Good thing he has that playoff beard, huh!

They had to have Babs in an arena to remind viewers what sport he was involved it. People would've started thinking he was that prospect with the 120mph fastball

You bring up a good point, but when Osgood was at the helm in 1998, he had a number of weak center ice goals, and a lot of people immediately started saying he was the weakest link in an otherwise flawless Red Wings lineup. The severity of those goals, I think, was exaggerated by the fact that it happened multiple times on the same run to the Cup, as well as the fact that it happened in a somewhat vulnerable time for him, having to prove himself to the fanbase and media as Vernon's equal, after Vernon played so well for the Wings the year before and helped bring a Cup to Detroit. Speaking of which, Osgood has also been overshadowed by legends throughout his career, such as Vernon and Hasek, which definitely don't help the situation, but I'm still convinced it all started back in the playoffs of 1998, and the title just stuck.

The biggest argument against Osgood is the fact that he has been known for letting in the occasional softie. People look at that as a sign of a weak goaltender, then look at the numbers which state otherwise and give credit to the defense in front of him and remain convinced he isn't stellar. I've been in this situation with Osgood a couple times, and I'm sure I'll be there again, but regardless of what kind of defense he has in front of him, when the time comes for Osgood to prove his worth he rarely lets down. I don't think he'll ever steal a Cup like Roy did for Montreal, or steal a series even, but you can't downplay his worth to the Wings organization.

They aren't becoming the new Avalanche, because the level of that rivalry escalated to a world of its own, but a legitimate rivalry isn't too far from the horizon if you're uncomfortable with considering what we have with the Ducks right now a rivalry. The Ducks have pushed the Wings to their mental and physical limits, and brought the very best our team can be in terms of skill, and the Wings consistently do the same to the Ducks. There isn't a whole lot of serious brawls, but look at this last series: the Wings engaged in four fights. Nobody would have predicted that they would have gotten into four fights throughout the entire playoffs at the beginning of the April, let alone four fights in a single series. They weren't extreme Laraque-like fights, but it takes a lot to get the Wings to drop the gloves, and the Ducks succeeded in doing so four times in seven games. That's about as legit a rivalry as this generation of Wings is going to get.

Which of These Players Will be the Next to Score a Goal?

Filppulla, then Datsyuk in the same game. What's my reward for getting it right? -
Hossa is a rare player in that he has a good deal of both finesse and physicality to him. What I mean by physicality, is that he isn't afraid to go into the dirty areas and try to deke his way out of them, because he does such a good job protecting the puck. I think its just how he plays as the reason why he gets hit so much.

a photograph. I'm not that new-age. The person below me is tired

The best advice he can give at this point is "hope for next year, they can't afford everyone then."
-
I'm still going to be pessimistic about his chances until I hear more news. Concussions are somewhat difficult to evaluate, and Red Wing physicians, occasionally, are even more so.

Did anyone notice as the Wings won game 7, Getzlaf patted Lidstrom on the back just as the final whistle blew? I'm glad that he's being classy, despite his surroundings. Anyway, I am so glad we don't have to verse him anymore this year. He was a nightmare.

That's why "Win it for Hossa" reaches it's maximum potential in the Finals.

I will lose major respect for Chicago fans if
Echolalia replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
oh man if they chant "sell more cars" in Chicago, I would totally love it if someone started a "Buy more cars" chant in Detroit, although I don't know how many people would get it. -
i seriously laughed out loud.

Boston was facing elimination after the 4th game. I'm considering that choking, despite them making a series out of it.
