It seems like Osgood only shines when he's truly in competition for the top spot. All his best tenures throughout his history with the Wings were when he was playing backup, then when he gets the number one spot, its like he takes his foot of the gas and ends up not playing as well. Lets let him and Conks battle it out. Best goalie plays, simple as that.

Kindl and Larsson named to the PlanetUSA AHL All-Star team
Echolalia replied to Reds4Life's topic in General
I was under the impression that Kindl's still was diminishing at a constant rate from a couple years ago. I assume he's back near the top? -
Seriously? Is this one on VS?

I think if they had our schedule, Nashville would've made it to the finals, but lost to Pittsburgh. So I guess I'm meeting you in the middle.

I wish this guy only the best. He's a very dynamic hockey player who ran into a bit of bad luck. I wonder how much devastation he would've caused had he remained healthy.
-
yeah who thinks this?

After taking on San Jose and Chicago two times since then, I feel like tonight is the real test.

I dunno, I think this Datsyuk-deke was the best of the three (other two against Turco and Volkun). Look how fricken' close he is to the goalie's stick before he pulls the puck back. That's confidence with the puck. That move is hard enough to do when you fake the shot and start toe-dragging from the bottom of the circle. He didn't even start until he was at the crease!

God that was horrible. Crosby totally sneak attacked him while he was focusing on the faceoff. Crosby had two punches in before the guy even realized Crosby wanted to fight. Jesus, Crosby, you're really making it hard for people to see past the "nhl whoring" to the fact that you're "really a good and classy hockey player". Long live Yzerman.

Haha its funny because apparently he's an alright coach against nonwings teams. Too bad we're always in the playoffs

I think another factor in Detroit's lower tv ratings is that many of us have (and preferably use) CBC. edit: does anyone know how the WC ratings compared with college football ratings?
-
I don't know if any owner/city would think its worth the extra money required to build it.
-
Does anyone happen to know how WCII fared up in tv ratings?

CBC ftw

I normally advocate for Kopecky staying in the lineup, because I think he's a solid young fourth liner, but I would definitely think hard about replacing him with Downey (if we had the available capspace), although one concern of mine would be Downey's defensive ability.

Hockey is hardly impossible to play, and I think its a universal that you will enjoy a sport more if you play it regularly as opposed to watching it, whether its hockey, baseball, football, bowling, whatever.

The players who earn the right to be on the ice should play. That doesn't include Lebda in my book.

The disappointment I have in Filppulla isn't in the comparison of this years' numbers to last years. Its from the fact that he seems to lose many more battles in the corners than I can ever remember him doing, and doesn't seem to hustle as much as he's capable of. Oh, and on the note of his numbers this year, I think its worth mentioning that the only forwards to have less points than him are Draper, Maltby, and Kopecky (who in my book aren't even meant to score goals). Someone said that the contract he signed is based on what he will become, not what he's expected to produce now, and he still needs to develop. I see whats going on so far this year as a step back in production.

I don't mind the idea. Its a historic ball park, and tradition has to be upheld. Who are we to deny tradition, especially when Wrigley Field has been so kindly used for the nhl's new tradition? Also, its really not that big a deal either way. Singing the song isn't going to rattle the foundation of hockey fans and destroy the sport. Or am I missing something?

Well hes also playing in the AHL... But the kind of spirit and energy and positivity and whatnot is something that I think would really help the Wings out.

I just realized they're 5 points behind us with a game in hand, and we verse them on the 30th, and again on New Years for the Winter Classic. I knew Chicago had a good future, but I didn't realize that it was already here. I don't know if this is really discussion worthy, but the fact that they're right with us isn't really talked about much what with San Jose and Boston destroying the world. Anyway the Winter Classic may have a bit more of a personal vendetta to it, with the standings so close between us. Also: feel free to rate this a 1-star captain tough-grade, its probably the only discussion on the top page that actually deserves it.

That guy needs to get back into a Wings lockerroom.
