My Holmstrom is injured and will be on LTIR theory continues to gain steam.

The start of the season Babcock will roll: Datsyuk Homer Filppulla Zetterberg Franzen Williams Cleary Leino Bertuzzi Helm Draper Eaves but after a 3 game losing streak where 4 goals are scored over that span he'll shuffle them up to: Datsyuk Zetterberg Homer Franzen Filppulla Williams Cleary Leino Bertuzzi Helm Draper Eaves but then Bertuzzi will get injured (don't worry, nothing major) Datsyuk Zetterberg Homer Franzen Filppulla Williams Cleary Leino Eaves Helm Draper Maltby but mid-game Babs decided that Eaves isn't doing so hot, and replaces him and Helm for the remainder of the game. It turns out it won't make a difference. Shortly after Homer will have to sit a couple games and Babs will roll with this: Datsyuk Filppulla Cleary Zetterberg Franzen Williams Leino Helm Eaves Maltby Draper Abdelkader But will promptly shuffle lines like crazy throughout the next two games. No one has any clue what is going on, especially after Osgood is penciled in the third line, and Cleary takes net. (Bert and Homer later return on the same day). After experiencing the high of shuffling lines (and we have a dominant lead over the rest of the West at this point), Babs gets "creative" Datsyuk Fillppulla Helm Zetterberg Franzen Leino Williams Bertuzzi Cleary Eaves Draper Homer But immediately returns to his original lines.

I imagine they'll take one years from here on out. Somewhere between 5M and 6M next year seems realistic, although a three year "front loaded" contract seems lucrative, despite the possible risks. 5.5M, 3.5M, 1.5M over three years. Scratch that. 12 year contract, front loaded for a cap hit of .75M

Usually around 20%. I understand better than most the financial plights of a high-school/college student. The person below me will stir up quite the tongue-lashing should I forget to add a person below me statement again. (you can tell by the edit message)

I've edited my post accordingly.

We lost 88 goals and get back 76 goals - Good Job Kenny!
Echolalia replied to Snazzy's topic in General
Hossa doesn't count. He is, what we call in the math world, a statistical anomaly. We lost 48 goals and supply 46. -
Dear LGW faithful, Could someone please summarize for those of us who don't have access to speakers or bandwidth capable of streaming, or are in Japan at the moment? Thanks, someone who doesn't have access to speakers or bandwidth capable of streaming, or is in Japan at the moment.

While I agree with you that I think a lot of people are acting a bit silly over the signings this summer, I don't think a sign of a fairweather fan (or a not-true hockey fan) is questioning players/management. That's a sign of freewill, and I'm glad that people aren't so blind as to scarf down anything thrown in front of them. In this case, though, I think Holland has done a damn good job all things considered.

Holy cow I can't believe that he just about made up for the losses offensively. I always assumed that Hossa was never even worth throwing into the mix because we won the Cup just fine without him, but here we are, 12 goals less than last year, more new-blood, more grit, more players with more reasons to prove themselves. This is going to be an interesting year to say the least. -
The Red Wings medical staff is apparently impressed with Bert's condition, and his back problems seem to be as fixed as their going to get. http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=AqrL...p&type=lgns

I dunno I think i would prefer the movie be played in fast-forward, with the Yakity Sax song playing in the background.

For how much Holland invested in Eaves, Williams, Bertuzzi, Leino, Helm, Howard, and Eriksson, I feel that the bare minimum production from that group of individuals will exceed what they're collectively earning. In addition, the likes of many of these guys have the capability of surprising us. Eaves used to be highly touted, Bertuzzi used to be a flawless Franzen, Leino is teeming with potential, Helm makes something out of nothing almost regularly, Eriksson looks as good as Lidstrom did when he first started, and Williams and Howard are both comfortable enough with the organization and their roles within to give them a justified shot. If just one of them pans out to fulfill their maximum capabilities this year, we'll be in a wonderful position. In any event, I always looked at this season as just the path between point A and B; A being last year and B being 2010-2011, when we'll have a great deal of free space to work with. Holland has exceeded my expectations for this year, and I still feel we're in a select group of favorites to win the Cup.

Like Homer on LTIR?

Devellano says Wings close to signing Bertuzzi
Echolalia replied to WingMachine91's topic in General
I posted this in the Holmstrom thread also, but I figure its relevant here too. A potentially scary thought just occurred to me. Adding Bertuzzi to our roster puts us just under 1M over the cap, which is more than Lebda's entire salary. That means the odd man out is Lilja, yet it seems like he would be too much of an unknown with his injury to know what we can do with him at this point. Will we be able to trade him with his injury? Will he be too healthy to be on IR for as long as the Wings need him to be in order to retain Bert? And why bring in Bertuzzi, who plays a similar style as Homer, Franzen and Cleary? We have a good amount of drive-the-net types right now, and with Holland's knack for efficiency with filling gaps, it seems like he would've brought in someone more goal score worthy, or right-handed, or good at PK. One of the three. (A cheaper Prospal comes to mind) Then I began thinking. What if Homer is injured and they don't expect him to play much this year? He was hurt pretty bad last year, and in the playoffs there was definitely something bugging him enough to stop him from doing what he needs to do. That would certainly warrant bringing in Bertuzzi to fill in his role on the top line (or Franzen's on the second), and it would justify passing on Prospal (or another more injury-free scorer who shoots right handed or plays the PK), because he isn't the type to drive the net. It also gives Holland a bit more leeway with the whole Lilja situation to make signing a third forward this year a bit more plausible, because Homer might be on LTIR as well. Between him and Lilja, Holland may also have some capspace left for the deadline in case Howard doesn't pan out, but that's incredibly tentative. I don't know. I'm probably just freaking myself out, but it fits a little too well for my liking. -

I'm pleased with Eaves, and I will be with Bertuzzi if he signs, but Williams I'm bummed about, mainly because Prospal was available and was taken for cheaper, and I've wanted to see him in a Red Wings uniform for years. -
Thanks for clearing that up
-
There are a couple things I want to clear up really fast. McCarty pretty much said to the public that he was going to attack Lemieux. Something along the lines of "revenge is a dish best served cold. You never know when you're gonna get it. You never know when its coming to you." (paraphrase). He also waited for far longer than Bertuzzi did in seeking retribution.

I see what you did there. So is that really him?

I've had a couple vacations, and I have one more scheduled for October. The person below me expects me to insert a plug for the limerick and creative writing threads soon...

I don't know what cerviche is, let alone how to pronounce it, but I do love sushi. Singing or dancing

I don't get this. Didn't the trade deadline already pass?
