I would hate for someone who absolutely decimated a guy with a horribly cheap hit to the head get off free because the player that was hit just happened to miss 0 games. Likewise, I would hate for someone to miss the entire season on a questionable hit that happened to concuss the player (with a bad history of concussions) for 82 games.

Every game we win, we lose a player to injury

Between this year's injuries and last year's injuries, I'd say the hockey gods pretty much owe us a Stanley Cup this year.

You know- his shot reminds me of Hudler's. They're both legit snipers when they have the time and space. The difference between the two is Eaves can still handle himself when he doesn't have the time or space. Perhaps not create scoring chances, but he can protect the puck. Also, yes. As long as our PP is ticking, Eaves needs to be a part of it.

He certainly reminds me of Kris Draper moreso than anyone else. His speed creates so many opportunities; if he can fine tune his hands and his shot a little more I daresay he'll be a 20 goal-scorer.

People tend to consider the entire team's efforts when looking at wins or losses. Yes, the goalie is a big part of that, but so are the 20 or so players that skate in front of him. Going by wins alone isn't a compelling way to convince folks that a goalie is HOF caliber or worthy of number retirement. It kinda sucks for Ozzie, though, because he's demonstrated that he's a legit goalie away from the Wings. I see him getting into the HOF, but there's no way in hell the number 30 will be hanging from the rafters in the next 20 years.

Usually enforcers are plugs for the fourth line, which incidentally has been our best line as of late.

lets not take this one for granted and walk away with 2 points.

Am I remembering correctly DMac or some other tough guy Red Wing throwing an Avs stick into the crowd during a game during the rivalry?

I wouldn't mind seeing Jordan Staal in a Wings uniform, if it means saying goodbye to Flip.

Honestly I wasn't all that impressed with Tatar's first go with the Wings. He had the game-tying goal, yes, but other than that you could tell it was his first NHL game. Mursak has been the more impressive of the two IMO, despite presently being outscored. Here's to hoping he keeps the streak alive though, and the Wings get a W to start off the new year.

Hello Caps and Kings!

Oh my god this needs to be sent to whomever is in charge of music at the Joe for him to play after the next Wings' hattrick.
-
He's had a hell of a career, but I just don't see his number hanging from the rafters. The very fact that we even have to debate it speaks volumes against his chances. He's good, but he's not on the same level as Yzerman, Howe, and co.

So who are the out-of-staters who got their curly fries? Woodward and 13 for me.

I hear ya. I'm more of a George guy myself.

I was thiiiis close to putting "where's the other 98%" in the subtitle in reference to "What's the deal with 2% milk". I regret it now that Seinfeld has made an appearance in my thread.

I don't think he'll end up having the turnaround that Cleary did, although I would love if he did. The guy is on a hot streak for sure, but its only a matter of time before he cools off and when Dats and Cleary (and Modano for that matter) work their way back into the lineup, Eaves won't have the opportunities to produce that he has now. At the very least he has the chance to put a seed in Babs' mind that he's capable of a scorer's role, and maybe if we lock him up for a couple more years he might get that opportunity with some of our older players moving on or slowing down.

I suspect that you guys are all right to a degree. I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing it, though.

And the Wings game should be ending just in time for this one to start which means three and a half hours of hockey for me tonight. Here's to hoping Sid loosens up a bit after the plethora of interviews he'll no doubt have. The kid has to have some personality hiding in there somewhere.
