Caps are at the cap ceiling, have too many d men (Green being the odd man out), and he's on an expiring contract. He is a good player and a great fit, but the Wings should be the ones dictating the cost to get him here. A young, top six forward like Tats, Goose, or Jurco is absolute lunacy. Those names should not even be mentioned in negations. Our biggest problem is that it is common knowledge that we are in desperate need of a puck moving RH d man, and I think this is why we keep hearing that the Caps would want those players coming back. I think that Andersson, Frk, and a 3rd that turns into a 2nd if he re-signs should suffice for a player that: 1 Isn't likely to re-sign with the Caps if he was to stay the whole season, and 2 Could potentially just be a rental for the Wings.

Is it bad that I assume that, if the player in question is Swedish, the Wings automatically have a chance to land him? I can't imagine Edmonton is a desirable place for young players anymore. I mean they were going with that whole "you can be part of our young core" angle for a couple years now, it seems, and it doesn't look like that train wreck of an organization is getting any better. (Although I do believe someday they'll get it together) Vancouver I could see though...

True. But if he does stay and he does become the player he was projected to be, then I'd still say this will be a trade we look back on and wonder wtf Holland was thinking. When I write it out like that, I guess those are some big "if"s, so I suppose you're right. Hey, quit bullying me already, I'm overreacting to a trade I don't like over here!

Even if Jarnkrok IS leaving for Sweden next year this is still a HUGE overpayment. Way too much of a risk. Eaves a third and Ferraro would have been more than fair. If he decides he likes it in Nashville this trade is very likely going to haunt us for years.

And now the phase begins where Wings fans lie to themselves and play down Jarnkroks skill and potential to disguise this horrible trade as "bearable". I am still in shock.
