My issue with whether its possible to play at the Palace stems from the fact that each team is currently run independently with their own resources, employees, etc. Merging the two teams into the same building seems like it would result in a lot of lost jobs, possible lost affiliations, sponsors, etc. A number of food venues within the Palace would also have to be dropped/shuffled to accommodate the Illitches' (the palace sells Dominoes, the Illitches own little caesars). You would also have to move all the hockey operations offices out of the Joe to some new location that isn't the Palace that would also have to be rented out. There's a plethora of issues that need to addressed, and I see too many of the for this to be a realistic option. Hockeytown001 posted a good sized list of problems a while back that might be worth looking at.

thanks for the update edit: also this damn commercial for the lexus is driving me up the wall
-
how has the game looked?
-
The gold is still Canada's/Russia's to lose.
-
I don't think sharing the Palace is possible.
-
I'm surprised how many games ended up going to OT so far
-
I don't even know where to start when making a prediction. I'd take Russia's top guys over Canada's any day of the week, but Canada has some serious depth.

Kanye weighs in on the Crosby Shootout . . .

honestly i don't know much about what he did prior to the nhl so your probably correct. regardless i have yet to see anyone perform that move anywhere near the smoothness that Datsyuk is capable of. -

Omark definitely pioneered it, but he certainly didn't master it to the level Datsyuk has. The fluidity that Dats has when he pulls that move is absolutely sick. -

I know a certain team that should have a defensive coach opening in the NHL next season if he's interested. -

Was Rafalski on the ice for every goal scored? -
I don't think its realistic to execute the Wings playing in the Palace, even if for a year. I suspect the Joe will be re-leased for a couple years while a new arena, headed up by Mr. Wilson, is erected.

The 2002 team had role-players as well

is there an online link? I can't find anything outside of Tom Wilson resigning on the internet right now.

I think Yzerman should have picked a Ryan Smyth-type that specializes in giving Miller-types hell. Team Canada has plenty of high-end talent. They need more role players.

I couldn't have drawn up a more ideal scenario for the US. But seriously, its absolutely astounding that one of Canada or Russia will not be medaling.

He was also playing alongside Esposito, Ken Hodge, and John Bucyk, who each scored over 100 points that year. That Boston team was absolutely stacked in the early 70's.

2010 Winter Olympics - Sweden vs Finland (Group C)
Echolalia replied to redwings8831's topic in General
OK im confused so maybe someone can clear something up for me. The winner of this game determines whether USA is top seed, and thus gets a bye, correct? But I'm hearing online and through NBC that the US clinched a bye already. So what am I missing? -

you mean we didn't just win gold? -
Actually this is somewhat interesting. I'm seeing two captains on the Canadian team. Niedermayer, who was elected to wear the C from hockey pros, and then Crosby who is essentially the media-Captain. That's not to take anything away from Crosby or Niedermayer; both are excellent players in their own rights, but its amazing how much influence the media exerts over this kind of stuff.

2010 Winter Olympics - Canada vs United States (Group A)

That was end-to-end excitement for the entire 60 minutes. This is exactly why the NHL cannot omit themselves from the Olympics in the future. Seriously, if Bettman is sincere in wanting to expand the game, then he needs to do what he can to make sure more of tonight happens in the future. -
