I don't usually comment on grammar, but that post could really use some periods.

I'm hoping Philly makes it. While I don't expect the Flyers to make a deep playoff run (nor the Rangers, for that matter), I do think their physical style of play will wear on their opponents and make them more prone to lose later in the postseason. If the Wings make it to the Finals, I would prefer they verse at team that had to take on the Flyers more than a team that had to take on the Rangers.

Well he is an alternate captain...
-
He just sucks at charting faceoffs.
-
Fair enough. In any event, its truly a scary situation to have a rookie goaltender in the playoffs with an .800 backup
-
Every aspect of today's game was ugly, not just goaltending, not just defense, not just offense.
-
Regardless of how they seed, if they verse the Coyotes they'll have home ice.
-
I think that works both ways though. Put anyone next to Lidstrom and they aren't going to look so hot in comparison. I'm not denying that he turns the puck over and is prone to mistakes, but he's still a top-2 defensman on most teams in the league.

Feel free to take over the job as I've officially retired from updated in this thread. Of course if Jimmy sucks in his next game I'm relinquishing your rights.

I love how the majority of these are hockey related So much for good publicity.

Oh no! So what are your superstitions? Right now I have one that involves not updating the Jimmy Howard Watch Thread or else he won't have a strong following game. Alas I updated earlier and am hoping against all odds that superstitious tics don't actually influence real life.
-
Definitely April fools. There's just way too many factors that would have to be ironed out for this to become reality, one of which is a good number of people losing jobs.

Thumbing through that link gives me hope a about Howard's Calder chances. It seems the league is putting a lot of stock into the wins column (comparing Howard to other goalies) as well as the rookie's influence on the team's standings. Myers was almost a point per game player in March, and Gustavson had the same s% and a lower GAA, but less games played/less wins. Hopefully the same mindset applies when they determine the Calder winner. Personally I didn't think Howard's March was all that strong. Not weak, but the numbers didn't stand out to me as much as a number of other times throughout the year.

Jimmy's stats in the opening post are still and will forever be un-updated. All is well.

I'm honored to be here for it

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=523565 Howard is the second star for March.

Is there a stream perhaps?

They're at it again: http://www.secondcityhockey.com/2010/3/31/1398896/to-quote-eric-bogosian-in-under Granted they have like a 90% chance of winning the division, but this is some serious bad juju, especially when combined with the pig mural. Edit: Does any other team sell division championship stuff?

Does this year prove that hockey doesnt belong in phoenix?
Echolalia replied to wmubronco420's topic in General
I don't think there exists a spot where hockey doesn't belong. The trouble is catering the game to folks who are largely ignorant of the sport, which is something the NHL has struggled with in some markets. As for whether Phoenix should have a hockey team based on their attendance records- I think Drake Marcus is right. People want successful teams. I remember versing the Coyotes in 98 in the playoffs and their arena was completely sold out and the crowd was all one color. -
You stopped reading after the end of his post? Anyway, I hope to death that Hudler returns to the NHL. While he was small and questionable defensively at times, he knew how to shoot the puck better than most Wings players do now, and was good at picking out open ice in the offensive zone.

By top ten Red Wings do you mean the best raw hockey talent, or the players that most exemplify what being a Wing is all about? Because those two lists would be completely different for me.
-
This might be too awesome for LGW

Hopefully he can keep at it next year, and work on his rebound control. I'll admit that it has been getting better as the season progresses, but he still has some ways to go before I'll be completely comfortable with him in net without a defensman or two to bail him out. If he can master his rebound issue a Vezina may definitely be in his future. Also, I'm not updating this thread for the rest of the season. My superstition was confirmed

The Wings are still four wins out of the division lead.
