Take the last game with a grain of salt. They were playing without Wisniewski, who could be back into the lineup as early as the next game. The Wings had the right idea by grinding away at their defense early on, and it paid dividends, but if Wisniewski gets back into the lineup, the Ducks will be able to skate with the Wings' pressure for longer.

I never saw Filppulla hit Getzlaf... is there a video of it anywhere?

Who's the genius who thought that Kalamazoo folks would prefer to watch the Chicago game

I don't think he's playing in this series

The pressure is certainly on for these refs after the fiasco last game. I expect this one to be tightly called.
-
The series ain't over yet, and the ultimate goal of an nhl team is to win the cup, so any "positives" that one can take from losing are just consolation prizes.
-
I wouldn't count on him.

I wouldn't rule out Wisnewski until there's an official word. If it is a pulmonary contusion, it may not take long to recover (although I don't know for sure, but my understanding is it doesn't take much longer to heal than a bruise, unless complications arise). If he is out, its still not going to be an easy game for the Wings, but pressuring their defense early on will become that much more crucial. I like the idea of Leino in on the fourth line, as that line has been the only one to consistently get opportunities and pressure their D. If the Wings put a scorer on that line, those chances might convert into a goal, which is all the extra help they need to win a game.

An actual lung contusion includes broken blood vessels in the lungs and subsequent bleeding. Its very common to observe coughing up blood when people have this. I don't think anyone can say that there was no blood prior to him receiving an elbow. He was hit with the puck just seconds before, and its going to take a moment for the blood to pool up in the lungs enough to become noticeable. I'm not disputing that Homer elbowed the guy in the face, but I'm almost certain that isn't was caused the blood.

His interview after the game had me worried. He felt everything was fine and that the bounces we're going to start coming our way. I'm still seeing it as getting outplayed three out of four lines and two out of three periods. Datsyuk Zetterberg Homer Hossa Filppulla Franzen Cleary Sammuelson Hudler Kopecky Helm Leino He also needs to address the Wing's difficulty at establishing the Ducks' zone. They're boxing off our player with the puck, and have two defense back waiting for the dump in. I would like to see a quick drop pass to a defensman at this point who can slide the puck to the center or far side to a Wing rushing in without turning the puck over. They also really need to work on the power play and winning the one-on-one battles down low: ie SUPPORT

If only Ericcson was out there

Lung contusion is where the lung is physically traumatized in some way (in this case a direct hit by a puck, and NOT an elbow to the head). In any event, the pulmonary capillaries, and to a lesser extent arterioles and venules, break and blood is free to flow into the lungs. As you can imagine this affects breathing, and would explain why he was also coughing up blood. Unless there are complications, the recovery as far as I know should be similar to a normal bruise.

no one is going to read this. Maybe some temp, who is told to throw away all complaints from fans.

It was a total bulls*** call even if he couldn't see the puck. 1) Even if Hiller did have it covered up, that was a quick whistle 2) If he noticed the plethora of players skating frantically to the opposite side of the net like, I don't know, maybe a puck was lying there or something, it would've been obvious that Hiller, who was completely lost at this point, did not have the puck, and could've held off on "thinking about blowing the whistle" for another second.

This happens a lot more than you know

I hate the 'D' that ruins the potential for a completely appropriate word to be spelled from their team name, which accurately reflects how I feel when we verse them in the playoffs. I also hate their 'D'.

So much for being hungry

This is true to an extent, but I would like to point to exhibit B: Chris Pronger, who I've seen dive a couple times hoping to get a power play. It worked once, as much as I can remember, although I can't remember who was the culprit.

I'm still not convinced Hiller is the star that everyone has been saying he is. The Ducks' defense does an excellent job at keeping shots to the perimeter, and hopping on top of rebounds. All they're asking of Hiller is much the same that the Wings ask of Ozzy: stop the first shot, we'll take care of the rest. This is the type of series that Homer, Franzen, Cleary, and Kopecky can determine the outcome of, based on how bad they want the rebounds and the ice in front of Hiller.

Unselfish: many players tend to tell Pavel to shoot more, especially early in his career. You will see that most of his points come from assists, not goals. He's humble, but most nhl players are, at least to the media. He isn't a puck hog- he's a playmaker
-
bummer. I really liked the extra penalization of icing the puck. Unfortunately the nhl needs its money to keep the Coyotes afloat.

Rafalski and Draper will not play in Game 3
Echolalia replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
The Wings need to step it up and make sure they hit that wall, though. There has been some poor man-to-man coverage in our zone, the Wings aren't winning the one-on-one battles in the corners. That's going to be the difference in shutting them down or not. -
All I ask is that they play at 100% for 100% of the game. The rest will take care of itself.

I was expecting to see Yzerman on that list when I read the title of the thread

Ironically enough, they fill the same roles.
