I get the excitement for Mantha, Larkin, and Athanasiou, but wouldn't you agree its a bit premature to label the other three as future core players when none of them are even established NHLers? It wasn't too long ago many people were saying Nyquist Tatar Jurco Sheehan will be a solid core for the Wings.

Hell, expand that to AHL and the argument is still just as sound. This guy has been playing college hockey for 4 years now and has 11 points and is -12. Mind you, this is against college boys, not professional hockey players. His opposition is made up of kids who are mostly going to grow up to work in marketing or accounting and play in beer leagues on the weekends if they're not too tired from all the yard work and kid raising they'll have. And ol' Mike McKee has been unable to establish any sort of quantifiable success thus far against them. There's no basis for him having any sort of success in the AHL where people are actually good enough to play hockey for a living, and certainly not to continue on to become one of the small fraction of successful AHL players who is able to translate into a successful NHL player. And yet for some reason if you search his name on our forum database you'll get over four hundred hits.

The only thing remotely noteworthy about this guy is the frequency that his name pops up in these forums.

Not to mention that if there was a concern that a message was going stale on the players, it might have been a good idea to not hire the same guy who had been preaching his message to half our team during their time in the AHL.

You're assuming that Larkin and Mantha will/should be playing together in the future. Dats and Z brought more to the team on separate lines because the opposition couldn't stack their defense against one line. The Z Mantha combo with Larkin on a separate line is just fine for now.

It makes perfect sense if you're about giving your team the best chance to win and make the playoffs, and that's exactly what Blashill is getting paid to do. Mrazek would have Blashill's faith in net if he played better. He hasn't. Thus he deserves nobody's faith.

He dropped back down to his weight from a couple years ago when he had that stint of success. Apparently he felt winded pretty easily after he beefed up. We'll see if it translates on the ice.

Lol this is the most ridiculous logic for evaluating a goalie. It's like choosing to walk blindly through a minefied again because despite losing your arms and hearing and suffering the secondary infections you somehow made it through the field alive the first time. Thankfully the organization would rather not walk the team blindly through a minefield over and over again cuz they scraped by a few times.
