Has there ever been a fight in an Olympic hockey game before? -

I'm more excited to see Backes than anyone else at the moment. -
Yeah, I think Russia's biggest enemy right now is the amount of egos they have in the locker-room. The last game they played there was no chemistry on the ice, and everyone wanted to make that flashy move themselves and be the hero of the game.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=518353 Russia has made some adjustments as well. Dats has an opportunity to show Kovy what he's missing out on

I feel like there are too many superstar egos on the Russian team. There is practically no chemistry from what I saw today. -

If I'm not mistaken, that currently makes the US the top seed, no? -
I always thought Nabby was overrated as a goaltender. Sure he's solid, but I always looked at him as the best of the average goaltenders instead of an average elite goaltender.

It seems like every time a former Wing approaches free agency, the rumor guys start throwing out the Wings as interested.
-
they have two 18's right now so there's definitely a typo in there somewhere

If we won every shootout we played in (pssh) we'd be in 6th place right now instead of 10th.

Heading into the Olympic break, Jimmy is currently riding 5th in save percentage league-wide, and 6th in goals against league-wide. He has played in 43 games and started in 41 of those. In terms of rookie goaltenders, only Tuuka Rask of the Bruins has a comparable s% and GAA, however he has played 14 fewer games than Jimmy has. Duchene leads all rookies with 42 points (20g 22a) and is a -1. Tavares is second with 34 points (17g 17a) and a -18. Tyler Myers, a defensman, is 4th in rookie scoring with 32 points (8g 24a) and is a +5. Overall Howard is definitely a strong Calder candidate at this point in the season. What really may help his odds is that a good argument can be made that Howard has been a larger impact to his team than any other rookie player. Hopefully he gets to relax a bit over this Olympic break, and he comes back refreshed and ready to ride this season out.

But not too fast! Life ends at 60.

I need to see a screenshot of this

The Wings are not out of the race by a long-shot. They get to verse Calgary two more times this season, and have a lot of games between our division and conference coming up. The last two months are going to be an absolute dogfight, but the Wings are still largely in control of their fate.

I watched the past two games on TV and it was quite noticeable that the Joe was hopping.

my biggest fear is that after whoring out the glass, the next step is jersey real estate

I don't suppose the Cal Ana game is possible?

Go Ducks! Dallas is winning 3 to 0 with only a couple minutes left in that game so it doesn't look like we'll be going into the Olympic break in a playoff spot...
-
lets go wings!

Its astounding how we can pretty much lose every game since the beginning of January but still be one win away from a playoff spot.
