Vanilla and Mickey and Ken, although Larry almost won it singlehandedly with his ridiculous quips Hockey player Larry Murphy, or secondary color commentator Larry Murphy

I didn't see any. Then again, I didn't see too many Wings fans. Then again, aren't they checking licenses prior to allowing people to buy tickets/enter? Then again, it is Pittsburgh we're talking about.

The Wings still have one more game to win, and it seems like the exact same thing that happened to the Wings after game 4 is happening to the Pens after game 5. They're being written off by storylines, past statistics, and good portions of fanbases from both Detroit and Pittsburgh. As totally pumped up as I am after Saturday, I'm still incredibly nervous for the next game (or two). Game 6 is in their barn, in front of a raucous crowd, and against an already dangerous Penguins lineup whose very survival now depends on a victory. They've shown they can play with the Wings, and we all know that's exactly what they're reiterating in their practices and team meetings right now. Game 6 is going to be hard enough to win without all the bad juju of writing them off. Maybe I'm just not used to all the harmony and positive vibes on this board (its been, what, two months since a goalie thread or a xxx is lazy and sucks thead), so I'm officially balancing out the threads of optimism and joy with a thread of fear and caution. You can all thank me later My name is Echolalia, and I'm still scared of the Penguins.

Contrats on getting through the boards. You should reward your hard work with a hard-working Helm jersey. Its only appropriate.

I can just about promise you that Crosby isn't going to win Conn Smyth this year. While he has been a solid pillar for his team through the first three series, Crosby has been effectively neutralized against the Wings. 3 points (two of which were during Detroit's second period collapse, the third point was a secondary assist on a power play) and a -2 in the Finals is anything but Conn Smyth material. Malkin, however, is a different story, although only for offensive reasons. His 35 points this postseason is the most since I think 1992 (could be wrong), and contributes to about 50% of the Penguins' goals this year. That alone is worth at least a consideration for the Conn Smythe, even if the Pens don't win the cup, however, what holds him back is his defensive play. Despite leading the league considerably in points, he is only a +2, which leaves much to be desired. If the Wings were to win the Cup, I would have to give the Conn Smythe to Osgood. If the Pens win the Cup, I would give it to Malkin.

I have a Lidstrom jersey and a winter classic hoodie that have very little superstitious powers, so I can't wear them every game. As such, I can only pick the games that matter the most to wear them, and the Wings tend to win on those occasions. I wore the Lids jersey on game 7 of the Ducks series, and wore the WCII jersey yesterday. I can't wear either on Tuesday because they're still in recovery mode, but Friday I'll wear the Lids jersey if I can find it (this last note may turn into a huge problem).

Oh geez, I almost don't want him to, especially in their barn. If I was a Pens fan and that happened I would be on suicide watch.

Tonight is a perfect example of why I think Crosby doesn't deserve the C. He's an amazing forward with a hockey sense like very few others to ever play the game, but this kid is a hothead, and instead of leading his team to keep composure, he becomes a cancer and leads his team to the box. I honestly can't believe how easy it is to get under his skin, and how that hasn't changed at all since his first day in the league. Now I have to give him the benefit of the doubt in that I'm not on the bench with them or in the lockerrooms or at their practices, so I don't know how he leads off the ice, but if I was Byalsma (sp?) I would really sit down and talk to him about his hot head. Anyway, who do you guys think has the most captain-like qualities on the Pens? Right now I'm leaning towards Guerin of all people, but he's been pretty quiet on the scoresheet.

my mom walked in and was like "does he work for the Penguins?"

I think you're forgetting about game 1 last year

Two assists and his pressure directly lead to two penalties that the Wings capitalized on. He also helped effectively neutralize Crosby and Malkin, and also showed that our stars are not excused from playing physical in this series. Yeah, he definitely was a major contributor. edit: also of note, I think, but the Wings have effectively shut out the Penguins in 3 of 7 games in the postseason that Datsyuk plays, versus 0 of 4 when he doesn't.

I'm guessing it was because Helm had Crosby lined up in center ice to get kronwalled, and even though Sid stepped out of the way, I don't think Kunitz took to kindly to it. That and they're a bunch of kids. The media was right: age is making a difference in this series.
-
Its amazing how much he controlled the game when he was out there. You can still tell that he isn't 100% (he didn't sprint for backchecking like he tends to), but apparently the media and Pens fans were incorrect in stating a less than 100% Datsyuk isn't going to matter.

The refs definitely had to prevent the fight there. Campbell would be pissed if he had to rescind a Malkin suspension again.
-
I'm suprised we didn't see Crosby's head flail back in horrendous pain.
