed put and went with what we have. Signing Salo might help us make the 8th seed again, but it doesnt allow any of the rookies to get any playing time. IF we were to be fortunate enough to rid of Kindl/Lash then a vet such as Salo would be great. But who is Holland to cut dead weight?

I wonder if Holland will pull some strings to get Cleary in on the tourney

a hockey player whos favorite season is summer? No wonder he was so willing to return! The latest our season will go is 1 week after the regular season -

This is good in the long run. Quincey will shatter the shin pads of the opposing teams forwards causing lower market teams to go bankrupt We will be the premier target for free agents at this point. Holland = GENIUS -

2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades

Probably not, but that gets rid of whatever little grit or speed we have left. Holland needs to give his head a shake about Quincey. Instead of reiterating what I said in the Rumors thread, ill just copy it here: I think the best bet is to just go forward with what we have next season, allowing younger players to get used to the NHL. Worst case Ontario, we get a high pick in a stacked draft. Even if we were to trade for Myers right now, its not like were winning the cup with this roster. The worst thing we could possibly do is sign Quincey again. He hinders the production of younger players without actually making our team better. Stay far far away kyle, please. -
As much as we do need a defenceman, I think next season is the one where we may have to bite the bullet and end the glorified "streak" To me, the risk of Myers' possible potential isnt worth losing mantha jurco tatar or nyquist. These guys are the backbone to our future and I would hate to lose any of them as they all bring something different to the table. excited for : Kronwall - Smith Quincey - Dekeyser Kindl - Lash For another season Although im sure one of the coveted AHL signings Holland was sure to make could pencil in nicely when 3 of our "top 4" D get injured Seriously, Holland has ALL summer to sign these minor league players and one day to sign NHL players. What does he focus on? Getting Sheahan and Mrazek re signed ( which was inevitable ) And signing 2 AHL players. Great. -

If Holland panics and signs Quincey again.... I think i may be done We all know this would follow with offering Cleary a contract. We have to spend our cap somewhere -

Lilja will be the addition

Dylan Larkin - Highest draft pick since 1991
WingsallTheway replied to RedWingsPlug's topic in General
For those who arent excited about this pick don't know what he brings to the table. He's exactly the kind of hard working/ 50 pt player everyone is hoping Holland will bring in. Obviously that wont be for another 5 years but thats how it works -
Teams to be compensated for losing personnel to other teams
WingsallTheway replied to Son of a Wing's topic in General
Yeah if this was implemented what , 4 years ago? We would have about 17 3rd round draft picks and 2 Zetterbergs -
Kane and Toews both asking for $12M per year
WingsallTheway replied to turbowhistle86's topic in General
They are good but I don't put them in the top 5 of the league so they don't deserve that much money. On a side note, I'd still take toews for 10M and kane for 9M. -
Alfie informs Wings he wants to return
WingsallTheway replied to TheDetroitRedWings's topic in General
I agree with this , and somehow both those picks will turn out to be future NHLers. However Boyle signs July 15th as he initially plans on going to a contender, but 29 other GM's realize that he isn't a capable top 4 defender anymore.Takes best offer available. ( But who would turn down a 4 year contract with a NTC at his age!? ) I do believe that the wings will sign a fringe NHL defenceman to the bottom 6 such as Sarich, Grebeshkov, or Corvo. I know you arent saying Holland will put Mantha into the lineup, but i feel like he has virtually no chance of making the team this season. Not only is he not ready according to the select games Ive watched him play (about 10; and just my opinion of course) there is just no room in the top 9 for him especially with the "addition" of Alfie. Its going to be too convinient for Holland to send him to GR, although thats probably where he should be starting his career anyway. Lineups without alfie: franzen - dats - abby z - d - abby nyquist - z - weiss Franzen -weiss - nyquist tatar - sheahan - jurco/mantha tatar - sheahan - jurco/mantha So the only chance mantha really has of making the team is with the presence of significant injuries (likely, i suppose) where he will also need to beat jurco out of a spot, who also has a season under his belt and shows good chemistry with his line. Sorry to slightly derail the thread, but it does have some to do with alfredsson -
Can still contribute and would probably fit well. Extremely possible considering hes over 35, which has Holland's attention. I'm Just not overly optimistic about the inevitable 5 year contract paired with a NMC.

Alfie informs Wings he wants to return
WingsallTheway replied to TheDetroitRedWings's topic in General
Not pumped about this at all. He was extremely ineffective for long stretches of the season and now hes just a year older, with a bad back. This off -season is looking more and more like its going to be the same old stuff. Excited to see which fringe NHLer 6th pairing defenceman we will be signing next -
Nobody wants Kindl OR Weiss. There are about 11 wings fans who even like either one of these players, what makes one think another GM would rightfully trade one of their best assets for them both. To get Edler, we would have to give up an actual defenceman such as Ericsson or dekeyser, along with a high end prospect and maybe even a pick
-
An underachieving line including Weiss + Booth would make LGW explode. Also seems like Cleary could potentially play on this line in our top 6. So, yes.
-
As bad as hes become, I'd still take him over cleary. But what do I know, im not Ken Holland
