If only May was in the lineup
-
I felt we sincerely deserved to win tonight, which puts the "deserved to win but didn't" column at 3 by my count.
-
His goals column would be a bit more stacked if he knew how to shoot on net.
-
I wonder if the past two years of mediocrity will prevent him from getting into the HOF
-
All the other teams are starting to get their players back. I'm jealous.
-
Most of us have school/jobs so activity on this site is slow during the day from 9-5ish.
-
I expect the Wings to trade away their first round pick for a prospect + second/third round pick, and then they'll pick a first round caliber player with that.

Ericsson seems to have top 4 defensman potential once he steps away from the rookie mistakes, and he seems like someone that the Wings will want to have around for a while. Its really hard to gauge how good or bad Howard could be, and his future with the Wings is complicated with all the talent in net we apparently have in the minors right now. I do see him becoming a number 1 goalie somewhere at some point in his career, though. Tatar has yet to play a game in the NHL, but his AHL stats are pretty good right now. I can't make an opinion on him or his future with the Wings at this point, unfortunately. Helm has the same moldings of Draper, and I expect the organization will want that style of play as the foundation of a third or fourth line for a while. Eaves has looked amazing in a bottom 6 role. Granted, he isn't the top 6 scorer he was once thought to be, but he's cheap, effective, plays defensively, and has a lot of potential which are all things the Wings' organization values. I expect he'll be resigned after this year is up, but I don't know whether he'll be around long-term. If he continues to play and improve the way he has this season, though, I hope he's a Wing for as long as possible.

I'm not ready to give up on this kid. He has so much potential, but he gets thrown off the puck too easy and seems a step behind the speed of the NHL. Granted its a shame that he hasn't been able to live up to the expectations he set last year, but I suppose I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up so high about him being an immediate success.

Whoa hold on a second, please explain to me how "experimental intermediate phase" equates to "giving up on the team in October" and being a "neagtive ass on the bandwagon"? I don't expect that you follow my posts, but you'll do a quick search you'll see that I've been posting just as regularly this year through the tough times and watching the games as frequently as I have throughout the rest of my life, or for as much as you'll be able to research on me at least, my life on LGW. It's no secret that the Wings lost a lot of players in the offseason and didn't have much caproom to fill the gaps this season. It's also no secret that they will have more cap room in the future to play with, thus it seems like its pretty straightforward why this season could be considered an intermediate between two legit contending periods. And again, its no secret that we have a lot of new blood, specifically a lot of rookies this year, and quite frankly this is a great opportunity to see how they can cope at the NHL level over 82 games plus playoffs, permitting. Thus this year is largely experimental. So please, don't jump to conclusions about me, especially about my fandom.

Sorry, but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be taking away from this. I suppose I could do the same thing now and compare Howard's numbers to Osgood's for this year, but I don't want to establish myself as supporting one goalie over the other for the postseason right now. As I said earlier I don't care too much one way or the other, but I don't like comparing past numbers over present numbers to support why player A should be in and player B should not.

So what's the deal with the guys we picked up? It seems that Dombrowski was aiming more for quantity than quality, but I will admit I don't know much about the folks heading here.
-
A2Y is quite possibly the single biggest reason that Red Wings fans are viewed as conspiracy theorists and elitist fans.
-
You know someone's just going to mention something about the league being high scoring back then and you have to adjust for 'deflation' since then to make new statistics, and those new made up statistics will clearly benefit Osgood . Anyway, what matters now is how each of them are playing today. We don't have rookie Osgood sitting game after game on the bench right now.
-
I don't care who's in net come May. Coming into this season back in October I always looked at the 09-10 year as more of an experimental intermediate phase between two contending periods. If Howard is in, all the more experience for him. If Osgood's in, good for him and the team.

Somebody fire Dombrowski. I have no reason to watch the Tigers anymore.
-
I'm hoping against all odds he'll be in against the Blackhawks on the 23rd.
-
The Blackhawks are in the same division as us. The best one of us can do if the other is division champ is 4th.
-
I totally thought he was already retired... edit: I would hardly say the Flyers' goal is more notable than his contributions to the rivalry.
-
Yzerman came to my hockey party and Sean Burr skated on a line with me in some of my practices for districts. That's about it.
-
I can't even imagine him swearing and it being sincere. Seriously, mold a swear word in your mind around his voice. It's probably best that he doesn't peptalk too much.
-
He has said the same thing for players on our team, numerously. He also complains about reffing pretty consistently, regardless of who is getting burned.

The internet is serious business.

hahaha I was reading through the details thinking, "oh what a great way to give back to the community, and maybe some fans will go out and tell them that we appreciate them or something" and all of a sudden I read the footnote: "Somebody go and tell Lebda he sucks" That's comedy.
