I love the clenched fist + octopus design. It gives off a kind of blue-collar toolman's hands vibe, which I think is appropriate for Detroit.

Apparently this is how it went down: http://deadspin.com/#!5791907/if-you-throw-an-octopus-on-the-ice-in-detroit-you-could-be-fined-500-and-ejected

I think I'm most excited about Bertuzzi, actually. The past two weeks or so, he seems to have really started warming up for the playoffs by playing hard, physical hockey. The guy got in two fights, has been laying guys out with highlight reel hits, and has been driving to the net hard. I expect him to be a difference maker this year, and judging from his game the past two weeks, it seems he expects that of himself.

Honestly, if I was in the lockerroom after that debacle against the Blues and Nick started letting F bombs drop, I think I'd laugh. I can't imagine it sounding natural at all coming out of St. Nick's mouth.
-
Yeah I don't expect him back until the conference finals, if that.

I think we need to petition to get 55fan to change her avatar to this for the 1st round of the playoffs.

With the way this season opened, I'm truly surprised at this outcome. Crosby was absolutely on a tear, and Stamkos was putting in pucks almost every game. Perry, however, was quiet. I guess that's why they play 82 times.

Good year, gang. Congrats to the champ and thanks again to Kook, Dan Byalsma and Motown. Personally, I'm proud of my 25th place. I ended the season on a pretty high note with three weeks of good picking.

Ahh playoff start just in time for me to start working my evenings and weekends job.

At least Vancouver doesn't have a guaranteed sweep now

Thanks a bunch, Kook, for setting this all up and thanks to Dan Byalsma (I believe) who took over for the couple weeks Kook was busy. Also thanks to Motown for providing the gift which I will not receive. Without further ado, I present the flawless week: Friday, April 8 Pittsburgh at NY Islanders Philadelphia at Buffalo Chicago at Detroit Florida at Tampa Bay X2 Carolina at Atlanta Columbus at Nashville Minnesota at Edmonton Dallas at Colorado San Jose at Phoenix Los Angeles at Anaheim Saturday, April 9 New Jersey at NY Rangers Ottawa at Boston Tampa Bay at Carolina NY Islanders at Philadelphia Montreal at Toronto Washington at Florida Buffalo at Columbus Nashville at St. Louis Vancouver at Calgary Anaheim at Los Angeles Phoenix at San Jose Sunday, April 10 Detroit at Chicago Boston at New Jersey Edmonton at Colorado Pittsburgh at Atlanta Dallas at Minnesota

I think this is technically illegal. Nabby is Islanders property and consequently can't be talked to about joining other teams. Although I may be incorrect.

Mursak is the only one that I can see making any real difference in the postseason, at least right now. Maybe I'll eat crow, but hopefully we don't get to the point where we could find out.

My boy Bob Rouse is totally 51

Babs never cared much for personal benefit or individual milestones. I remember reading that the team had to really coax him into letting Ozzie play at home so he could possibly reach whatever milestone he hit recently in front of a home crowd. He's 100% about what's best for the team and I don't think personal stories factor even the slightest into who's dressed or not.

Arite! Making a late comeback into a more respectable position. A couple weeks of excellent picking combined with everyone dropping out has seen me jump like 20 spots in less than a month.

I think Datsyuk and Helm have been the two biggest difference makers.

I'm busy wooing her.

My mistake. All three of Nashville's goals came after the first fight. The Wings' goals came after the second one. I'm still standing by my observation that the on ice product throughout the entire game was consistent, and there wasn't any real hop in their step after either fight that was lacking before.
-
I was looking at the scoreboard for my proof. Look, I enjoyed watching both fights, but the Wings' team that was playing after each fight was the exact same gritty team that was playing beforehand in the first. Its not like we were flat-footed, Bert gets in a scuffle, then suddenly we're gritty and motivated. As I previously stated, it was Nashville that scored following both fights, not the Wings. The boys came out hard today to make a statement after an abysmal and embarrassing week. THAT is what inspired the actions today (including both fights), not the fights themselves. And I'm sure Babs and Clears said as much in a post-game interview. Its practically taboo to say otherwise of a fight, especially after such an uninspiring week. They knew what Bert was trying to do and why, but the team was already plenty motivated. The fights were the result of that, not the cause.
-
Correlation doesn't equal causation. Also using Bert's scuffles as an argument that fighting helped win the game for the Wings probably isn't a good way to go considering it was Nashville who scored consecutive times after the two fights to eventually take a 3-0 lead.

Radiohead is pretty hit or miss with me, but I absolutely love this song that I'm surprised doesn't get more love:
