I am loving that Stuart and Kronwall are playing physically
-
I gotta say these commentators know how to praise the Wings
-
Gustavson is massive. How tall/heavy is this kid?
-
That's odd; he looked really effective in the preseason. I wonder whether there was a lockerroom dynamic or if it was simply that he is too old to cut it on an 82 game season.
-
This is extremely exciting. Having a player go straight to Grand Rapids is the Red Wings' equivalent of having a player go straight to the nhl team after being drafted. Even with Leino, Helm, and Ericsson up this year, the future still looks bright.

I have 13 votes right now. Lets get it at least up to 20.
-
Don't worry I'm working on a better one as we speak
-
if you were Robert Lang, where would you be right now?

I'm not too worried about the goalie situation. Either he can cut it or he can't, and worst case scenario is that we don't win the Cup this year and next year one of McCollum or Larsson or some free agent come in to help out. And the only way that I could see it being Howard's fault that the Wings lose the Cup is if Osgood gets injured after the deadline (so Holland can't make a trade to account for the deficit) and he's out for long enough for Howard to have enough of an opportunity to screw things up for the Wings in the postseason. Certainly its possible that it could happen, but not really that likely (knock on wood).

Okay I'm content with this vote count. Luongo took the 9th spot with 7 votes, or 33.33% (That is the smallest percentage to win so far). Kovalchuk took second place with 5 votes (23.81%) Parise took third place with 3 votes (14.29%) Thomas and Broduer took 4th place with 2 votes each (9.52%) Hossa and Chara came up the rear with 1 vote each (4.76%) This round had a total of 21 votes. And for 10th best (or half way there!!!!): I'll continue to start us off with a vote for Kovalchuk. ps: thanks for continuing to bold your answers; it makes it a lot easier to count it. No problem.

Maltby figures to contribute to making up for the goals lost in the offseason

About an hour and a half ago. Did anyone see Leino's goal? I just missed it, so a play-by-play would be nice.

Is tonight's game televised?

Voting has petered off at 15 votes. I'll keep it open until the end of the day for at least 5 more votes. Right now we're still voting for 9th best player (best player not including Ovechkin, Lidstrom, Crosby, Datsyuk, Malkin, Zetterberg, Iginla, or Getzlaf).

I'm pumped about lines two and four
-
Tatar looked really solid on that shift. He generated two quality scoring chances.
-
Even thought they didn't score, they looked really good passing and creating chances.
-
This is getting ugly and close.

Welcome to the forum. There are alot of folks who post here who aren't from Michigan, including an Aussie, some nice people from the UK and Sweden, and of course a number of different states such as Ohio, Minnesota, California, etc. I'm glad to hear that you have a positive view of Williams, but I think most of the hate towards him is simply because our old player to hate on (Sammy) left, and because Wings fans demand perfection, anyone incapable of playing like Datsyuk is subject to ridicule. That and he's lazy and he sucks
-
Okay I suppose I'll close off voting for this round. We had 19 total votes with Getzlaf coming in first with 9 votes, or 47.37% Kovalchuk and Luongo tied with 3 votes each (15.79%) Parise had 2 votes (10.53%) Towes and Chara each had 1 vote (5.26%) 1)Ovechkin 2)Lidstrom 3)Crosby 4)Datsyuk 5)Malkin 6)Zetterberg 7)Iginla 8)Getzlaf Lets get voting started for 9th best. I start off with Kovalchuk

Williams shuts up the naysayers
