I think other teams are realizing how terrible the PP is. Does anyone know our turnover rate for the power play right now?
-
Oh my gosh Osgood
-
If May sees any ice time in the third I'm all for it
-
Geez I don't think anyone can utilize momentum quite the way Nashville does.
-
So what's the streak end at?
-
Kovy's not worth 11M. Frankly I don't think anyone is worth more than 8M
-
I like those Nashville jerseys.

This question is much more interesting now than it was three months ago. We have had a great deal of young talent come in and particularly our bottom 6 has been a huge reason why the Wings are where they are in the standings. So who gets dropped from the lineup? These are highly tentative lines just to show what gaps we need to fill (ie these guys below are signed through next year): Dats Z Homer Franzen Fil _____ Cleary ____ Leino Draper ____ ____ _____ Rafalski Stuart Kronwall Ericsson _____ Osgood/Howard for a caphit of 41.58M and about 15.2M to work with. From what I've gathered, its seems more likely that Lids will be returning than not. I don't expect him to be the highest paid player on the team if he returns, but its anyone's guess as to what he'll get paid. I'm hoping for a caphit of 3.75M with a 5M+2.5M two-year contract, but Lids might want to take it one year at a time. That leaves Holland with a top 6 role and three bottom 6 roles to fill, as well as a bottom 6 defensman. I assume Abby and Helm will take two of the bottom six spots for somewhere around 1M each (?), maybe a little higher if they get multiyear deals, which might be more beneficial in the long run, pending their development. And I hope Eaves sticks around to fill out that last bottom 6 role; I've liked what he's done so far, and feel he can still bring his game up to another level given enough time. If he does return, I doubt it would be for league min again, but I don't see it being more than 1M. So that takes care of about 8M worth of space and that leaves us with a second liner and a bottom six defensman that still needs to be acquired. I'm still not sold on Kindl (is he out of minor league options?), and I think this might be Meech's last year with the Wings. I have no clue whether Lebda will be around after this year. Ideally I hope not, but he is cheap and knows the Wings' system well so Holland might want to have him stick around. Its most likely going to be cheaper to have Lebda or Kindl here than bring someone in from outside, but again this is all speculation. Anyway, that gives us between 6 and 7M for a second line option, or we can choose to not sign one of the above and have that money for two roles to be filled for more depth (most likely a forward, though, because again, I expect Lids to return and I don't think Holland will be pushing to invest a great deal on a top 4 defensman at this point, especially because we seem to be improving defensively this year with the roster we have).

Yeah I think I remember not picking it up last year. I've lucked out so far this year and have been elsewhere for FNS+ games. Oh well, I'm thankful for free online streams for times like this.
-
Thank you kindly.
-
Does anyone know what channel FSN+ is on charter in the Kalamazoo (just outside WMU) area?
-
That kid has some spunk, and he hasn't looked as out of place on the second line as I expected him to be either. I think his future in the NHL might be brighter than I first anticipated.
-
Not surprising, but its still a feat just to play a game at his age.
-
He has really stepped up when we needed him to. Hopefully he can keep it up, and I wouldn't be against seeing a letter sewn onto his jersey once Lids retires, but not the 'C'.
-
Between the second and third periods I looked to my roommate and said "We're gonna tie this game up and win it 3 to 2 in overtime"

Methinks there's a fisherman afoot...

According to mlive, Filppulla is aiming at Dec 26th return, Kronwall a week after that, and Williams hopes to be back by the second week of January. We have 8 games until then. http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2009/12/re...bug_soldie.html Godspeed.

It seems to me that in the face of all these injuries Datsyuk has been trying to do too much and he's becoming less effective because of it. I've caught him trying to make one too many moves on a defensman, or try that impossible pass down low with three guys on him that even Dats can't do. He's even been shooting the puck more, but his aim has been off. I'm guessing the real issue behind his lack of production come from his responsibility as a star player, and trying to carry the team more than he's used to. Who knows, though. None of us talk to him.

Franzen won't be back for a while, so lines won't be complete until late in the season, but because of the plethora of injuries we've sustained I imagine there will be a great deal of juggling as folks start to come back. Ideally I'm hoping for: Datsyuk Zetterberg Homer Williams Filppulla Cleary Bertuzzi Abdelkader Leino Draper Helm Eaves but who the hell knows.

Hey better late than never. LGW always has amazing GDTs compared to other sites. Keep up the good work and lets hope for a victory tonight!
-
Oh Micah... so quick to make personal jabs on something as trivial as an internet forum argument. I still love you though, champ!
-
So who's out alltogether? Its getting hard to keep track of everyone. Franzen Filppula Williams Cleary Kronwall Lilja Geez we seriously have more than an entire line that wouldn't normally be playing that's suiting up each night.

I think it just might be Raj Nerwhal time

You must not have seen the two posts, the near-goal breakaway, or the tic-tac-toe play at the very beginning of the game. But that's the way the game goes, sometimes.

PS Conklin also said he expects the Wings to be in the playoffs, for anyone grasping for a thread.
