I think players are generally larger and more fit than in the past also. Power-forwards often rely on brute strength to barrel to the net, and that's not going to happen when everyone between you and the goalie is 200+ pounds. There seems to be an interesting graph supporting this idea here, but I don't have espn insiders so I can't know for sure.

I'm excited. Abby plays a gritty, hard-nosed style and its only appropriate that he learn to stick up for himself when he pushes the opposition too hard. Needless to say, I expect him to push the opposition too hard.

What's the word on the street about this guy? I haven't been following the NHLPA follies very closely. -
Osgood is probably the best value goaltender of the past 20 years. He's a solid goalie, either best of the average of worst of the elite (however you want to look at it), but because he wont be taking 5+M from a team, he gets surrounded by elite talent. The consequence is success.

Toews is good. He's a hard worker, has a great deal of talent, has a good hockey sense and is a great leader. But this kid has to be one of the most overrated players, at least for now.

This is such a goofy picture Anyway, this whole Lilja situation has the same feeling of awkwardness to it as getting caught sleeping with your girlfriend's best friend. Especially when she only wants a 1M birthday present instead of a 1.5M birthday present like your soon to be ex. And that your ex has a concussion problem. You know, that kind of awkwardness.

My girlfriend was a marching-band freak when I first got together with her. Now she's a hockey freak capable of passing moderate difficulty pop quizzes that I randomly throw at her. Her favorite player is Datsyuk, although she had a fondness for Downey when he was with us. -
Without the Avs the Wings may likely have gone on to win three more Cups in the past two decades. My question is this: would winning three Cups be worth never experiencing the rivalry?
