I hope to God Leino gets on the scoreboard. I don't like that there are rumors floating around that he wants to bo back to Europe.
-
Its a product of being marketable. People care more about them. Both Crosby and Ovechkin.

Back spasms will keep Zetterberg from Dallas game
Echolalia replied to DatsMyWings13's topic in General
Yeah this sounds more precautionary than anything. One of the biggest luxuries, imo, of being a top-team in the league, is having the availability to sit your top players for "better safe than sorry" reasons, and not having to worry about whether we'll make the playoffs or not. -
As awesome as this is theoretically, I would be scared s***less to bring up a bunch of rookies (ie unproven players at the nhl level) to make up 1/3 of our forward lineup, plus Ericcson on the back. There's just WAY too much uncertainty there. If injuries were to strike any of the forwards, the Wings would be in a tough situation as well.

Thats fine. Their team is struggling for a playoff spot right now. They need all the help they can get.

So regardless of how much this contract is frontloaded, and how many $1m/years Holland tacked onto the end of the contract, the average cap hit is 6M/year, right? So when he's 40 years old and getting paid $1M for whatever production he makes (hopefully good), it will still be a $6M cap hit, right?

If Zetterberg doesn't get out there soon he's going to be suspended for the next game
-
What if someone threw a fake octopus on the ice for Al to swing around?

I believe Columbus is suffering from their share of injuries also, and who knows, maybe Babcock doesn't want his team to have backup from Grand Rapids. Maybe its a way to light a fire under their asses to start off the second half of the season, as they know they'll be without some quality superstars tonight. I'm actually looking forward to see who's going to step it up.

Zetterberg was never asked to play in the all star game, according to detnews.com

The NHLPA is filing a grievance report per tsn http://tsn.ca/columnists/bob_mckenzie/?id=...os=topStory_nhl

Why do you hate me?

I hope the Wings do lose and Columbus gets in by 1-2 points, and end up versing us in the playoffs.

The Islanders' ice girls' uniforms aren't that attractive. Anyway I'm indifferent either way. As a guy, I honestly can't say that I wouldn't enjoy them if the Wings had 'em. But at the same time, it doesn't feel like the Joe Louis ice is missing anything right now.

excellent argument, good sir. a nice show all around.

So its pretty much set in stone that Hossa won't be back next year, but I was thinking it would be pretty awesome (however unlikely it may be) that Hossa goes somewhere else for a one year deal, then a couple years from now he re-signs with the Wings with the Lids money. And that got me to thinking: when Lidstrom's contract is finished, would you prefer we use it to re-sign Lidstrom for another year, or get Hossa back. And yes, this is purely hypothetical. Just a fun mental experiment, I guess.
-
The fact that he still won the Norris doesn't mean that he's not past his peak. I would take Lidstrom from a couple years ago to today's Lidstrom in a heartbeat, and I would apply that to just about any 38-39 year old hockey player.

He's known in this apartment as Headset Vince "I dunno, it sells itself!"

I never said that

this is phenomenal. Maybe in a couple years we can show it at the same time as the rose bowl
-
Has anyone seen the video at tsn.ca regerding all of this? Everyone including Colin Campbell is behind Lidstrom and Dats, then they interview Crosby and he pretty much sides completely with Bettman.
-
No. Lidstrom is past his peak, and even if he is still the best defensman today, who knows what people will predict to happen with him two years from now. Or Hossa for that matter.

Between this and the Al's Octopus Swing rule, I feel like the nhl has a vendetta against the wings
-
I've never heard this 10 players rule before, but I've also never actually looked at the official rules. I was under the impression you need at least 18 or so dressed?
