I read a really good article on performance enhancing drugs, and approached it from a standpoint I've never thought of. They talked about how in Juniors you have all these young adults who have put their whole lives into going pro, and they're right on the verge but everyone around them is bigger and stronger, and they know of at least a few folks who are on PED's, so they either join the club, get bigger and stronger to keep up with everyone else and perhaps keep a job, or take the honest route and have your whole life's ambitions die as someone else takes your place. There's no doubt in my mind there are guys on roids in the NHL right now, and I imagine the largest demographic of those who are under the influence are those who wouldn't be employed without their assistance.

The last time the Wings lost six games in a row was the year they won the Stanley Cup. 82 games equals a long season, which is exactly what teams need to work through funks that inevitably happen to everyone.

You'd think that when your number 1 goalie is unbeaten in the season it would imply that there shouldn't be goalie issues on the forums. You'd think.

I just took a look at your bio on the site. I didn't realize how much experience you have with this matter, and now I'm really looking forward to what the podcast has to offer. Initially I was under the impression this was going to be a college student doing it out of his dorm or something.

Actually I've been pretty impressed with Eriksson so far. He really looks like he's trying to play more punishing in our zone and be a more substantial player, and while I still think he has some stuff he needs to continue to work on, it looks like he's on the right path towards making our investment in him worth it.

I'm so pumped about this happening. Brunnstrom's biggest flaws throughout his career happen to be the Wings' biggest strengths: relentless hard work on and off the ice, professionalism, etc. I think a season in the lockerroom with the leadership the Wings have will work wonders for Brunnstrom. He's already proven he's dedicated to changing his demeanor by earning a spot with the team. I have high hopes for him as a player both in the short term and long term.

I had a similar wrist break (or so I suspect based on what is made available to the public) and it was about six months before the scar tissue was worn away enough to where I had full flexibility again. Even now (a year past the break) I can still feel stiffness when I fully extend the wrist, but it isn't enough to limit my use of it. I imagine with the best medical resources at his disposal, his wrist should be at or near 100% by now.

That sounds like a blast. I hope others come forward with their experiences and opinions of the prospects, etc

Put him in Grand Rapids for this year where he can get top-6 minutes and continue to work on his consistency and work ethic. If he continues on the pace he's at, there will certainly be room for him on the Red Wing roster next year, and not as a grinder.

Fantasy fridays! I, too, would like to hear more about prospects in Grand Rapids and elsewhere. Learning about forum goers sounds like it would be entertaining. I think an intelligent break down of games would be good, too. Not just "this guy scored, this guy passed, etc", but really get into the X's and O's, different opinions, and discuss different plays and trends that have been occurring. We're all hockey fanatics here, so we don't need to be talked down to like most of national media tends to do. This can be legit hockey talk.

The way he played last postseason I would agree with you. I think he's the most influential player on the Wings' roster.

The Blackhawk Indian has balls drooping down the side of his hair. That alone should put the Winged Wheel ahead. Also, now you'll never not see them.

I see them winning the Cup this year, although I've seen them winning the Cup the past two years also. They're starting to break away from this playoff choker mentality, all the while steadily reinforcing their nucleus. Its only a matter of time before they hit the target.

This guy was close to my coach back in high school. He showed up to our practice a couple times and I was fortunate that the winger on my line never showed up, so coach would put Shawn Burr on my line to practice 3-on-2's, dump and chase, etc. He is such a cool, genuine, down to earth dude.

This appears to be the same injury I had about a year ago. Scaphoid fractures are commonly misdiagnosed as sprains (as mine was), and surgery is common because there is limited blood flow through this bone (thus difficult to heal on its own). I assume the surgery he's getting is to drill a screw in there. It actually is plausible that this injury occurred during the late season/playoffs.

I've said this before on these forums, but Abel to Yzerman is the reason why the rest of the hockey world thinks Wings' fans are a bunch of conspiracy theory loving band-wagoners with entitlement issues.
