What happened to our PK? We used to be good at that.

Holmstrom to return on Wednesday & Flip to get MRI on knee
Echolalia replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
The team is surprisingly lacking in front of the net without Holmstrom. Maybe it was just noticeable because Cleary was also out and is still getting back into form, but I expect a more consistent offense once Homer is back in the line-up. -
Well I added him to my fantasy team. We'll see if he can get me out of 4th place.

I would inquire, see what's out there but probably wouldn't make any moves. Before the injuries started accumulating, the Wings were 1st with several games in hand. Besides, the only aspect of our roster right now that actually has me worried about a long playoff run is goaltending, and there aren't a whole lot of cheap options out there right now.

Hell yeah, my girlfriend just surprised me with tickets to this game!

CRAP Goalie fights are rare enough as it is, and when we finally get one some pansy gets KO'd on first contact. Oh well, maybe in five years we'll get a better scrap.

What the hell was Subban thinking when he jumped? That's the last thing you want to do. Get low, PK, not high. Also, that Umberger hit on Seabrook was one of the best hits I've seen all year.

You guys will need a scout in Europe if you want to be successful. I don't know much about scouting, but I'd love to see Europe. Am I in?

We'll lose one game the entire month. We'll still be third or fourth in the power rankings.

Red Wings Hosting the Classic, 24/7at some point?
Echolalia replied to Eggs Over Eavesy's topic in General
I'm very comfortable with my guess that the Rangers will somehow be involved in the next Winter Classic. Probably not against the Wings, though. -
Larry Murphy's "HELLLOOO!!" really made the moment for me

Cleary has been cleared to play for Wednesday. Datsyuk won't be returning until at least this weekend.

Yeah one month is not long at all for rehabilitation of a drug of any kind. I'm guessing he showed up to practice drunk one too many times, the team forced him to do a month of rehab and that's that.

Well this is a hockey forum. Its been my experience that most people who watch hockey with the passion that we do have had their hand in the game at some point in their lives. The poll results are dead even right now, too, except between those who admit they don't have a history of playing the sport.

I gave you a +1 for positively enforcing honesty.

Even in the 90s when there was no cap, the Wings fighters were also regular point-getters. Shanahan was a beast with the puck, Kocur almost broke 40 points, McCarty almost broke 50. Hell, even Probert was known to light the lamp. Go Broncos! also: no enforcer, BS in biomedical science, double minor in chemistry and psychology, currently interviewing at medical schools (Wayne State was yesterday, MSU is on Thursday) for Fall 2011.

I don't support a goon being on the team that will accumulate less than 10 points throughout the course of the season and will average a fight/game. I would like a power-forward type though, who can contribute offensively at least as regularly as Miller or Eaves right now, yet can also drop the gloves, lay heavy hits, and wear down the opposition on a nightly basis when need be. The problem with getting someone like that on the roster is cap-space. A player who can score occasionally and hit hard demands more money than a strictly finesse/shooter/passer or strictly tough guy does. When the type of player we're talking about is likely going to have 3rd or 4th line minutes, is it worth the investment in him? For what its worth, I would love to see Steve Downie in a Wings uniform (if the price is right of course)

One of the bloggers at sports.yahoo.com recently came out with an article about enforcers vs tough players. Maybe it will help you prove or disprove your theory. http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Bourne-Blog-When-it-comes-to-intimidation-it-s;_ylt=ApsvQnZm1BOOniwrWuMt.eF7vLYF?urn=nhl-312277 PS, you could say he played hockey in NA, too. edit: Doc I just saw you posted the same link in the identical enforcer thread earlier.

Its a 35+ contract, no? So it would stay on the books.

I would love nothing more than to have Doughty in a Wings' uniform, but he's gonna be a King for life, imo

That is the goofiest avatar I have seen on these boards

I have no clue. This just seems like a monumental aspect of the CBA that I would have imagined someone would have utilized in some capacity already.

Wait..... what????? This doesn't seem right. Why haven't we ever heard of a player rejecting being picked up off waivers before?
