I suppose it depends on how healthy he is. When his body isn't bothering him, he is the best at planting himself in front of the net and not budging. That opens plenty of room for Dats and Z (or anyone) to maneuver. If he isn't capable of holding his own in front of the net, I would be for moving him down a couple lines, but I sincerely hope that it isn't necessary.

I've been trying to gain weight since freshman year of highschool. Only now have I started to see some results. From about 8 years ago to 2 years ago I was 6'2" and 135lbs. I'm finally filling out, and right now I have 160 pounds on my lanky frame. The person below me is tired

I think the idea is Holland wants Abdelkader to develop properly in the AHL, where he will get 20 minutes a night, versus stunting his growth in the NHL with 6-7 minutes a night. I don't know how I feel about price. He definitely has a history of injury, but I feel like 1M is low-balling it a bit. -
This is the type of issue that nobody is going to budge an inch on, regardless of what is said. Whats done is done, and nothing is going to change what happened or the fact that there is a very high chance that he will be wearing a Winged Wheel come October. You can either complain and say he shouldn't deserve to be in a hockey rink anywhere, or accept that he isn't suspended and is currently willing to give himself to the Wings organization to return the Cup to Detroit and its fans. Your call.

Give it to a hard-working rookie to make a point. There's no reason that San Jose shouldn't have a Cup right now. Or at the very least made the WCF.

The guy had horrible luck when he was here also. Like you said, he was making chances, driving the net, putting himself in the play, and backchecking well (a little too well with that Ozzy collision), but he was snake-bitten. The good news is he'll have a full 82+ games (barring injury) to get back on track in a relatively low pressure role, so hopefully he gets something going. -

Sorry. I didn't specifically think positions ala center or winger, rather who might be playing with whom. Anyway, I think that Williams is going to be playing the "sniper"/scorer of the second line, and Bertuzzi is going to be more of a drive the net and open space for Leino role, for whatever he can muster in his current status. Who knows where they'll end up, though. -

Datsyuk Zetterberg Homer Franzen Filppulla Williams Cleary Bertuzzi Leino Helm Draper Eaves Maltby I can dig it. There are definitely a lot of interesting line combinations -
The only thing that interests me from that excerpt is when he says he wants to leave Dynamo on that level. Everything else is just cause for motivation.

Summer rain Spring or Fall (has anyone noticed how fittingly opposite these words are in a physical aspect as well as seasonal?)

I do, but consequently I think I'm of below average putting-words-together-to-make-a-coherent-sentence while on the spot. People speculate that is because one has too many words to choose from to fit into a particular spot in a sentence, but I just think my Broca's area is small. The person below me goes with the flow

You an me both. I don't know that he's even doing well in Russia, but my info is out of date

This would make an interesting debate on jerseyfouls.

I still find it difficult to excuse him for not making the team. Regardless of the injury, he showed up to training camp out of shape and in no way capable of playing at a competitive level, NHL, KHL, or AHL. He also expected a spot on the Wings roster without having to put forth the added effort of earning it. Yes, he suffered a tough injury, but if its so bad that he can't even stay in shape then he shouldn't be coming over here expecting a spot in the first place.

While it is a copyrighted term that was originally made for marketing purposes, the fans and media have pushed it to become a symbol. That's why it is somewhat relevant today when people argue that Detroit isn't passionate enough to have the Hockeytown moniker. In any event, Hockeytown as a symbol represents the entire state of Michigan (as well as some nearby parts of Canada), and as such, there shouldn't be any argument against us bearing the title. Michigan claims more youth involvement in hockey organizations than anywhere in the country; there is a strong college history pertaining to hockey, including an annual collegiate tournament based around teams focused primarily around Michigan and the Cold War (which was not only a monumental occasion for college-level hockey, but for the game in general); While times are currently hard, Wings fans still make themselves heard at local bars and opponent venues (general knowlege that the Wings have the best nation-wide support). There is never a quiet night in Hockeytown Cafe, which is appropriate enough; The passion for the Wings regardless of whether corporate executives or blue-collar Andys fill the Joe tops that of the Pistons, Tigers and Lions, which cannot be said for any other state. Oh, and I suppose I should mention something about four Stanley Cups, five finals berths, countless Presidents' Trophies, and Hall of Famers that have passed through the area, but then it wouldn't be fair So even if you take the "Hockeytown as a symbol" route, I still don't see any problem with it remaining with Detroit.

I have no qualm with Bylsma. He's a stand-up guy, even when he's sitting down. Knowing that he has the Cup softens the pain that the rest of the Penguins having the Cup gives me.

2 things to take away from this. He said he's focused on winning a spot, implying he knows that the Wings brass still expects him to give it his all, despite what his chances are of making the team. Also, he's taking the time this off-season to focus on his weaknesses, not just maintain what he already has. This kid has it. Take a lesson Grigorenko. And Williams, too, if you want to make this as smooth as possible for us Wings fans.

There's no cap. If the Tigers can sell a potential success-story to some older vets, they should be able to replace any up-and-coming retirements/trades.
